Ethel Towler
Ethel Pearl Bradner Towler, 88, 512 Lee Street, died Sunday, June 30, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 3, 1908, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Jim Bradner and Frances Turner Bradner.
She was predeceased by her husband, Willie Towler.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday from Oak Hill cemetery.

Ruth Walker
TAMPA, FLA. - Ruth Riley Walker of Tampa died Monday, July 1, 1996, in Tampa.
A native of Danville, she was a daughter of Annie and Ira Nelson Riley.
She lived in New Orleans for many years.
She was employed by Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Walker of Marrero, La., and Chic Walker of Kenner, La.; a daughter, Diane Walker King of Tampa; a sister, Athera "Toni" Hunt of Danville, Va.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Herbert Walker; a brother, Ira Odell Riley; and a sister, Vira Sides; all of whom lived in Danville, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 San Jose, by the Rev. Jan Williams Banker and Dr. John T. DeBevoise. Cremation and a graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the Garden of Memories cemetery in Metarie, La.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Mark III Funeral Home, 4207 Bay to Bay Boulevard.
Frances Braswell
The funeral for Frances Mills Braswell, 80, 357 Averett Place, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Shelby Royal. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
She died Tuesday, July 2, 1996, in Riverside Health Care Center.
Born July 21, 1915, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Sidney Martin Mills and Bettie Shelton Mills.
On Aug. 2, 1935, she was married
to Marvelyn Speeler Braswell, who died May 13, 1970.
She spent her entire life in Danville, where she was employed by Dan River Inc. She retired from Hylton Hall in the Customer Service Department after 30 years of service.
She was a member of Woodberry Hills Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school.
Survivors include two daughters, Frankie Jean Braswell of the residence, and Vanna B. Terry of Danville; a son, Oscar Lee Braswell of Axton; a sister, Elizabeth M. Throckmorton of Raleigh, N.C.; and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Glenda Brincefield
A graveside service for Glenda Clark Brincefield, 61, 156 Fairview Ave., will be conducted 11 a.m. today from Danville Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Larry J. Edmonds.
She died Monday, July 1, 1996, in Forsyth Memorial Hospital of Winston-Salem, N.C. She had been in declining health for 14 years.
Born Feb. 3, 1935, in Danville, she was a daughter of B.F. Clark and Dora Saunders Clark.
On Oct. 27, 1956, she was married
to Harvey H. Brincefield Jr., who survives.
She spent her entire life in Danville, where she was employed by Brooks Anderson Insurance Co. Afterwards, she joined her husband with H.H. Brincefield Realtors and Construction Co., where she worked as a bookkeeper.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include a sister, Melba C. Davis of Danville.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Burnell Clark and Harold D. Clark.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 156 Fairview Ave., off 58 West.

