John Eason
John Junior Eason, 77, of 161 American Legion Blvd., died Sunday morning, July 7, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born April 7, 1919, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of David E. Eason and Nancy Jennings Eason.
He had been a roofing contractor and was of the Baptist faith.
On February 6, 1944, he was married
to Addie Beatrice Eason, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Nancy Powell of Cascade and Debra Webb of Danville; one son, Barry Eason of Danville; one sister, Bertha Hazelwood of Ringgold; and 10 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, Ronald Eason and David Eason.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eugene Powell and the Rev. Bill Soyars Jr.
Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence.
Rosa Fuller
Rosa Davis Fuller, 80, of 830 Corcoran St., died Friday, July 5, 1996, at her home.
Born Jan. 1, 1916, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Floyd Davis and Anna Hunt Davis.
She had been a shift worker for Lorillard Tobacco Co.
Survivors include four sons, Frank Fuller, Carl Fuller, Wallace Fuller and Harry Fuller all of Danville; one daughter, Vera Howerton of Danville; one brother, Wilber Davis of Danville; three sisters, Polly Murrell of Ringgold, Dora White and Myrtle Reid both of Danville; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Tabernacle of Jesus Christ by Bishop Clara Gerald. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The body may be viewed from 4-8 tonight at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Madie Hughes
Madie Elizabeth Hughes, 60, of 325 Lincoln St., died Friday, July 5, 1996, at Danville Regonal Medical Center.
Born Feb. 8, 1936, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Harry and Nettie Russel Tinnin.
She was formerly married
to Leroy Deshazo.
Survivors include three sons, William Deshazo and Bobby Deshazo both of Danville; Richie Deshazo of Silver Springs, Md.; two daughters, Delores Tucker and Patricia Jane Murphy both of Danville; one sister, Nancy Russell of Danville; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Sinai Glorious Church of God by Bishop A.R. Linder. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Delores Tucker, 719 Paxton St.

Richard Owen
The funeral for Richard H. Owen, 81, of 36 Winstead Drive, will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. W.L. Wade Jr. and Dr. Calvin Johnson. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 325 Honor Guard.
He died Saturday, July 6, 1996, at his residence.
Born Nov. 10, 1914, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Howard F. Owen and Agnes Fulcher Owen.
He was married
to Ruth Barton Owen, who died Sept. 1, 1990. He was also predeceased by three brothers, J. Raymond Owen, Archie Guy Owen and Billy Jackson Owen.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He spent most of his life in Danville and retired at age 65 as an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), working from the Lynchburg office.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 1097, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 55, and the VFW Post No. 647.
Owen was a member of Lighthouse Independent Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy K. Owen of the residence; three sons, R. Michael Owen of the residence, Gary B. Owen of Mebane, N.C., and David M. Owen of Spring Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Adell O. Carter and Minnie O. Gammon, both of Danville, and Louise O. Motley of Lynchburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8:30 tonight and other times will be at the residence.
Nancy Reamey
Nancy Hawkins Reamey, 64, of 860 Glendale Ave., died Saturday, July 6, 1996, at her home after two years of declining health.
Born April 6, 1932, in Danville, she was the daughter of Wesley Hawkins Sr. and Myrtle Nance Hawkins Bousman who survives.
She spent her entire life in Danville and was a retired homemaker and child care provider.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was married
to Edward L. Reamey, who died Oct. 5, 1969.
Survivors in addition to her mother and step-father, Travis Bousman, both of Danville, include two daughters, Lori Reamey of the home and Linda Counts of Danville; one son, Michael Reamey of Danville; two brothers, Wesley Hawkins Jr. of Blairs and Darryl Hawkins of Maryland; and five grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mountain View cemetery by the Rev. Daryl Joyce.
The family will be at the residence.

Marilyn Barley
Marilyn Sherice Barley, 28, 1017 1/2 Stokes St., died Saturday, July 6, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 20, 1968, in Paterson, N.J., she was a daughter of Aaron and Dorothy Brown Moore.
She was married
to Danny Lee Barley, who survives.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Deliverance Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church in Paterson, N.J.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Jasmine Barley of the residence; two sons, Michael Barley and Tyrick Barley, both of the residence; a step-son, Nathaniel Calloway of Java; two sisters, Sharon Moore of Danville, and Cynthia Commander of Timmonsville, S.C.; two brothers, Aaron Moore Jr. and Wayne Moore, both of Danville, and her maternal grandparents, Carroll and Carla Brown of Lamar, S.C.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday from Mt. Sinai Glorious Church, Jefferson St., by Bishop Arthur Linder. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

Lionel King
BLAIRS - Lionel Adrian King, 38, Route 2, Box 35-B, died Saturday, July 6, 1996, in the Medical College of Virginia Hospital Center of Richmond.
Born March 3, 1958, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Frank and Elsie Jones King, who survive.
He was married
to Cathy Denise King, who also survives.
He served in the United States Navy.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include a son, Adrian King of Danville; two brothers, Avery King of Blairs and James Clark of Greensboro, N.C.; and three sisters, Dale Echols and Linda Echols, both of Danville, and Cynthia Bennett of Blairs.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Oak Grove Baptist Church, in Blairs, by the Rev. Ralph Cypress. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

Joe Wade
CASCADE - Joe Louis Wade, 63, of Route 1, Box 2170, died Sunday, July 7, 1996, in North Carolina Baptist Hospital of Winston Salem, N.C.
He was married
to Elizabeth Combs Wade, who survives.
He was a native of Draper, N.C., where he was a member of First Baptist Church of Draper. He was also a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was employed by Fieldcrest Cannon.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a son, Michael Lee Wade of Martinsville; a brother, David Lee Wade of Eden, N.C.; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Fair Funeral Home, in Eden, N.C.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Kathryn Atkins
Kathryn Elizabeth Jones Atkins, 88, 483 West Main St., died Tuesday, July 9, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been hospitalized after suffering a fall and a mild stroke in her home on June 5.
Born July 6, 1908, in Danville, she was a daughter of John Anderson Jones and Minnie Abbott Jones.
She was married
to Robert Garland Atkins, who died June 18, 1975.
She spent her life in Danville, where she graduated from Danville High School. She was also a graduate of Longwood College in Farmville, and received a masters degree in education from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
She taught music, English and history in Danville Public Schools for more than 35 years. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ayers Peatross Bible Class.
She was also a member of the Virginia Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, the Longwood College Alumni Assocation and the George Washington University Alumni Association.
Survivors include a son, Robert G. Atkins Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Thursday from Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Richard Cobb. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and following the funeral Thursday at the residence.
Upson Evans
Upson Bruce Evans, 89, 3587 Westover Drive, died Tuesday, July 9, 1996, in the residence of his great-granddaughter.
Born April 13, 1907, in Rockingham, N.C., he was a son of John Henry Evans and Louvinia Paschall Evans.
He spent most of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Danville Knitting Mill, now known as Durham Hosiery, for 52 years.
He was a charter member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where he served as past superintendent of Sunday schools. He was also a past member of the Red Men.
He was married
to Hallie Tillman Evans on Feb. 2, 1926. She died on Aug. 26, 1993.
Survivors include four sons, Bruce Tillman Evans of Blairs, Ernest Leroy Evans of Manassas, Robert "Bob" Evans of Taylor, S.C., and Charles L. Evans of Fort Mill, S.C.; two sisters, Clara Evans and Buelah Overby, both of Ruffin, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Evans Gauldin.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Rev. William Blalock. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
