Marshall Eugene Brookman, 73, of Culpeper died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born June 7, 1929 in Culpeper County to the late Eugene Brookman and Rebecca Foushee Brookman. Mr. Brookman was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a paratrooper. He was a lifetime member of the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524 and Culpeper American Legion Post #330. He was a proud member of the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team Association "RAKKASAN". Mr. Brookman is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Helen Delores Brookman and three children, Patricia Foan and her husband, Gorden both of Richmond, Michael Brookman of Rixeyville and Rebecca Howington and her husband, Buddy both of Culpeper. Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, Michael Foan, Stephanie Wallace, Christopher Foan, Michelle Henshaw, Matthew Brookman, Bobbie Jo Brown, Brandon Howington and Cory Howington, and four great grandchildren, Jacob Wallace, McKenzie Wallace, Joslyn Henshaw and Isabelle Henshaw. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Dr. Ted W. Fuson officiating. Interment will follow in Culpeper National cemetery with honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Culpeper Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 731, Culpeper, VA 22701. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.

Sadie M. Kline Mrs. Sadie Mae Kline, 62 of Stafford County died as a result of Alzheimer's on Sunday, November 3, 2002 at Heartfields Assisted Living. She was a member of Aquia Episcopal Church and taught English in the middle school level for 38 years. She was employed for the Spotsylvania County School System from 1976 until retiring in 1990. Sadie earned her B.S. degree from Georgia Southern University and later earned her Masters degree in Education from George Mason University. She was a devoted mother, wife and dedicated teacher. Her survivors include her husband; Denny l. Kline; a son, Hank Von Kline of Chicago; three sisters, Dixie King and Nora Jordan both of Georgia, Martha Brennan of California; three brothers, Ross Thompson, Harry Thompson, Grannon Thompson all of Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family requests donations in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 2217 Princess Anne St., Suite 106-1F, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

Patty Seitz, 48 of Stafford, died Friday March 7, 2003 at Mary Washington Hospital. She is survived by two daughters; Kimberly A. Swarens of King George, Tiffany L. Seitz of the home, two sons; William L. Seitz of Stafford, Larry W. Reed of Spotsylvania; her mother, Dorothy M. Seitz of Dumfries; three sisters, Barbara E. Bergesen of Triangle, Mary J. Wilkinson of Woodbridge, Elizabeth J. Anderson of Stafford; three brothers, J.R. Seitz of Dumfries, James J. Seitz, Michael Seitz both of Stafford; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel - Fredericksburg on Tuesday March 11, 2003 at 4:30pm. Burial will be private. Junior Leo Hitt, 72, of Culpeper died Sunday, November 3, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, in Charlottesville. He was born August 31, 1930 in Rixeyville to the late Archie Leo Hitt and Ada Compton Hitt. Mr. Hitt was employed fourteen years at Hanover Shoe Farm, in Hanover, PA. He later worked with Pinkerton Security as a security guard just before he became disabled. Mr. Hitt is survived by his wife, Edna M. Hitt of Littlestown, PA, his son, William Leo Hitt and his wife, Marie of Baltimore, MD, five grandchildren, William Leo Hitt, Jr., Jesica Lynn Howard, Kaitlyn Hitt, Brittney Hitt and Carl Lee Mertz, and four great grandchildren, James William Hitt, Kristina Hitt, April Hitt and Madalyn Howard. He is also survived by a half-sister, Aldean Hitt of Rixeyville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Catherine Mertz. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 7, at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Grove cemetery. Thomas Winfrey Huffman, 73, of Culpeper died Monday, August 19, 2002, at his residence. He was born April 27, 1929 in Culpeper County to the late John William Huffman and Lula Magdalene Hitt Huffman. After retiring from Dupont as a fireman, Mr. Huffman sold produce at Catalpa and worked as a handyman. Mr. Huffman is survived by a very special friend, Addie Darnell of Jackson, SC, and three sons, Michael W. Huffman of Greencastle, IN, Robert T. Huffman of North Augusta, SC and Burma E. Eubanks of Aiken, SC. Additional survivors include one granddaughter, Alicia L. Mihovch of Wanachese, NC, three grandsons, Thomas, Howard and Edmund Eubanks of Aiken, SC, one sister, Margaret MacDonald of Marshall, three brothers, Joseph Huffman of Glen Burnie, MD, William Huffman of Laurel, MD and Duane S. Huffman of Nokesville. