Michael Shelton
CHATHAM - The funeral for Michael Edward Shelton, 39, 116 Peach St., will be conducted 11 a.m. today from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Don Davidson. Burial will be in Leemont cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 325.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996, as the result of an automobile accident on Route 863.
Born Dec. 25, 1956, in Danville, he was a son of Roy R. Shelton and Marjorie Oakes Shelton, who survive.
On Oct. 9, 1993, he was married
to Lisa Angel-Shelton, who survives.
He spent most of his life in Danville, and was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. He was employed by Exxon Chemical Corporation in Lynchburg as a maintenance technician.
He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Persian Gulf War.
In addition to his parents of Danville and his wife of the residence, he is survived by a daughter, Lauren Ann Shelton of Richmond.
Maude Blue
Maude Stephens Blue, 87, 1265 W. Stokes St., died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996, at her residence.
Born June 6, 1909, in Caswell County, N.C., she was a daughter of the Rev. W.P. Stephens and Rosa Evans Stephens.
She was a member of Weseley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Danville. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Forest Hills Cafeteria.
Survivors include two sisters, Lelia Lipscomb of Blanch, N.C., and Lucille Vonguela of Los Angeles; and three brothers, Willie Stephens of Mebane, N.C., James Stephens of Burlington, N.C., and David L. Stephens of New York.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Sweet Gum Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Mebane, N.C., by the Rev. R.L. Goss. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Lucy Jones
Lucy Daisy Jones Jones, 83, 120 Old Piney Forest Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1996, in Brandon, Fla., while she was on a trip.
Born Feb. 13, 1913, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Edward Jones and Lucy Burnett Jones.
In March 1939, she was married
to Robert Russell Jones, who survives.
She spent most of her life in California and Boulder City, Nev., but moved to Danville when she retired in 1985. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
In addition to her husband of Danville, survivors include two sisters, Nancy J. Abbott of Richmond and Rachel J. Ferro of Memphis, Tenn.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main Chapel, by the Rev. Henry Taylor and the Rev. Bennett Shelton. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of her sister-in-law, Ruby Jones, 1649 N. Main St.
Ethel A. Carpenter
Ethel Adams Carpenter, of 542 Parkland Drive, died Sunday morning, August 25, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 6, 1910, in Danville, she was a daughter of James T. Adams and Rosa Glidewell Adams.
She had lived all of her life in Danville and had worked for Dan River Inc. for a number of years.
She was a member of College Park Baptist Church. She was married
to Carl M. Carpenter. He died March 26, 1983.
Survivors include one brother, James L. Adams of Suffolk.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Burial Park by the Rev. David Henry.
The family will receive friends at the residence of William B. and Thomas Adam Hill, 462 Brentwood Drive.

John T. DeHart Sr.
John Thomas DeHart Sr., 81, of 3524 U.S. 29, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 1996, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spray, N.C., he was a retired loom fixer with Dan River Mills.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle DeHart of the residence; one son, John Thomas DeHart Jr.; one stepson, Ronald Taylor of Smith Mountain Lake; two brothers, Edmond "Paul" DeHart of Ridgeway, and Bill G. DeHart of Eden, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Overlook cemetery.

Mollie Wooten
The funeral for Mollie Phillips Wooten, 91, 972 Inman Road, Brosville, will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jimmy R. Hussey and the Rev. Gilbert A. Hawks. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
She died Saturday, Aug. 24, 1996, in the Blue Ridge Nursing Home after a two-year decline in health. She had been in the nursing home since Oct. 2, 1995.
Born June 16, 1905, in Spruce Pine, N.C., she was a daughter of Jim Phillips and Bertha Dixon Phillips.
She had lived in the Brosville community for the past 25 years and was a housewife. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.
She was married
to Luther Lockwood Wooten, who died Feb. 14, 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Louise Hodges of Brosville and Mary Elizabeth Jones of Bristol, Tenn.; one son, William Turner Wooten of Brosville; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, and at other times, will be at the residence.
Virginia Wyatt
JAVA - The funeral for Virginia Shelton Wyatt, 73, 4857 Java Road, will be held 2 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main Chapel, by the Rev. Samuel F. Caldwell and the Rev. Roger Wilborn. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
She died Saturday, Aug. 24, 1996, at Stratford House after a five-month decline in health. She had been at Stratford House for three months.
Born Jan. 20, 1923, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Ballard Shelton and Julia Hutcherson Shelton.
She lived most of her life in Pittsylvania County, where she was a homemaker and owned and operated the H.B. Wyatt Store in Java with her late husband.
She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
On April 4, 1942, she married
Harwood Brown Wyatt, who died on Oct. 13, 1975.
Survivors include three sons, Harwood Wayne Wyatt of Danville, Don Randolph Wyatt of Arlington, Texas, and Tracy Allan Wyatt of Java; four brothers, Otha Shelton of Chatham, Russell Shelton of Dry Fork, Kessler Shelton of Richmond, and Wesley T. Shelton of Danville; two sisters, Florence S. Pugh of Lynchburg and Edith Long Bray of Norfolk; and three grandchildren.
The family will be at the residence.
William Gunn
William Lee Gunn, 61, 425 Downing Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 1996, in his residence following a year of declining health.
Born Sept. 28, 1934, in Caswell County, N.C., he was a son of Elizabeth Foster Gunn, who survives, and William L. Gunn.
On Feb. 17, 1961, he was married
to Elaine Walker Gunn, who survives.
He had resided in Danville for the past 35 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in the leaf department. He was also a member of Yanceyville United Methodist Church.
He also served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 11 in Caswell County, N.C.
In addition to his mother of Yanceyville, N.C., and his wife of the residence, survivors include a son, Craig D. Gunn of Danville; a daughter, Johnsie G. Wiley of Charlotte, N.C.; and a sister, Nancy G. Bush of Phoenix.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Rev. Ray Wiggs and the Rev. Tim Nuckels. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Virta Angle
Virta Sigmon Angle, 90, 154 Martindale Drive, died Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, in Riverside Health Care Center, following several years of declining health.
Born Dec. 29, 1905, in Franklin County, she was a daughter of Jehue D. Sigmon and Melinda Catherine Smart Sigmon.
She was married
to Talmage Raymond Angle, who died April 28, 1971.
She spent her early life in Roanoke. After moving to South Carolina, she and her husband owned and operated a motel off Highway 301 and 321 before moving to Danville in 1967.
She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Westover Senior Fellowship Club, Senior Citizens Club, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Akers of Roanoke and Ocie Owen of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday from Swicegood Chapel by the Rev. Larry Edmonds. Burial will be in Schoolfield cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Ruth Feibelman
Ruth M. Feibelman, 73, 418 Linden Place, died Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 8, 1923, in Cologne, Germany, she was a daughter of Herman Muller and Emilie Russ Muller.
She was married
to Walter Joseph Feibelman, who died July 15, 1974.
She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom.
She is survived by several cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. today from Green Hill cemetery by Rabbi Israel Gerber. A memorial service will be held 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Temple Beth Sholom by Rabbi Israel Gerber.

Clester Glass
JAVA - Clester Davis Glass, 64, 1061 Church Road, died Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, in her residence.
Born May 4, 1932, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Edd Davis and Nannie Wooden Davis.
She was married
to Royal Glass, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Java. She was also a member of Riceville Eastern Star Chapter No. 168 and served on the Nurses' Board of Riceville Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, she is survived by a sister, Cassie Richardson of Java; and a brother, Shields Davis of Chester, Pa.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. John V. Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Gretna, and other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Lanier in Java.