Sarah Brooks
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - Sarah Hogue Brooks, 72, 18920 13th Ave., died Friday, June 28, 1996, in the Jamaica Hospital of New York City.
Born Oct. 12, 1924, in Halifax County, Va., she was a daughter of Willie Hogue and Fannie Whitlock Hogue.
She was a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church in Sutherlin, Va., shere she served on the Usher Board and on the Treasury Committee.
She attended school in Halifax County.
Survivors include two sisters, Martha Ocelia Wensen of Long Island, and Virginia Logan of Sutherlin, Va.; and a brother, Patrick Hogue of Danville, Va.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from White Oak Baptist Church in Sutherlin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Oren Brown
Oren Therma Brown, 81, 5121 Hwy. 29 North, Blairs, died Wednesday, July 3, 1996, in Roman Eagle Nursing Home. He had been in declining health since November.
Born Oct. 15, 1914, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Obie D. Brown and Jeanette Heffinger Brown.
He was married
to Arline Doss Brown, who died Oct. 2, 1987.
He spent his entire life in Blairs and was of the Baptist faith. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Virginia Department of Transportation.
During World War II he served in the Army.
Survivors include three sisters, Gladys Brown, Gertie Overby, and Shirley Dalton, all of Blairs.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Luther Lemon. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of Shirley Dalton, Route 29, Blairs.
Joseph Gentry Jr.
The funeral for Joseph Otho Gentry Jr., 88, will be conducted 11 a.m. today from the chapel of Swicegood Funeral Home by the Rev. Gilmore Hundley and the Rev. Alonzo Bryson. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
He died Tuesday, July 2, 1996, in Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born Sept. 19, 1907, in Person County, N.C., he was a son of Joseph Otho Gentry Sr. and Betty Brann Gentry.
He was married
to Katie Crumpton Gentry, who died Nov. 28, 1986.
He spent most of his life in Danville and Pelham, N.C. He was employed by Hugh Pryor's store on Holland Road, and later worked for Old Dutch Supermarket.
He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Gentry of Danville; six sisters, Evie Buckner, Amy Lancaster, Ethel Goforth, and Vera Myers, all of Danville, Pearl Isom of Greenville, S.C., and Mary Mimms of Charlottesville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his son, 103 Laramie Circle.
Fannie Price
Fannie Mae Price, 77, 138 Ida St., died Saturday, June 29, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 14, 1919, in Caswell County, N.C., she was a daughter of Walter and Ida Powell Sherill.
She was predeceased by her husband, Berkley Lester Price.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Dan River Inc.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Mary Alice Wilson of Danville; four sisters, Lillie Williams of Providence, N.C., Agnes Gunn and Mary Williams, both of Pelham, N.C., and Kate Myers of Youngstown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted noon Friday from Shady Grove Baptist Church, in Pelham, N.C., by the Rev. Haywood Gray. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Charlie Richardson
Charlie Richardson, 76, 923 Washington St., died Sunday, June 30, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 8, 1920, in Danville, he was a son of Charlie A. Richardson Sr. and Beulah Hubbard Richardson.
He was employed by Disston as a shift worker.
Survivors include five sons, Charles Richardson of Atlantic City, N.J., Frankie Richardson, Johnny "Big Man" Richardson, Ralph Richardson, and Claude Richardson, all of Danville; a daughter, Shirley Harris of Philadelphia; a step-daughter, Loretta B. Howerton of Danville; a brother, Willie B. Richardson of Danville; and a sister, Juanita R. Miller of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Cunningham & Hughes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. J.P. Griffith Jr. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
The body may be viewed 4-8 tonight at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the residence of Claude Richardson, 431 First St.
Hitaska Rowland
GRETNA - Hitaska Esther Barbour Rowland, 85, of Gretna, died Wednesday, July 3, 1996, in Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1910, in Franklin County, she was a daughter of John Barbour and Laura Neal Barbour.
She was a member of Altavista Baptist Tabernacle.
Survivors include two sons, Sam Junior Rowland and James Rowland, both of Gretna; two daughters, Minnie Marie Bradner of Altavista, and Pearlie Rowland of Danville; a step-daughter, Eloise Farmer of Charlotte, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sam David Rowland, and by a step-daughter, Elva Miller.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday from Altavista Baptist Tabernacle by Dr. James Worley and Dr. Wayne F. Greene. Interment will be in Gretna Burial Park.

Lucy Triplett
Lucy Boyd Triplett, 91, 311 Chatelaine Ave., died Wednesday, July 3, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 22, 1904, north of Woolwine in Patrick County, she was a daughter of Harriet Clifton and Putnam Nathaniel Boyd.
She spent most of her life in Danville, and was a member of West Main Baptist Church.
She was a member of the Danville Senior Citizens Club and the AARP. She taught a knitting and crocheting class at the Senior Citizens Center for several years. She was also a Gray Lady at the hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Triplett Barker of Danville; a sister, Nancy Collins of Roanoke; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Monroe Triplett, who died in 1977, and by a daughter, Betty Triplett Powell, who died in 1992.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday from Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Bruce Wilson. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.
