Margaret Louise Archer Minor of Chesterfield died January 28, 2002. She was born April 28, 1911 in Petersburg, Va., daughter of the late Edward Peterson Archer and Gracie Childs Archer, widow of James Coleman Minor Jr. They had lived in Gloucester and New Kent, where they operated B.W. Graves Store until his death. She was baptized at Branches Baptist Church and at her death had been a member of Central Baptist Church for 29 years. At Central, she was a member of the Carrie Stein Bible Class, Joy Ministries and the Marjorie Bailey Circle. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Bessie A. Livesay and Anniebelle L. Archer; and brothers, Willie T. Archer and George W. Archer. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Caroline Currin; three nieces, Dolores L. Bryant of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Grace A.
Jones of Matoaca and Marie A. Canoles of Enon; two nephews, George E. Archer Sr. and Gerald Wayne Archer, both of Matoaca; three great-nieces and two great-nephews; loving friends, Joyce Tiller, Peggy Elmore, Elva Marmann and Barb Marmann, Tom and Frances Caffrey, Mary Ann Burroughs, Naomi Trimmer; and Sunday School teacher, Rose Marie Cooper. MORRIS
Ronald G. Morris of Richmond, formerly of New York, died Friday, January 25, 2002 at home. He was a disabled veteran. He is survived by daughter, Terri Brooks; son, Jason Morris; mother, Virginia Morris; two sisters, Ralphene Chamberlain and Linda Hoffman; one brother, Ralph Morris; one grandchild, Bubba Brooks. Mrs. Dorothy Lee Oliver, of Richmond, departed this life Friday, January 25, 2002. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Oliver. She is survived by four daughters, LaVern Gilliam, Gwen Mayo, Pamela Mosley and Rhonda Johnson; two sons, Edward Oliver Jr. and Darryl Lee Oliver; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one brother; four sisters; two daughters-in-law, Deborah Oliver and Margaret Ann Oliver; four sons-in-law, Harold Gilliam, Terry Mayo, Jerry Mosley and Louis Johnson; two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; among them a special friend, Junius Brooks. Edward Rowe Outland, 63, of Varina, died Sunday, January 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Morrison Outland; one daughter, Cary S. Outland; two sons, D. Rowe Outland and John E. "Jay" Outland and his wife, Charlotte; and two granddaughters, Alison and Mary Katherine. Mr. Outland was the owner of Laburnum Financial Services, a life member of the Henrico Volunteer Rescue Squad and retired from Reynolds Metals. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 811 West Nine Mile Road, Highland Springs. Della M. Patterson, 83, of Richmond, passed away January 27, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George W. Patterson Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Mary L. Johns and Gloria J. Pender; five sons, George W. Jr., Thomas L., Charles W., John R., and Bryan E. Patterson; 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Patterson retired from Reynolds Metals with 30 years service. Ivonia Melton Price, 93, of Richmond, died Sunday, January 27, 2002. She was preceded in death by her son, Harry N. Price Jr. She is survived by two grandchildren, Robert R. Price, Cynthia P. REYNOLDS
Charles B. Reynolds, 88, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a former employee of the City of Richmond, died January 25, 2002. Mr. Reynolds was a charter and life member of the Air Force Association (AFA) and a recipient of the AFA Medal of Merit. He was a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a supporter of the Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Northminster Baptist Church. He was married to Sue Reynolds who predeceased him. Rhonda Gail Richards of Chesterfield died Sunday, January 27, 2002. Mrs. Richards was employed by E.I. duPont. She is survived by her mother, Shasta Gail Hopson of Colonial Heights; two brothers, Jeff Hendrick and wife, Karen of Saltville, Va. and Tracy Hopson of Colonial Heights; and niece and nephew, Dana and Dustin Hendricks. Edward Carlton "Tee" Spence Sr., 92, died January 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Nell Mitchell Spence of Emporia; a daughter, Joyce S. Edwards of Boykins; a son, Edward C. Spence Jr. of Smithfield, N.C.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Gardens of Emporia Cemetery. Claudie Horace Swinson, age 80, of Richmond, died on Sunday, January 27, 2002. He was the widower of Janet M. Swinson. Survivors include his children, Charles E. Swinson, Lewis I. Swinson, Cheryle A. Miller, Robert T. Swinson, Carol L. Davis, William B. Swinson, Audra L. Swinson and Shawn E. Swinson; four brothers, Hallie D., Paul D., Roy Lee and Albert T. Swinson; five sisters, Lucille S. Swartz, Gladys S. Harrison, Alma Dean Hamby, Lorraine S. Sheppard and Daisy Bell Morris; 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild. Mr. Swinson was a member of Chippenham Church of Christ and was retired from DGSC after 15 years of service. Mary T. Thompson, 68, of 19919 Christanna Highway, Lawrenceville, Va., died January 26, 2002 at Greensville Memorial Hospital, Emporia, Va. She was born November 2, 1933 in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Willie T. and Bessie
Smith Thompson. She received her early education and high school diploma from the Nelson County Public School System. She graduated from St. Paul's College, Lawrenceville, Va., and received her Master's degree from Longwood College, Farmville, Va. She was a devoted teacher for 37 years in the Brunswick County School System. She was an active member in the St. Paul's Memorial Chapel and numerous civic and social organizations. She was preceded in death by her brother, Fred D. Thompson Sr.; and sister, Shirley M. Thompson. She is survived by Tenus F. Thompson, her devoted husband of 43 years; son, Tenus F. "Tommy" Thompson Jr.; daughter, Paula C. Thompson; granddaughter, Kelly M. Thompson; grandson, Reginald G. Thompson; one sister, Myrtle B. Thompson; and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives and friends. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 30 at St. Paul's Memorial Chapel, Lawrenceville, Va. with interment in the church cemetery.
