Viola Florence Donald, 89, of Culpeper died Sunday September 1, 2002 at Autumn Care of Madison. She was born November 10, 1912 in Orange County to the late Edward Jenkins and Martha Bell Jenkins. Mrs. Donald was a devoted church member and homemaker. Survivors include five sons, Loyce William Donald and his wife, Bonnie both of Montgomery, AL, Gene Thomas Donald and his wife, Beverly both of Fredericksburg, James Winfrey Donald of Alexandria, David Wayne Donald and his wife, Linda both of Hood, VA, and Roger Allen Donald and his wife, Ann both of Culpeper. Additional survivors one brother, James Jenkins of Culpeper, include sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, William Winfrey Donald, one brother, Jesse Jenkins and three sisters, Ruby Beahm, Nora Beahm and Elizabeth Corbin. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 5, at 2 p.m. at Fairview cemetery with Pastor Archie Seale officiating. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangments.

James Hiawatha Williams departed this life September 5, 2002, at his home. He was born March 23, 1920 in Rappahannock County, VA to the late Charles H. and Maude Williams. James was educated in the Friends Boarding School in Manassas, VA. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Sunny Foundation Lodge #1897 of the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows. He worked at the foundry in Culpeper for many years before going to work for the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC where he retired after 30 plus years of service. James joined the Nazareth Baptist Church at a very early age where he had remained an active member until his health failed. He loved to sing and sang in many choirs and groups. He was devoted to the study of God's word and dedicated to worshipping God. Although we all loved him, God loved him best and called him home to eternal rest. He leaves to mourn his passing, a daughter, Maude Williams and her husband, James T. Williams both of Culpeper; two sons, Charles D. Williams and his wife, Frances Williams both of Centreville and James H. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Jann Williams both of Modesto, CA; and Ruth Williams of Washington, DC, mother of Maude and James. Additional survivors include four granddaughters, Katina Hunter of Culpeper, Kasha Williams and Jameelah Williams both of California and Ameshia Colbert of Bealeton; four grandsons, James T. Williams, Jr. of Culpeper, Timothy Williams of Castleton, Darnell Williams of Winchester and James Montrel of Modesto, CA; eleven great grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew and a host of dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Williams, Theodore Matthews, and Otha "Bill" Williams. The family will receive friends Monday, September 9, from 7t o 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 10, at 11 a.m. at Nazareth Baptist Church, in Boston with Rev. Howard R. Frye officiating. Interment will follow in Nazareth Baptist Church cemetery with honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524. Velma E. Hull, 90, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Wilburn Gardens. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Mead of Fredericksburg; a brother, Paul Skrovanek of Ohio; a sister, Ann Rakaas of Binghamton, NY; two grandchildren, Dana Mark Mead of Stafford and Major Diane Humerick of Florida and four great grandchildren. Joseph Benton Hudson, Jr., of Culpeper, Virginia, age 82, died at his home on October 15, 2002. He was born July 27, 1920 in Slate Mills of Rappahannock County, Virginia, son of the late Joseph Benton Hudson and Hannah Norris Hudson. After graduating from Culpeper County High School in 1938, he attended the University of Richmond. He thereafter joined the Virginia State Police and served as a Trooper in the Keysville, Virginia area. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and subsequently served as a radar navigator on a B-29 Superfortress with the Sixth Bomb Group, 313th Wing, 20th Air Force. He flew 23 combat missions against the Japanese Empire and after the Japanese surrender, he continued flying missions, dropping supplies to Allied prisoners of war. For his service, he was awarded numerous campaign decorations, including the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, as well as the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve during the Korean War. Upon his return from World War II, he graduated from T. C. Williams School of Law and was admitted to practice before the Virginia Supreme Court in October 1949. In the same year, he married
Nancy Jane Copenhaver, of Bristol, Virginia and joined Jackson Lee Fray to practice law with Fray & Hudson in Culpeper, Virginia. He practiced law with his firm 52 years, retiring in 2001. During his law career he also served as a member of the Culpeper Town Council, was a founding member of the Country Club of Culpeper, Inc., chaired the Seventh District Ethics Committee of the Virginia State Bar, served as a board member and later as Chairman of the Board of Jefferson Savings & Loan Association and also served on the statewide Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board. He was appointed by the Circuit Court of Culpeper County to serve as Commissioner of Accounts for Culpeper County from 1985 to 2000. He was for many years, and until his passing, an active participant and ardent supporter of the Commemorative Air Force, an association devoted to the preservation and teaching of the history of United States World War II military aircraft. For the past twelve years he frequently flew across the country on "Fifi", the only airworthy B-29 still in existence. He gave much of his time and resources over the years to help young people understand the sacrifices of World War II veterans. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William Francis Hudson and his stepdaughter, Katherine J. Martin. