Iris Terry Stanley, 64, 239 Parkland Drive, died Tuesday, April 16, 1996, in her residence, following two years of declining health.
Born May 7, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Charlie P. Terry and Mamie Reeves Terry.
She was married
to Harvey C. Stanley, who died Dec. 18, 1983.
She was also predeceased by a sister, Helen Terry Stanley.
While living in the Danville area, she was employed by C&P Telephone Co. for 29 years.
She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Frances Myers of Halifax and Mary Fischer of Great Falls.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel, by the Rev. Fredrick J. Vicks.
Burial will be in the Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Doris Wilson
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. - Doris Dodson Wilson, 75, 156 Forestdale Drive, Danville, died Saturday, April 13, 1996, in the Palm Beach Medical Center.
Born Nov. 27, 1920, in Spring Garden, Va., she was a daughter of Noel F. Dodson and Irene Atkinsson Dodson.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Lynwood Wilson.
She was a member of Shockoe Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris W. Blair of Suffolk and Betty W. Johnson of North Palm Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Janie D. Adams of Java, Frances D. Adams of Danville and Rebecca D. Gibson of Chatham; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Shockoe Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Huff. Interment will be in the Highland Burial Park.The family will receive friends 7:30-9:00 p.m. Thursday at Scott Funeral Home, in Chatham, and other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Gibson, 101 Woodlawn Heights, Chatham.
Doris Andrews
GRETNA - Doris Daniel Andrews, 71, 410 Henry St., died Tuesday, June 11, 1996, in Santa Monica, Calif.
Born May 19, 1925, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of James Owen Daniel and Myrtle Clark Fisher Daniel.
She was predeceased by her husband, Denver Ramsey Andrews.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Reservco Co. as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of O.E.S. Chapter #118 of Gretna, and a charter member and former president of the Winchester Woman's Club. She was also a member of Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Clark Andrews of Charlotte, N.C., and Denver Ramsey Andrews Jr. of Santa Monica, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Southall-Vess. Interment will be in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, in Gretna, and other times at the residence.
Mallie Crews
GRETNA - Mallie Hammock Crews, 87, 2745 Graves Bridge Road, died Thursday, June 13, 1996.
Born Dec. 11, 1908, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Homer Hammock and Lillian Pruitt Hammock.
She was predeceased by her husband, William M. Crews.
She was a member of Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Myers and Leola Finney, both of Sandy Level; a sister, Angie Matherly of Gretna; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday from Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Chris Brown, the Rev. Kirby Phillips and the Rev. Ira Yeatts. Interment will be in Gretna Burial Park.

Rebecca Payne
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Rebecca F. Payne, 94, of Atlantic City, N.J., died Friday, June 7, 1996,in Egg Harbor.
Born Oct. 21, 1901, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Donald Ferguson and Molly Grasty Ferguson.
She was employed by New Jersey Sanatorium as a food service worker.
She is survived by a brother, Isaac Grasty of Lovington, Va.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Cunningham and Hughes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Ralph Cypress. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

Weldon Payne
DRY FORK - Weldon Hill Payne, 84, 2600 Whitmell School Road, died Thursday, June 13, 1996, in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital of Harrisonburg. He had been in declining health for the past year.
Born March 9, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Patrick Henry Payne and Ella Boaz Payne.
On June 11, 1938, he was married
to Eliza Bradner Payne, who survives.
He spent his entire life in Pittsylvania County, where he owned and operated Payne's Service Station on Route 41, until his retirement. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Linda P. Scarce of Dry Fork, and Suzanne P. Auckerman of Bridgewater; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday from Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, Westover Chapel. Burial will be in the Boaz Family cemetery on Route 41.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Houston Bigelow
Houston Forest Bigelow, 71, 1394 Goodyear Blvd., died Monday, April 15, 1996, in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 13, 1925, in Yanceyville, N.C., he was a son of Glenn Bigelow and Wyneima Bagette Bigelow.
He was married
to Mary Adam Bigelow, who survives.
He was employed by Southern Processor Inc. as a machine operator.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Rosemary Watlington of Yanceyville; one sister, Evelyn Davis of St. Albans, N.Y.; three brothers, John Bigelow and Harry B. Bigelow, both of Danville, and Arthur Bigelow of Wilmington, Del.; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Providence, N.C., by the Rev. Paul Andrew Jackson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Marian Fuller
Marian Camper Fuller, 93, of the Stratford House, and formerly of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, April 17, 1996, in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born April 27, 1902, in Orange County, she was a daughter of William Francis Jerdone Camper and Cora Lee Rogers Camper.
She was married
to Dr. Landon E. Fuller, who survives.
She lived most of her married
life in Blacksburg.
She was a graduate of Longwood College, and pursued her graduate work at the University of Virginia.
She was an English teacher, who worked in Charlottesville, Whitmell, Woodbridge, and Tazewell high schools.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany by the Rev. Jim Matherson. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight in the Evergreen room at the Stratford House, and other times at the residence, Stratford House Apartment #302.

Tommie Harper
PORTSMOUTH - Tommie Lee Harper of Portsmouth died Tuesday, April 16, 1996, in Autumn Care Center.
Born in Danville, he was a son of Frank Harper and Betty Sue Harper.
He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sisters, Fannie Mae Hughes and Eunice Harper, both of New York City, and Virginia Harrison of Portsmouth; and a nephew, Haywood Lee Harper of Danville. He was predeceased by a brother, Lewis Harper Sr. of Danville.
The funeral will conducted 11:30 a.m. Friday from Fisher's Funeral Home in Portsmouth by the Rev. Daphney. Burial will be in Lincoln cemetery.
Kenneth Seay
A graveside service for Kenneth Gerald Seay, 86, 1636 Leemont Court, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Leemont cemetery by the Rev. William C. Taylor.
He died Tuesday, April 16, 1996, in his residence, following 10 years of declining health.
Born June 10, 1909, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Edward Wade Seay and Lessie Brooks Seay.
He was married
to Pattie Hunt Seay, who survives.
While living most of his life in Danville, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, until his retirement. Prior to his career with the Postal Service, he worked with his father at Seay Grocery.
He was a member of Grace Design United Methodist Church.
He was also a member of the Poquoson Tribe of the Improved Order of Red Men.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Joanne S. Bennett of Richmond; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

George White
FOREST - George Willard White, 82, formerly of Holland Road in Pelham, N.C., died Tuesday, April 16, 1996, at his son's residence.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Clay White.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Ramah Masonic Lodge #70 and the Danville Shrine Club.
He was a also a member of the National Radio Patrol and served many years on various rescue squads as an EMT.
He was employed by Southern Railroad for 32 years, and Thompson-Arthur Paving for 14 years.
Survivors include one son, Richard White of Forest; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from the chapel of Swicegood Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Wallace and the Rev. Fred Cox. Burial will be in the Mt. View cemetery, where Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Ramah Masonic Lodge #70.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of his granddaughter, Laura Dickens, 124 Oak Ridge Lane, off Vandola Road.
