Birdice Denkins
Birdice Mable Denkins, 89, formerly of 1124 Washington St., died Saturday, April 20, 1996, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, after a decline in health of several years.
Born Feb. 23, 1907, in Greensboro, N.C., she was the daughter of William Henry Fuqua and Lillie Touchstone Fuqua.
She had spent most of her life in Danville where she was retired from Dan River Mills, No. 2 Weave Room, Riverside Division, with 46 years of service.
She was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church where she belonged to the Chapel Bible Class. She was also a member of the Dan River Retiree's Club.
She was married
to Wesley Denkins on Sept. 3, 1948.
There are no immediate survivors, but she is survived by a great-niece, Joyce S. Elliott of Danville.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Freddy Vicks.
Visitation will be 7:30-8:30 p.m. tonight at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel.
Alice Huhn
A graveside service for Alice Bednor Huhn, 79, formerly of 402 Brooke Drive, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Lee Ellison.
Huhn died Saturday, April 20, 1996, in the Chesapeake Health Center, Chesapeake, after a decline in health for the past several years.
Born June 6, 1916, in Ridgewood, N.Y., she was the daughter of Browne Bednor and Louise Pfahler Bednor.
She was married
to Ferdinand Thomas Huhn, who died on Oct. 21, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Thomas R. Huhn of Chesapeake; a brother, Robert P. Bednor of Alamogordo, N.M.; and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. today
Gerald Marshall
The funeral for Gerald Wesley Marshall, 71, of 638 Timberlake Drive, will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jack Heinsohn. Interment will follow in Mountain View cemetery.
He died Saturday, April 20, 1996, while at work.
Born March 13, 1925, in Danville, he was a son of Charles Wesley Marshall and Emma Giles Marshall.
He spent his entire life in Danville and was owner and operator of Marshall's Cabinet Shop.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and former member of the board of deacons. He was also a member of the Danville Kiwanis Club.
He was married
to Wilma Lowder Marshall.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a son, Jerry Wayne Marshall of Hollywood, Calif.; and a sister, Charlotte M. Moon of Danville.
The family will be at the residence.

Paul Reynolds Sr.
Paul DeLeon Reynolds, 95, formerly of 829 N. Main St., died Sunday, April 26, 1996, in Riverside Health Care Center, after a decline in health of the past 11/2 years.
Born Oct. 15, 1900, he was a son of R.W. Reynolds and Myrtle Barbour Reynolds.
He had lived most of his life in Danville where he was the founder and owner of Reynolds Appliance & Furniture Co.
He was a member of Keen Street Baptist Church, where he was a past deacon.
He was also a member of the Ramah Masonic Lodge and the Danville Scottish Rite Bodies.
He was married
to Elizabeth Lewis Reynolds on June 14, 1925. She died Feb. 12, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Paul D. Reynolds Jr., and Rufus W. Reynolds, both of Danville; one daughter, Phyllis R. Wooden of Providence, N.C.; one brother, Luke Reynolds of Danville; one sister, Myrtle Reynolds of Danville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Maynard Lewis Reynolds.

Ruth Taylor
A graveside service for Ruth Gruber Taylor, 89, formerly 150 Benefield Ave., will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Caldwell Day.
She died Saturday, April 20, 1996, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Martinsville. She was in the nursing center for a year.
Born Jan. 17, 1907, in Greenville, Pa., she was the daughter of J. Robert Gruger and Nora Derr Gruger.
She was married
to Cedric Raymond Taylor on Jan. 16, 1945; he died on Sept. 23, 1992.
She moved to Danville in 1946 and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and secretary to the superintendent of schools in Greenville, Pa., before moving here.
Survivors include a sister, Gladys Gruber Sibley of Greenville.

Carlton White
NORFOLK - Carlton T. White, 84, of 2800 block of Dunkirk Ave., died Sunday, April 21, 1996, at Norfolk General Hospital.
Born in Republican Grove, he was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church.
He was married
to Virginia M. White of Norfolk.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Dolores W. Turner and Scarlett W. Jennings, both of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Ethel Parker of Danville, Peggy Mustain of Cascade, Mary Miller of Lutz, Fla., and Aline McKay of Morehead City, N.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Tommy Taylor.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel.
W.T. Wilson Jr.
W.T. Wilson Jr., 49, of 5136 Whispering Pines Road, in Brosville, died Sunday, April 21, 1996, at his residence, after a decline in health for the past 10 months.
Born June 20, 1946, in the Axton community of Henry County, he was a son of William Thomas Wilson Sr. and Edna Hundley Wilson.
He lived a number of years in Henry County, but had been living in the Brosville area for the past 27 years.
He worked as the lead man in the maintenance department of Dan River Inc. for 27 years until he fell ill.
He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and belonged to Greenwood Baptist Church.
He was married
to Joyce Burnette Wilson on Jan. 12, 1969.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include his parents of Axton; one daughter, Marsha Wilson Hammock of Callands; three sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Nellie Davis and Lelia Grimes, all of Axton; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mike Spence. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence in Brosville.
Margaret Collis
A graveside service for Margaret Shumate Collis, 77, 134 Knollwood Terrace, Woodberry Hills, will be conducted 11 a.m. today in Mountain View cemetery by the Rev. Richard E. Cobb.
She died Sunday, April 21, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
Born Nov. 10, 1918, in the Cascade community, she was a daughter of William Harden Shumate and Minnie Cox Shumate.
She was retired from Kmart as head of the stationery department. She had previously been employed by Dan River Inc.
She was a member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was married
to Harry M. Collis on Dec. 23, 1939.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one son, Ronald Wayne Collis of Midlothian; two daughters, Yvonne Collis Haraway and Kathy Collis Norton, both of Danville; three sisters, Joyce Shumate Cook and Ernestine Shumate Lloyd, both of Danville, and Mary Shumate Hollingsworth of Fayetteville, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Harriett Loraine Collis, and two brothers, T. Harden Shumate and Edwin M. Shumate.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Clifton Dunn
A graveside service for Clifton "Clip" Dunn, Dover, Del., will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Paul Johnson of Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He died Jan. 31, 1996, and was cremated.
He was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Danville.
He was employed as a plumber and pipe until his retirement.
He was married
to Elvin Rodden Dunn, who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Wiley and Julie Dugger; two sisters, Susie Andrews and Frances Fredrick; one brother, Frank Dunn; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 154 Fairmont Circle following the service.
B. Carson Elliott Sr.
B. Carson Elliott Sr., 82, Route 2, Dry Fork, died Monday, April 22, 1996, in the Danville Regional Medical Center, following four years of declining health.
Born Dec. 8, 1913, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Robert Coleman Elliott and Berta Jones Elliott.
He was married
to Virginia Harris Elliott, who died July 20, 1995.
While spending his entire life in the Dry Fork community, he was employed by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Department for 28 years, until his retirement.
He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, B.C. Elliott Jr. of Danville; one sister, Christine E. Wright of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Clay Knick and the Rev. Dr. Eddie Davis.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main Chapel, and other times at the residence of his son, 203 Haraway Road, Danville.
