Max "Cap" Zauke
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Max H. "Cap" Zauke, 26, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., died Monday, July 29, 1996, in St. Lukes Hospital of Jacksonville.
Born Feb. 3, 1970, in Tampa, he was a son of Sue and Max Zauke, who survive.
He was a student at Valdosta Tech.
In addition to his parents of Ponte Vedra Beach, he is survived by a brother, Harrison Zauke of Ponte Vedra Beach.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Wayles and Sue B. Harrison.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday from Christ Episcopal Church, in Ponte Vedra Beach, by the Rev. David Wilt. Burial will be in H. Warren Smith cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville.
Russell Davis Jr.
LONG ISLAND - Russell Davis Jr., 44, 5628 Moon Road, died Thursday, August 1, 1996, in his residence.
Born Sept. 15, 1951, he was a son of Patsy M. Davis, who survives, and Russell Davis Sr.
He was married
to Lucille Berger Davis, who survives.
Prior to his retirement on disability, he was employed by Klopman Mills in Hurt. He was also a member of Staunton Baptist Church in Long Island.
In addition to his mother of Long Island and his wife of Lynchburg, survivors include four daughters, Patrice Ann Davis of Alexandria, Keyonne Davis of Lynchburg, Felicia Davis Hubbard of Long Island and Marie D. Ivory of Nathalie; a brother, Donzell L. Davis of Long Island; five sisters, Odessa Williams of Temple Hills, Md., Ruby Mitchell of Newark, N.J., Addie M. Jennings of Long Island, Connie Davis Prevost of Lanham, Md., and Pinkie D. Wilson of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Staunton Baptist Church by Dr. P.A. Medley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, 5630 Moon Road, Long Island.

Elsie Fore
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The funeral for Elsie Gay Fore, 90, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Richard Cobb. Burial will be in Greenhill cemetery.
She died Wednesday, July 31, 1996, in Northwest Health Care Center in Washington, D.C.
Born May 20, 1906, in Danville, Va., she was a daughter of James Henry Fore and Minnie Chaney Fore.
She spent most of her life in Washington, D.C., where she was employed as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Victor W. Fore of Greensboro, N.C., Wendell Fore of Arlington, Va., and Carlton Fore of South Boston, Va.; and a sister, Muriel Fore of Washington, D.C.
Albert Gravett
Albert Keith Gravett, 69, 154 Ruskin St., died Thursday, August 1, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 4, 1926, in Halifax County, he was a son of Samuel Woody Gravett Sr. and Minnie Knowles Gravett.
He was married
to Peggy Whitt Gravett, who survives.
He was formerly employed as a state trooper. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by State Farm as an insurance adjuster. During World War II, he served in the Marines.
In addition to his wife of Danville, survivors include a daughter, Sharon Gravett-Marks of Memphis, Tenn.; and a brother, Wallace Gravett of Richmond.
He was predeceased by a brother, Samuel Woody Gravett Jr.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, in South Boston, by Dr. Walter D. Graham III. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in South Boston.

Robert Wilson
MARTINSVILLE - Robert Levern Wilson, 62, 14 Sunset Drive, died Tuesday, July 30, 1996, in his residence.
Born Nov. 20, 1933, in Darlington, S.C., he was a son of Eddie Wilson and Bessie Patterson Wilson.
He was a resident of Martinsville for 41 years. He was employed by Martinsville City Schools as a teacher for 29 years.
He was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church and of Alpha Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
He was a graduate of Allen University in Columbia, S.C., and received his master's degree from A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Hairston Funeral Home Chapel, in Martinsville. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral at 1:30 p.m. today. The remains will be at the funeral home.
James Towler
GRETNA - James Woodrow Towler, 79, 6233 West Gretna Road, died Friday, August 2, 1996, in Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born May 7, 1917, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Winbem Towler and Annie Owen Towler.
He was married
to Sallie Watson Towler, who survives.
He was a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Klopman. During World War II, he served in the Army.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Betty T. Oakes of Hurt; three sons, Guy Woodrow Towler and Nelson Towler, both of Gretna, and John David Towler of Archdale, N.C., ; seven sisters, Gladys Hancock of Pittsville, Cora Brumfield of Altavista, Helen Towler, Frances Towler and Sally Towler, all of Chatham, Eunice Murphy of Danville, and Mary Ellen Barbour of Gretna; a foster sister, Carlotte Scruggs of Gretna; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from New Bethel Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Alvery Parr. Interment will be in Gretna Burial Park.