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lula Lucas and Annie L. Wade Payne Stanley, Jr., "Buddy", 54, of Warrenton died Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at his residence. He was born April 28, 1948 in Culpeper to Ruth Virginia Stanley of Bealeton and the late Wade Payne Stanley Mr. Stanley was employed at the Airlie Conference Center. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his wife, Nancy Joan Stanley, a son, Richard Wade Stanley, a daughter, Wanda Renae Stanley and a granddaughter, Alisha Renae Stanley all of Warrenton. Additional survivors include one brother, Harvey Stanley and his wife, Corrina both of Opal, one sister, Julia Sutphin and her husband, Emmett both of Bealeton, special friends, Roger Hitt of Viewtown, Walter Sigrist of Bealeton, and Paul Barrett of Arlington. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, and a daughter, Stacy Ann Stanley. Leeamon Gay Kinder, Jr., 54, of Rixeyville died Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at his residence. He was born January 31, 1948 in Harland, Kentucky to the late Leeamon Gay Kinder, Sr. and Maryann Kinder. Mr. Kinder is survived by his wife, Bertha Ann Kinder of Rixeyville and three sons, Leeamon G. Kinder, III and Timothy E. Kinder both of Rixeyville and Jeremy D. Kinder and his wife, Katrina both of Culpeper and one daughter, Christian M. B. Kinder of Rixeyville. Additional survivors include one grandchild, Michael Diez of Fredericksburg, one brother, James H. Raymond Lester Smoot "Butch", a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, age 55, of Sperryville died Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at Culpeper Regional Hospital after a long battle with COPD. Mr. Smoot attended Fellowship Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed his life by being with his family and the worship of God and "The Old Rugged Cross." He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Jane Smoot, two daughters, Mary Ann Frazier and her husband, Eddie Lee Frazier "Tiger" of Washington, VA and Linda Kay Baldwin and her husband, Richie Baldwin of Sperryville, and two grandchildren, Chad Lee Frazier and Katie Baldwin. Additional survivors include his sisters and brothers, Mary Edna Dennis of Castleton, Russell Smoot of South Carolina, Mildred Riley of Winchester, Peggy Parmley of Illinois and Bunnie Smoot of Maryland. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Harvey French Smoot and Cecil Smoot, and three brothers, Tommy Smoot of Delaware, Taylor Smoot of South Carolina and Harold Smoot of Washington, VA. Hazel Irene Williams, 70, of Manassas died Monday, January 27, 2003, at Autumn Care Nursing Home. She was born July 17, 1932 in Aldie, VA to the late Edward Thomas Elkins and Ella N. Baker Elkins. Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons, Roy L. Williams and his wife, JoAnn both of Ruther Glen and E. Thomas Williams and his wife, Dottie both of Culpeper. Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, Melissa and Johnny Williams both of Bealeton, Roxie Denning of Bristow, VA, Tracy Rankin of Catlett, Duane Hendrickson of Winchester, Erica Loux of Winchester, Mandy Wehrle of Harrisonburg and Dale Williams of Culpeper and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Evelyn Downs and Sheila Barker both of Haymarket, and Louise Malamphy of Clifton, VA, one brother, Cecil Elkins of Marshall and a number of neices and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Daniel Williams and one grandson, Tyler Scott Rankin. Tovar and his wife, Kiz E., of Pinetop, AZ, and Steven Mudery, of Manassas, VA, one beloved aunt, Elizabeth Jenkins and two special cousins, Joyce and Tommy Brown, all of Sperryville, VA. Charles Lewis Jenkins, 63 of Culpeper died Monday, September 1, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Jenkins was born October 28, 1938 in Etlan, Virginia to the late James Ralston Jenkins and Martha Virginia Lillard Jenkins of Madison. Mr. Jenkins was a veteren of the United States Army. Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, Karen M. Jenkins, four daughters, Wendy Kowasic and her husband, Derek of South Carolina, Lynne Zaragoza and her husband, Michael, Denise Via and her husband, Joe all of Paw Paw, West Virginia and Heather Jenkins and her husband, Matthew Williams of Blacksburg, and one step-son, Adam Manning of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Natalie, Jessica, Brandy, Eric, Brittney, Joseph, Haley and Austin. Additional survivors include one sister, Becky Tucker of Madison and four brothers, Randolph and Bud Jenkins both of Etlan, Wilmer Jenkins of Syria and Linwood Jenkins or Wolftown.
