Lucille Hoskins
Lucille Dunn Hoskins, 67, 107 Cathy Drive, died Sunday, June 16, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following four years of declining health.
Born Aug. 16, 1928, in Danville, she was a daughter of James Dunn and Ida Francis Arnold Dunn.
She was married
to Harold Lee Hoskins Sr., who died in September 1993.
She spent her entire life in Danville and was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie H. DeHart and Kathy H. Barts, both of Danville; a son, Harold Lee Hoskins Jr. of Pelham, N.C.; a sister, Margaret D. Haley of Danville; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday from Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Ralph E. McCormack. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main Chapel, and other times at the residence and also at 304 Melrose Drive.
Emmis Thomas
SOUTH BOSTON - Emmis Thomas, 74, 3204 Bill Tuck Hwy., died Sunday, June 16, 1996, in his residence.
Born July 8, 1921, in Halifax County, he was a son of Willie Louis Thomas and Nannie Dyer Thomas.
He was married
to Mildred Smith Thomas, who survives.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Jiffy Stores as a clerk. He was also past owner of Thomas Lunch Room in Riverdale.
He was a member of Scottsburg Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife of South Boston, survivors include a daughter, Peggy Thomas Gaines of Richmond; a son, Emmis Wade Thomas of South Boston; and a sister, Irene Thomas Creath of South Boston.
He was predeceased by a brother, Lenwood Thomas, and also by a half-brother, Edgar Bowen.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Scottsburg Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Phillips. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery in Scottsburg.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Brooks Funeral Home, in South Boston, and other times at the residence.
Willie Wimbush
Willie Hardin Wimbush, 69, 216 Church St., died Thursday, June 13, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 13, 1926, in Danville, he was a son of John Wimbush and Hattie McLaughlin Wimbush.
He was married
to Martha Goode Wimbush, who survives.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Dan River Inc. He was also a member of Movement for Jesus Holiness Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three daughters, Rosa Shelton and Emogene Wimbush, both of Danville, and Florence Ann Wimbush of Bassett; five sons, John Wayne Wimbush and Leroy Wimbush, both of Danville, Clyde Wimbush of Arlington, Willie Aubrey Wimbush of Ashville, N.C., and Harold Wimbush of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; a brother, Edward Wimbush of Danville; three sisters, Hattie Bell Chattin of West Virginia, Ethel Davis of Philadelphia, and Eva McLaughlin of Greensboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. today from the chapel of Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home by Bishop William Woodell. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
Lillie Boles
JAVA - The funeral for Lillie Shelton Boles, 76, Route 1, Java, will be conducted 11 a.m. today from Millcreek Baptist Church by the Rev. James G. Bullock Jr. and the Rev. Floyd M. Boles. Burial will be in the Shelton Family cemetery.
She died Saturday, June 15, 1996, at the residence of her son in Winfield, W.Va.
Born May 28, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Raleigh Martin Shelton and Lillie Ola Abbott Shelton.
She was predeceased by her husband, Willie Franklin Boles.
She was a member of Millcreek Baptist Church.
Survivors include include four sons, Aubrey F. Boles of Winfield, W.Va., the Rev. Floyd M. Boles of Clemmons, N.C., L. Warren Boles of Providence, N.C., and Walter W. Boles of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Edna B. Scruggs of Newport News, and Musa B. Shelton of Chatham; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Hattie Crank
Hattie Yates White Crank, 65, 431 South Hampton Ave., died Monday, June 17, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 5, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Lacy Daniel Yates and Sarah Yates Hoogerwerff, who survives.
She was first married
to Malcolm Deward White. After his death, she was married
to Manley F. Crank, who is also deceased.
She spent most of her life in Danville, and attended Arlington Baptist Church.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Danville School System in the Forest Hills School cafeteria as a cashier.
In addition to her mother of Danville, survivors include a son, Michael C. White of Danville; a daughter, Sherri W. Slayton of Danville; two sisters, Ann Yates Talbott of Danville, and Nancy Yates Raynor of Ingram; two brothers, Lacy Thomas Yates of Danville, and James Randolph Yates of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Elayne W. Brooks.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main Chapel, by the Rev. Samuel L. Greeson. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

GRETNA - Avis Cook Mayhew, 83, of Gretna, died Monday, June 17, 1996, in Duke Medical Center.
Born June 15, 1913, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Wady P. Cook and Lillian A. Mitchell.
She was a member of Gretna Christian Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Elwood Cook of Gretna, and George Cook of Roanoke.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday from the chapel of Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, in Gretna, by the Rev. Gene Ashworth and the Rev. James Abner. Burial will be in the Cook Family cemetery.

Garnett Pruitt
AXTON - Garnett Pruitt, 81, of Route 1, Axton, died Tuesday, June 18, 1996, in the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County.
He was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Pittsylvania County.
He was married
to Oretha Harris Pruitt, who survives.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Virginia Welding and Fabricating Co. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Irisburg Ruritan Club. He was also a charter member of Full Gospel Baptist Church in Axton.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Tilley Marie Wingo of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Libby Martin of Axton; a son, Curtis Pruitt of Axton; a sister, Algie P. Rigney of Callands; a brother, Curtis Pruitt of Martinsville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from the chapel of McKee Funeral Home, in Martinsville, by the Rev. Virgil Soots and the Rev. Herman Smith. Burial will be in the Stegall, Harris, and Pruitt Family cemetery.

Anna Henderson
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Anna Belle Henderson, 3301 Foster Road, died Sunday, June 16, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 11, 1911, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Charlie Henderson and Roberta Clark Henderson.
She was a member of Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, where she served in the senior choir, the missionary circle, and as the pastor's aide.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Sassafras Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Bigelow. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Forrest Pritchett
Forrest Chenault Pritchett, 80, formerly of 1487 Blair Loop Road, died Wednesday, June 18, 1996, in Riverside Health Care Center. She had been in declining health for the past six years.
Born Dec. 26, 1915, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Otis W. Chenault and Rosetta Fain Chenault.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Henry Pritchett.
She spent her entire life in the Danville area, where she was employed by Dan River Mills in the spinning room for many years. She later worked for Star Cleaners.
She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sisters, Beatrice Gill and Frances Walton, both of Danville, Myrtle Gallop of Bessemer City, N.C., and Mildred Liner of Norcross, Ga.; and a brother, Joseph Chenault of Louisville, Ky.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from the chapel of Swicegood Funeral Home by the Rev. Duane O. Blevins. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of her sister, Beatrice Gill, 717 Arlington Road.
