Nate Ford, Jr.
Nate Ford, Jr., 50, of Manassas, died Friday, August 8, 2003, at Prince William Hospital. He was born January 22, 1953 in Fauquier County to the late Nate Ford, Sr. and Thelma Hill Jones.
Mr. Ford loved softball and enjoyed playing it most of his life.
Mr. Ford is survived by his wife, Laura Ford of Brandy Station, two daughters, Trixy Robinson of Fredericksburg and Keisha Fullerton of Brandy Station, one son, Nathaniel Robinson of Midland and one grandson, Maleke Fullerton of Brandy Station.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Gladys Jones of Morrisville and Ola Morton of Charlottesville, three brothers, Harrison Grayson of Maryland, Roger Hill of Culpeper and Joe Lewis of Warrenton and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at Rockhall cemetery, in Madison, with Rev. Henry A. Townes officiating.

Charles Augustus Wood
Charles Augustus Wood, 76, of Boston, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born October 26, 1913 in Washington, D.C. to the late Sydney Archer
Wood and Edna Elizabeth Boger Wood.
Mr. Wood was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Wood was a lifetime member and present commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2524, and past member of the honor guard.
He was a member of the Rappahannock Lions Club and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. He was formerly employed with the Rappahannock Co-op and currently employed with the Oasis CD Duplication.
Mr. Wood is survived by two daughters, Gail B. Filyo of California, MD and Peggy M. Wood of Gaithersburg, MD, and one son, Charles A. Wood, Jr. of Laurel, MD.
Additional survivors include one grandson, Stephen Filyo, Jr., six great-grandchildren, Stephen Christopher Filyo, Jackson Nicholas Filyo and Ryan Alexander Filyo and Warren and Megan Fogitt and Danielle Gardiner, and one brother, Sydney Archer of Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet S. Wood and one sister, Dorothy Harty.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Pastor Debbie Frye officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National cemetery with honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524.

James W. Burke
James W. Burke, 86, of Culpeper, died on Saturday, August 9, 2003, at his residence. He was born November 24, 1916 in Brandy Station to the late Roy C. Burke, Sr. and Maude Melton Burke.
Mr. Burke was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by a son, James William Burke, Jr. of Culpeper, and a daughter, Betty Jo Troiano and husband Bill of Culpeper, and two grandchildren, Anthony Troiano of Culpeper and Maya Zan Ippolito of Richmond. He is also survived by a brother, Hubert Kemper Burke of Scotia, N.Y.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Pierce Burke.

Edith C. Ouellette
Edith C. Ouellette, 86, of Culpeper, died August 9, 2003, at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 17, 1917 to the late Oscar F. Bates and Elva Weakley Bates.
Mrs. Ouellette was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, E.J. Ouellette and wife Libby of Culpeper. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Catherine Ouellette of Fredericksburg, Samatha Cassedy of Woodbridge and Joey Ouellette of Woodbridge.
Also surviving is one sister, Francis Hensley.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ouellette was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Ouellette, Sr., one sister, Marie Sophia and one brother, Oscar Bates, Jr.

Fred (Mike) Hoffmann
Fred (Mike) Hoffmann, 67, of Amissville, Va., died on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Fauquier Hospital.
He was born October 18, 1935 in Hungary.
He worked as an auto body technician at Fairfax Chrysler Plymouth for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mrs. Ann R. Hoffmann of Amissville, Va.; two daughters, Debbie Carpenter of Madison, Va., Cindy Summers of Culpeper, Va.; one son, Chris Hoffmann of Culpeper, Va.; two sisters, Emily Petry and Maria Petrovich of Arlington Heights, IL; three grandchildren, Tinsley Summers, Jared Carpenter and Brandon Summers.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home Chapel in Warrenton.
Interment will be in Bright View cemetery.

Louise V. (Williams) Terrell, 62, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Culpeper, Va., died on Friday, August 1, 2003, at her residence. Ernest Bernard
CALLANDS - Ernest Everette Bernard, 61, of 3261 Wateroak Road, died Sunday, April 14, 1996, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 29, 1934, in Franklin County, he was a son of John Samuel Bernard and Letha Ann McBride Bernard.
He was a farmer in his early days, and for the last 11 years worked for American Furniture Co. of Martinsville.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Kathleen Tuck Bernard, of the residence; one daughter, Wendy Kathleen Bernard of the residence; four sons, Charles Everette Bernard of Danville, Ricky Dale Bernard of Martinsville, Tony Dean Bernard of Danville and Donald Glenn Bernard of Callands; one brother, James Bernard of Chatham; three sisters, Vergie Smith of Rocky Mount, Janie Adkins of Axton, and Mary Wells of Danville; and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, John Herbert Bernard.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Christian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times will at the residence.
Robert Coles
Master Sgt. Robert Demetrius Coles, 33, of 164 White St., died Saturday, April 7, 1996, while serving in the U.S. Army in Italy.
Born Aug. 1, 1962, in Danville, he was the son of Barbara S. Coles who survives.
Other survivors include four sisters, Karen Harris of Lynchburg, Sheila Coles, Kathy Pounds and Andrea Jones all of Danville; three brothers, Leonard Coles of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Donzell Coles and Barton Shirley both of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. W.J. Toomer. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Poulia Aslane Goches, 83, died Sunday morning, April 14, 1996, in Riverside Health Care Center.
Born Sept. 11, 1912, in Stenoma, Greece, she was a daughter of Serafim Aslane and Fotinia Aslane.
She was a member of Saint Peter's Greek Orthodox Church and was married
to Christ John Goches, who died Aug. 27, 1970.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam G. Katsifos of Martinsville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Saint Peter's Greek Orthodox Church by Father Thomas Ninnis. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. today at Townes Funeral Home.

Ann Marie Setliff
Ann Marie Setliff, 51, of 353 Ferry Road, died Sunday morning, April 14, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center after a two-week decline in health. She had been in the hospital for one week.
Born Aug. 14, 1944, in Danville, she was a daughter of Willie Joe Setliff Jr., who survives, and Una Jefferson Setliff.
She spent her entire life in Danvile, where she worked as an inspector in quality control at Corning Inc. for 23 years. She worked until her health failed.
She was a graduate of George Washington High School and was a member of Stokesland Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her father of the home, include a brother, William "Joe" Setliff of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of Swicegood Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Ledbetter and the Rev. Don Frank. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times will be at the residence.
