Louise Epps

HALIFAX - Louise Ferrell Epps, 84, of 1093 Mountain Road, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born June 14, 1912, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Jessie Ferrell and Ora Lewis Ferrell.
She was married to Charlie W. Epps, who survives.
She was a member of Beth Carr Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of Halifax, survivors include three sons, Charles Jackie Epps, Coleman Webb and John Thomas Webb, all of Halifax; one daughter, Jeanette Solomon of Turbeville; four sisters, Edith Boyd of Danville, Catherine McDowell, Myrtle Moore and Ellen Elliott all of Halifax; three brothers, Owen "Doc" Ferrell, L.C. Ferrell and Morton Ferrell all of Halifax; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Beth Carr Baptist Church by th Rev. Melvin Bradshaw. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Powell Funeral Home, South Boston, is in charge of arrangements.

Alan Goble

The funeral for Alan Sanford Goble, 34, of Danville, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Rev. Roger Ewing. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
He died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, in his residence.
Born Nov. 27, 1961, in Danville, he was a son of Frances Moore Goble, who survives, and Sanford Stewart Goble.
He was a 1980 honor graduate of George Washington High School. He graduated from Danville Community College with an associates degree in Business Administration. He also attended Averett College.
He was employed by Century 21 in Danville. He had formerly worked for Belk-Leggett in Danville and Greensboro, N.C.
In addition to his mother of Danville, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Debra G. Emerson of Dry Fork; and his paternal grandmother, Bertha Goble of Danville.
The family will receive friends at 3005 Lynrock Court in Blairmont Acres, off Route 29 North.

Wesley Gregory

LYNCH STATION - Wesley Allen Gregory, 31, of Route 1, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996.
Born May 24, 1965, in Lynchburg, he was a son of Charlie R. Gregory Sr. and Bertie Vaden Gregory, who both survive.
He was employed with Holiday Inn Select.
In addition to his parents of Hurt, survivors include one daughter, Sabrina Kay Gregory of Lynch Station; five brothers, Larry Eugene Gregory Sr. of Dry Folk; James Wade Gregory and Darryl Wayne Gregory both of Gretna; Charlie R. Gregory Jr. and Mark Steven Gregory both of Hurt; two sisters, Jill Gregory Conner and Joanna Gregory Cox both of Lynch Station; and his maternal grandfather, Lewis E. Vaden Sr. of Roanoke.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Allen Gregory Jr.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Dr. James Worley. Burial will be in the Worley Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight and other times will be at the home of his sister, Jill Conner, Route 1, Lynch Station.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, is in charge of arrangements.

Harry Marshall Jr.

BLAIRS - The graveside service for Harry Collie Marshall Jr., 72, of 7804 Old Richmond Road, will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Highland Burial Park by the Rev. David Henry.
He died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He had been in declining health since May 1995.
Born Dec. 26, 1923, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Harry Collie Marshall Sr. and Laura Moore Marshall.
He spent most of his life in Danville. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Commadore Mobile Homes for many years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two sisters, Barbara M. Shields of Blairs and Jean M. Reynolds of Wilson, N.C.
He was predeceased by a sister, Sarah M. Harrison.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Barbara M. Shields, 7804 Old Richmond Road, Blairs.
Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Retha Wright

BLAIRS - The funeral for Retha Fowler Wright, 75, of Route 2, Box 412, Lawless Creek Road, will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Jack Hamlette and Gilmer Smithers. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
She died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, in her residence. She had been in declining health for two years.
Born May 23, 1921, in Scotland County, N.C., she was a daughter of John Henry Fowler and Annie Bell Simmons Fowler.
On Feb. 6, 1937, she was married to Robert Granville Wright, who survives.
She spent most of her life in Pittsylvania County, where she was a homemaker. She was also of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include a son, Robert E. Wright of the residence; three daughters, JoAnn W. Nelson of Sutherlin, Deloris W. Smithers of Ringgold, and Retha Geneva W. Dawson of Chesapeake; a brother, John H. Fowler of Tarboro, N.C.; two sisters, Alice F. Haynes of Danville and Rosie Fowler of Tarboro, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Franklin Adkins

