Donald Terry
Donald Lee Terry, 41, of 1849 Fall Creek Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 1996, in the Veterans Medical Care Center in Salem.
Born April 25, 1955, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Willie Spencer Terry and Helen Waller Terry-Jones.
Terry was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps for two years.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Waller Terry-Jones of Danville; three sisters, Helena Terry White and Teresa Hope Terry, both of the home, and Margie Terry McDuiffie of Danville; one brother, Larry Spencer Terry of Roanoke; his paternal grandmother, Classie Terry of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow at Oak Hill cemetery.
The viewing and visitation will be held 7-8 p.m. tonight at Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home, and at other times the family will receive friends at the home of a sister, Margie Terry McDuiffie, 2127 Robin Hood Drive.
Frances Dillard
Frances Lee Dillard, 80, formerly of 119 Eastwood Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born April 21, 1916, in Danville, she was a daughter of Charlie Otis Dillard and Mannie Mahan Dillard.
She was a member of Baptist Tabernacle and a member of Autormin Class at the church.
Survivors include two sisters, Sybil D. Keller of Danville and Louise Dillard Kusher of Chapel Hill, N.C.
The graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in Floral Hills Memory Gardens by the Rev. Lamarr Mooneyham and the Rev. Cleo Hundley.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home and other times will be at the sister's residence, 1172 South Boston Road.
Stona Reid
Stona Stallings Reid, 81, formerly of 22 Noel Ave., died Sunday morning, Sept. 22, 1996, in Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born April 27, 1915, in Caswell County, N.C., she was a daughter of Alexander David "Nick" Stallings and Lottie Belle Durham Stallings.
She spent most of her life in Danville and was retired from No. 1A Weave Room at Dan River Inc. She was a member of Schoolfield Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher.
She had resided at Roman Eagle for six years.
She was married
to Otha Garland Reid Sr., who is predeceased.
Survivors include two sons, David Wallace Reid of Troy, N.C., and Otha Garland Reid Jr. of Martinsville; one daughter, Betty Jean Campbell of Danville; six brothers, Percy Stallings, Leonard Stallings and James Otis Stallings all of Danville; Curtis Stallings of Bachelors Hall; Fred Stallings of Pelham, N.C., and Ted Stallings of Blairs; four sisters, Ethel Edmonds and Mary Boaze, both of Danville; Gladys Duncan of Woodstock, Ga., and Mabel Olivia "Libby" Thompson of Martinsville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in Danville Memorial Gardens by the Rev. David R. Turbyfill.
The family will receive friends 7:30-9 tonight at Swicegood Funeral Home, and other times will be at the home of her daughter, Betty Campbell, 472 Conifer Drive.
Doris Barker
Doris Collie Barker, died Sunday, September 22, 1996.
Born March 5, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Ewart Wister Collie and Lovelene Bradley Collie.
She was married
to Edwin Clark Barker, who died Feb. 24, 1981.
Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was employed as a deputy clerk by the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court. She was also a member of Kentuck Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Barker Evans of Danville; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. today from Kentuck Baptist Church by the Rev. David Henry. The family will hold a private burial.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, 113 Clarendon Circle.

Sidney "Buddy" Beck Jr.
Sidney W. "Buddy" Beck Jr., 69, formerly of 316 Parkland Drive, died Monday, Sept. 23, 1996, in Camelot Nursing Home of Salem.
Born Feb. 14, 1927, in Danville, he was a son of Sidney W. Beck Sr. and Leafy Payne Beck.
He was married
to Mamie L. House Lodge Beck, who died Jan. 11, 1996.
He was a member of Third Avenue Christian Church, where he was a member of Chapel Bible Class, and formerly served in the choir.
He was employed by Martinsville Wrought Iron and Steel. Prior to his retirement in 1977, he became owner of Danville Wrought Iron and Steel. He also worked for Newport News Shipyard.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived a daughter, Beverly Beck of Richmond; two sons, Roger Beck of West Palm Beach, Fla., and David Lodge of Roanoke.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Barker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Frederick J. Vicks and the Rev. Eugene Talley. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

William Giles
William Wesley Giles, 3130 Westover Drive, died Monday, September 23, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 10, 1913, in Danville, he was a son of Hume Anderson Giles and Annie Harvie Giles.
He was married
to Judith Shell Giles, who died Aug. 23, 1991.
He was a life-long resident of Danville and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and in the European Theater.
He was employed by Sears in the Sporting Goods Dept. and later at J.C. Penney until his retirement.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Robert Adams
CASCADE - Robert Lee Adams, 72, 281 Tender Lane, died Monday, Sept. 23, 1996.
Born in Pittsylvania County, he was a member of Cascade Primitive Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Dan River Mills.
He was married
to Hattie C. Adams, who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, John Adams of Oxon Hill, Md.; three daughters, Hattie Adams Artis of Eden, N.C., Gloria Adams and Roseann Adams, both of Oxon Hill; a brother, Clarence Waverly Adams of Eden, N.C.; five sisters, Ella Mae Wilson of Danville, Doretha Hairston of Cascade, Virginia Turner of Washington, Lelia Findley of Bethesda, Md., and Frances Collins of Amityville, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from Cascade Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Jeffery Hairston. Burial will be in Assembly Chapel Church cemetery.

Herman Ferrell
FREDERICKSBURG - Herman Lee Ferrell, 93, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1996, in Mary Washington Hospital.
Born April 3, 1903, in Caswell County , N.C., he was a son of Samuel Ferrell and Lou Yeatts.
He was married
to Lucille Hawkins Ferrell, who survives.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Woolworth Department Store as a manager.
He was the oldest active member of Masonic Lodge No. 4 AF and AM in Fredericksburg. He was also a former member of the Washington, Ruritans and the Chester Lions Club in Chester, Pa., and an honorary member of Chancellor Ruritan Club.
He was also a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Caswell County.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Ferrell, and by a sister, Margaret F. Baysinger.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Wilderness Baptist Church cemetery in Spotsylvania by the Rev. Amos Healy. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2:30-5:00 and 7-8:30 today at the residence.
