Robert Eanes Sr.
Robert Edward Eanes Sr., 83, of 1225 Claiborne St., died Friday, May 3, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center. He had been a patient in the hospital for two weeks.
Born June 25, 1912, in Halifax County, he was a son of James Eanes and Libbie Ridgeway Eanes.
He lived most of his life in Danville where he was retired from the Danville Public School System. After retiring, he did home remodeling and repair work.
He was of the Seventh Day Adventist faith.
He was first married
to Margaret Smith Eanes, who died Sept. 19, 1987. On June 30, 1990, he married
Willie Mae Eanes, who survives.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara E. Lockwood of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Robert Edward Eanes Jr., of Richmond; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Danville Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Charles Hutcherson.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main Chapel. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1225 Claiborne St.
Earmie Fitzgerald
Earmie W. Fitzgerald, 76, of 460 Henry St., died Wednesday, May 1, 1996, in the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born March 17, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of William Womack and Lillie Clark Womack.
She was a cook for Mary's Diner. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary F. Terry of the home; two brothers, Reid Womack and George Womack, both of Danville; a sister, Annie W. Davis, of Danville; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Blairs, by the Rev. Ralph Cypress. Interment will be in Crooktown cemetery.
Mrs. Fitzgerald may be viewed from 4-8 p.m. today at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home. The family is at the residence, 460 Henry St.
Estelle Haskins
CHATHAM - Estelle Conner Haskins, 70, of Route 2, died Friday, May 3, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 22, 1925, in Franklin County, she was a daughter of Henry Erza Conner and Virgie Lawrence Conner.
She was a member of Greenbay Christian Church.
She was married
to Otie C. Haskins Sr., who survives.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Gail H. Lovelace of Chatham; one son, Otie C. Haskins Jr. of Gretna; three sisters, Edith C. Haskins of Chatham, Mildred C. Dalton of Altavista and Leona C. Fuqua of Lynchburg; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. today at Greenbay Christian Church by the Rev. Rudolph Hearn and the Rev. John McCray. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Gail Lovelace, Route 2, Chatham.

Earl Hendricks
Earl Hendricks, 60, of 113 Rosemary Lane, died Friday, May 3, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 23, 1935, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of John Henry Hendricks and Mary Jane Dove Hendricks.
He was a retired painter. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two brothers, Arthur Hendricks of Gladys and Lloyd Hendricks of Lynchburg; six sisters, Sue Martin and Gladys Hendricks, both of Gretna, Corrine Oakes, Lula Clay, Barbara Hendricks and Elizabeth Simpson, all of Hurt.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Gene Ashworth. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his sister, Lula Clay, Route 2, Hurt.
Aubrey Rosser
YORKTOWN - The Rev. Dr. Aubrey Jones Rosser, 68, died Friday, May 3, 1996.
He was born April 30, 1928, in Hampton.
He graduated from Hampton High School in 1946. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond in 1950. At the University of Richmond, he was awarded All-South honors as a member of the varsity football team, and was recognized by Who's Who Among America's College and University Students.He was also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership fraternity and Theta Chi. He graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. in 1955. In 1976, Southern Eastern Seminary awarded him an honorary doctor of divinity. He pastored nine Virginia Baptist churches from 1952-1995. These include Second Baptist Church, South Boston; Blairs Baptist Church and Chestnut Level Baptist Church, both in Pittsylvania County; Webber Memorial Baptist Church, Richmond; Belmont Baptist Church, Roanoke; Monument Heights Baptist Church and Bainbridge-Southampton Baptist Church, Richmond; and Memorial Baptist Church and Big Bethel Baptist Church, both in Hampton.
He was a past member of the Virginia Baptist General Board, and served in various leadership positions in Virginia Baptist life. He was a charter member of the Alliance of Baptists, and an honorary member of the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond's Alumni Association.
He was a past award winner in the State Master's Golden Olympics.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Plunkett Rosser of the home; four sons, Aubrey J. Rosser Jr. of Altavista, Stephen H. Rosser and Jonathan B. Rosser, both of New York, N.Y.; Philip W. Rosser of Richmond; a brother, Dois I. Rosser of Hampton; three sisters, Eleanor R. Ayer and Lillian R. Moore, both of Hampton, and Jeanne P. Beckett of Richmond; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday 2 p.m. at Hampton Baptist Church, King Street, Hampton. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. at the home of Dois J. Rosser, 4018 Chesapeake Ave., Hampton, as well as after the service in the church fellowship hall.