Patsy Johnson
NATHALIE - Patsy Francisco Johnson, 59, of 5123 Hunting Creek Road, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston.
Born Feb. 13, 1937, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of George M. Francisco and Edith B. Francisco, who survives.
She was a retired registered nurse at Halifax Reigonal Hospital and was married
to John J. Johnson Sr., who survives.
She was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church and the VFW Post 8243 Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her mother of Nathalie and her husband of Nathalie, survivors include two sons, John J. Johnson Jr. of Greensboro, N.C., Gerald F. Johnson of Nathalie; two daughters, Janet E. Johnson of Nathalie and Julie E. Johnson of Christiansburg; four brothers, Larry C. Francisco of Greensboro, N.C.; Jackie M. Francisco of Ringgold; David R. Francisco and Danny T. Francisco both of Nathalie; two sisters, Lois F. Green of Nathalie and Dale F. Williams of Roxboro, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hunting Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Lee Roy Davis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Cassandra Motley
The graveside service for Cassandra Self Motley, 101, of 207 Marshall Terrace, will be conducted 11 a.m. today in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. John Martin and the Rev. John LeGault.
She died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 2, 1895, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Peter William Self and Carnie Etta Self.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was the oldest member of the Dorothea Henry Carter Chapter of Danville. She was a member of the Wednesday Club of Danville and Payneton United Methodist Church in Pittsylvania County.
She was married
to Reid Irvin Motley, who died Aug. 3, 1963.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Motley Bryant of Danville; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Moore
Mary Gwynn Moore, 82, 378 Darby Road, died Saturday, August 3, 1996, in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 15, 1914, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Willie Gwynn and Ollie McDaniel.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Moore.
Survivors include a son, James Moore of Danville; two sisters, Emma Savage and Elizabeth Stokes, both of Danville; and two brothers, John Gwynn and Wesley Gwynn, both of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Henry Anderson. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Stella Noonkester
Stella Prather Noonkester, 93, 106 Redbud Lane, died Sunday, August 4, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 1, 1902, in Ashe County, N.C., she was a daughter of Oscar J. Prather and Nancy Swift Prather.
On July 19, 1919, she was married
to Earl William Noonkester, who died Sept. 19, 1994.
She had lived in Danville since 1915, and lived off Luna Lake Road for many years. She spent the past year at Riverside Health Care Center.
She was employed by Dan River Inc. as a weaver. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of First Church of the Brethren, where her parents were charter members and her grandfather was founder. As the church's longest attending member, she was very active in the women's work and furnished the church flowers for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Clark of Danville, and Nancy Berkley of Dry Fork; a son, Herman "Buddy" Noonkester of Danville; two sisters, Ruth P. Rothgaber of Eldersburg, Md., and Josie P. Nelson of Danville; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dale F. Watson and the Rev. Leonard Martin. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

John Ricketts
John Daniel Ricketts, 66, 4020 Westover Drive, Lot 70, died Sunday, August 4, 1996, in his residence, following several months of declining health.
Born Aug. 12, 1929, in Soddy, Tenn., he was a son of John Joseph Ricketts and Annie Reno Ricketts.
On June 6, 1956, he was married
to Grace "Jeanette" Burke Ricketts, who survives.
He spent most of his life in Newport News, before moving to Danville in 1981. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by U.S. Navy Weapons Station in Yorktown as a dispatcher.
He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church on Westover Drive. He was also a member of Marnier Lodge No. 215 and Royal Arch Chapter No. 80 in Newport News.
He also served with the U.S. Army Company B, Engineer Combat Battalion.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, Dennis Ray Ricketts of Newport News, and Keith Wayne Ricketts of Dry Fork; a daughter, Connie R. Heath of Hampton; a sister, Rosa R. Lee of Daisey, Tenn.; three brothers, Ralph Ricketts of Port Wentworth, Ga., Vance Ricketts and Billy Joe Ricketts, both of Soddy, Tenn; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel, by the Rev. Fred Wade and the Rev. Daryl Joyce. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

Fannie Burgess
ALTAVISTA - Fannie Elizabeth Burgess, 75, Route 2, Altavista, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1996, in her residence.
Born March 3, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of David Paul Jefferson and Beulah Adkins Jefferson.
She was married
to James W. Burgess, who survives.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Piedmont Manufacturing Co. She was also a member of Altavista Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include a son, Timothy Burgess of Rustburg; a daughter, Jamie Pippin of Hurt; a brother, Hubert Jefferson of Gretna; four sisters, Becky Walker of Penhook, Charlotte Rigney of Martinsville, Sylvia McGregor of Evington and Shirley Sutphin of Altavista; six grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Altavista Church of Christ by Lory Brafford, minister, and J.D. Hunt III, minister. Burial will be in Altavista Memorial Park.