Franklin "Mullin" Adkins, 54, of 486 Norwood Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 17, 1942, in Danville, he was the son of Ledford Adkins and Virginia Grant Adkins, who survives.
He spent most of his life in Danville, where he was a truck driver for J. Clint Fleming Trucking Co. until six years ago.
He was of the Baptist faith, and had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his mother of the residence.
The graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Tom Erwin. American Legion Memorial Post 325 Honor Guard will conduct graveside military honors.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sylvia Garrett

Sylvia Grace Garrett, 58, of 233 Parsons St., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996, at her home.
Born Aug. 2, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Robert W. Garrett and Victoria Grace Garrett. She was reared by her stepmother, Elma H. Garrett, who survives.
She was of the Baptist faith and had been employed at Stratford Inn.
Her former husband was Eldridge R. Meeks Sr.
Survivors include four daughters, Monalisa M. Custer, Alice M. Smithey, Sylvia M. Williams and Mary M. Widdifield all of Danville; five sons, Eldridge R. Meeks Jr., James W. Meeks, David W. Meeks, Preston K. Meeks and Michael R. Hamilton all of Danville; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons.
The graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Garrett Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Kirby

AMHERST COUNTY - Evelyn Adams Kirby, 86, of Route 4, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996, in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born May 22, 1910, in Amherst County, N.C., she was the daughter of John Bernard and Bessie Martin Adams.
She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church.
She was married to Doug Kirby, who predeceased her.
Survivors include two sons, Allen Rodenhizer of Danville and Tony Leebrick Jr. of Amherst; one sister, Mildred Camden of South Boston; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday in Amherst cemetery by the Rev. Eugene Beverly.
The family received friends Sunday night at Piney River Funeral Home.

Margie Myers

Margie Ricketts Myers, 71, of 845 River Ridge Road, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 24, 1925, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of William Leonard Ricketts and Ida Coleman Ricketts.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Greensboro, N.C., and she had worked as a sales clerk for Belk-Leggett in Greensboro and Danville.
She was first married to Preston J. Haley, who predeceased her, and was later married to Malcolm Lee Myers, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four sisters, Eleanor R. Richardson and Mildred R. Buckner both of Danville, Inez R. Hopkins of Richmond and Ruby R. Cleary of Greensboro, N.C.; and one brother, Charlie E. Ricketts of Danville.
She was predeceased by a sister, Annie R. Collins.
The graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Frederick J. Vicks.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times will be at the brothers' residence, 199 Jordan St.

Annie Walton

Annie Moten Petty Walton, 78, of 832 Claiborne St., died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Born Sept. 4, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Pete Petty and Sally Lovelace Petty.
She was married to Franklin Walton, who predeceased her.
Survivors include two daughters, Matilda Coleman of Danville and Sallie Maxine Johnson of Camp Spring, Md.; five sons, Franklin Walton Jr. of Washington, D.C., Floyd Walton, Lloyd Walton and Clarence Walton all of Danville, and William Samuel Walton of Virginia Beach; one sister, Martha Stephens of Pittsylvania County; and several grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Union Street Bapatist Church by the Rev. Samuel Griffith. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Matilda Coleman, 630 Rosemary Ln.
Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Andrews

GRETNA - Doris Daniel Andrews, 71, 410 Henry St., died Tuesday, June 11, 1996, in Santa Monica, Calif.
Born May 19, 1925, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of James Owen Daniel and Myrtle Clark Fisher Daniel.
She was predeceased by her husband, Denver Ramsey Andrews.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Reservco Co. as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of O.E.S. Chapter #118 of Gretna, and a charter member and former president of the Winchester Woman's Club. She was also a member of Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Clark Andrews of Charlotte, N.C., and Denver Ramsey Andrews Jr. of Santa Monica, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Southall-Vess. Interment will be in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, in Gretna, and other times at the residence.