David Charles Baggerly
David Charles Baggerly, 37, of 444 Cedar Spring Road, died Sunday morning, May 5, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 30, 1958, in Richmond, he was a son of Dr. John T. Baggerly Jr. and Shirley Bryant Baggerly.
He was a graduate of Tunstall High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
He was a self-employed contractor and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a former leader in the Boy Scouts and a past president of the Brosville Ruritan Club.
On Sept. 5, 1987, he was married
to Melody Cook Baggerly , who survives.
In addition to his parents of Danville, and wife of the home, he is survived by two sons, Andrew Baggerly and Timmy Stowe both of the home; one brother, John L. Baggerly of Chesapeake, and two sisters, Darlene B. Hylton and Linda B. Keesee both of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church by Dr. Robert Setzer Jr. Interment will be in the Baggerly family cemetery on Stony Mill Road.
The family will receive friends at the home of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. John Baggerly Jr., 3659 Stony Mill Road.

W. Paul Carr
Willie Paul Carr, 79, of 1111 Main St., Stratford House, died Sunday afternoon, May 5, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 29, 1917, in Halifax County, he was a son of Paul Christopher Carr and Rosa Lee Vuaghan Carr.
He was a former resident of Kinston, N.C., Greenville, N.C., and Bath, N.C. He had been a resident of Danville since March.
He worked for DuPont Chemical Co. until his retirement in 1978.
He was a member of Bath United Methodist Church and was married
to Sylvia Reedy Carr on Nov. 29, 1935.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Caroline C. Smith of Danville, Jeanne C. Hart of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Paul W. Carr of Cary, N.C.; four sisters, Elsie C. Slayton, Blanche C. Richardson, Lessie C. Setliff and Hallie C. Searcy all of Danville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Mountain View cemetery by the Rev. Gerald B. Hart and the Rev. John LeGault Jr.
The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home Tuesday night from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence of his daughter, Caroline C. Smith, 1128 Westover Drive.
Henry Collie
MILTON, N.C. - Henry David Collie, 95, of 8789 N.C. Hwy. 62 North, died Sunday, May 5, 1996, at his home.
Born June 21, 1900, in Henry County, Va., he was a son of Charlie Willis Collie and Ivey Worsham Collie.
He spent most of his life in the Estelle community, and was a retired farmer and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Cheek Collie.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Floyd Morrow. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Marley Funeral Home, Yanceyville.
Weldon Compton
SUTHERLIN - Weldon Petty Compton, 84, of 456 McNeely Lane, died Saturday, May 4, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center. He had been in declining health for two months and in the hospital for 10 days.
Born April 6, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Richard C. Compton and Maggie Davis Compton.
He spent all of his life in the Laurel Grove community of Pittsylvania County, where he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church.
On Dec. 24, 1935, he was married
to Maggie Davis Compton, who survives.
In addition to his wife of Sutherlin, survivors include two daughters, Betty Carol Black of Roanoke and Brenda C. Barts of Sutherlin; one brother, Lawson Compton of Danville; one sister, Dorothy C. Davis of Sutherlin, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Blair and the Rev. Carl E. Burger. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Earline Mayo
Earline Moore Mayo, 79, of 139 Alcorn Lane, died Sunday evening in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 26, 1916 in Duncan, S.C., she was a daughter of Oliver Matthew Moore and Mary Elizabeth Dickson Moore.
She was a graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, where she had served on the Altar Guild and was a past president of the Episcopal Church Women. She was also a member of the Wednesday Club, where she served on the board of directors.
She was married
to Henry Hodge Mayo.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Anne Mayo Elliott of Spartanburg, S.C., and Janice Mayo Spessard of Burkburnett, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Eugene McLaughlin
ASHLAND - Eugene Hildred McLaughlin, 60, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 3, 1996, in Ashland Convalescent Center.
Born Feb. 27, 1936, in Danville, he was a son of Wade Thomas McLaughlin and Julia Turner McLaughlin.
He worked as a commissary manager at a Quantico Marine base from 1980-1994.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3103.
He was married
to Duc Thi Trang McLaughlin, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two sons, Eugene H. McLaughlin Jr. of Mesquite, Texas and Richard J. Gulick of Fredericksburg; three daughters, Beatrix E. McLaughlin of Dallas, Julia A. Tatro of Grand Forks, N.D., and Pamela A. Gulick of Fredericksburg; three brothers, Patrick McLaughlin, Henry McLaughlin and Thomas McLaughlin all of Danville; two sisters, Laura Tarpley and Mattie Lou Thomas both of Danville; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, by Pastor Frederick A. Donahoe. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