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hart Hudson, his son Joseph Benton Hudson III and wife Myriam, of Reva, Virginia, his son Robert Copenhaver Hudson and wife Ann, of Culpeper, Virginia, his grandchildren, Joseph Benton Hudson IV, Erin Laine Hudson, Robert Copenhaver Hudson, Jr., Anna Wade LeCount Hudson, his step-children, Norman Blake Martin III and wife Diana, Anthony Hart Martin and wife Mary Helen, Kimberly Ann Martin, Patricia Martin Bunch and husband Jeff and his step-grandchildren, Alexander B. Martin, Harrison H. Martin, Macon N. Martin, Madison H. Martin and Payton Kimberly Bunch. The family will receive friends at Found & Sons Funeral Home in Culpeper, Virginia on Friday, October 18, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A church service will be held at the Culpeper Baptist Church on West Street, Culpeper, Virginia, on Saturday, October 19, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at the Masonic cemetery, in the Town of Culpeper. Hilda Goode Dahlen, 83, of Stafford died on Monday, September 30, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Smith of Reston and Paula and son-in-law, Ken Hatton of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Adam Smith of Brookline, Massachusetts, and Patrick Smith of Brooklyn, New York, Beth and Ted Hatton of Kalamazoo; a sister, Lula Winfree of Richmond and a sister - in - law, Ina A. Dahlen of St. Paul, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dahlen. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2002 at Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church at 10:00 am. Mrs. Dora E. Wright, 85 of Spotsylvania died Sunday September 8. A lifelong homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and was an artist. She was preceded in death by her husband, police officer Herbert Wright. She is survived by three daughters Darlene J. Newberger and Kay Martin both of Spotsylvania, and Gayle Strauss of Encinitas, CA; a son Herbert T. Wright, Jr. of Sandpoint, Idaho; ten grandchildren Steve and Bryan Greer, Donna Williams, Michael and Robert Newberger, Sharon Bergmann, Christie, April, Kimberly, and Joey; Many great-grandchildren; and a brother Smith Tiller of Jacksonville, FL. Florine Evelyn Smith, 82, of Amissville, died Saturday, November 30, 2002, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was born February 9, 1920 in Viewtown to the late George Ernest Dodson and Neva Florence Nicholson Dodson. Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Juanita E. Smith, and a son, Dan R. Smith, both of Amissville. She is also survived by three grandchildren, David R. Smith, LaDeana Smith, and Christy Hensley, and nine great-grandchildren, Danny, Tiffany, Joshua, Connor, Amanda, Alyssa, Brishen, Savion, and Melissa. Additional survivors include three great-great-granchildren, Mckenzie, Logan, and Ethan, one sister, Mattie Hackley, of Amissville, and two brothers, Robert M. Dodson, of Bealton, and Milton L. Dodson, of Grand Junction, CO. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Russell Clarence Smith, and a son, David Russell Smith. She is also preceded in death by five sisters, Nellie Nicholson, Mae Settle, Bertie Hackley, Gladys Mozingo and Neda Scott, and four brothers, Jack, Thomas, Eugene and Acrey Dodson. Mable Merford Johnson of Washington, DC, suddenly went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 24, 2002. She was born May 29,1924 in Norman, Virginia to the late James Clifford and Nancy Bell Williams. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Johnson; One son, Jack and his wife Julia Johnson of Arlington; Five daughters, Carrie Robinson of Capital Heights, Maryland; Laverne C. Johnson Adams, of Rixeyville, Virginia, Gloria Mae McNeill of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Nancy Jacquelyn Johnson and Patricia Ann Johnson, both of Washington, DC. Mrs. Johnson is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close loved ones. She is also survived by four sisters, Lottie White, Lillian White, Alice White and Loretta Straughter. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy L. Joseph D. "Ski" Laskowski, 73 of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 at home. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Laskowski was a veteran of the Korean War who served in the military for over 20 years. His military career began with the United States Marine Corps and concluded with the Air Force where he earned the rank of Master Sergeant. During that period, he served as a Presidential bodyguard for Dwight D. Eisenhower. After his retirement from the military, Mr. Laskowski moved to Fredericksburg and was employed by Oscar Tate Buick/Pontiac for over 15 years. Survivors include Evelyn Joyce Laskowski, his wife of over 47 years; four sons, Dennis K. Davis, Joseph T. Laskowski, David C. Laskowski, and Michael C. Laskowski and a daughter Sandra A. Covington all of Spotsylvania. He is also survived by a brother, Ray Lance of South Euclid, Ohio, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The pallbearers will be Tommy Jordan, Guy McCook, Michael Kujawski, James Maher III, James Harper and Jeff Sale. Theodore Davis Follin, Jr., 79, of Culpeper, VA, formerly of Fairfax, VA died Friday, February 28, 2003, at his home. He was born November 14, 1923 in Lincoln, VA to the late Theodore Follin and Stella Moreland Follin. Mr. Follin is survived by his wife, Dessie M. Follin of Culpeper, one son, Theodore D. Follin, III, one daughter, Sharon D. Jacobs, two brothers, Ira Gordon Follin of Woodstock, VA and E. Lynn Follin of Brunswick, MD, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Follin "Ted" was previously the owner of Ted Follin's Towing in Fairfax, VA. He also owned Opal Truck and Equipment in Opal. Shane Andrew Jenkins, 14, of Midland departed this life on Thursday, February 27, 2003 to be with our heavenly Father. He was born December 10, 1988 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Shane was a member of Sommerville Youth Ruritan. He enjoyed and was active in wrestling. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Jenkins, his sister, Wendy Pullen, and two brothers, Joe Pullen and James Smith, and a grandmother, Ruth Nicholson, all of Culpeper. Additional survivors include one aunt, Debbie Fincham, two uncles, Steve and Wayne Nicholson, a niece, Carlee Lawson, and a nephew, Kanon Pullen. He is also survived by two close cousins, Rocky and Amy Fincham, numerous other relatives, and several friends at Sommerville Youth Home. Shane is preceded in death by his father, Jesse J. Jenkins, and hiw grandfather, Carl R. Nicholson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2, 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
