Barbara Clark Wayland, 49, of Sperryville, Va., died on April 16, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.
She was born on July 15, 1953 in Rappahannock County.
She was the Executive Editor and General Manager of the Rappahannock News.
Her parents were the late John Marshall Clark and the late Annie Irene Pullen Clark.
She is survived by her husband, William T. Wayland of Sperryville, Va.; one daughter, Tiffany Anne Wayland of Sperryville, Va.; one brother, John M. Clark, Jr. of Washington, Va.; four sisters, Betty Pullen of Washington, Va., Shirley Baldwin of Pinnacle, N.C., Rhonda Almarode of Strasburg, Va., Maxie Davis of Culpeper, Va.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. in the Wayland Family cemetery, Sperryville, Va. with Pastor Merlin Shorb officiating.

Carolyn Louise Dean, 56, of Orange, Va., died on Thursday, April 17, 2003, at her residence. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Preddy Funeral Home in Orange. Jean Wilkerson Taliaferro
Jean Wilkerson Taliaferro died Nov. 13, 2003 in Harbour Pointe Medical Center in Norfolk, Va.
She spent her last two years in Portsmouth, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton C. Taliaferro.
Jean is survived by two sons, Franklin, (Norma) and Larry; two grandchildren, Frankie Lawrence and James Taliaferro and two great grandchildren, Taylor and William Lawrence IV.
She is also survived by nephews, Guy Taliaferro, Robert Porter, Tony Porter and Tim porter; nieces Cheryl Humes and Gail Taliaferro.
Jean also leaves behind many friends in the Culpeper community.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 12:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. Milton Branch.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 503-7 N. Main St., Culpeper.

Roy DeWitte Aylor, 62, of Madison, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his residence. Robert Denning
Robert Denning, 78, of Warrenton, Va., died November 13, 2003, at the Cameron Glen Care Center, Reston, Va.
He was born April 11, 1925 in Wayne County, N.C. a son of the late Joel Denning and Vivian Keen Denning.
Mr. Denning served for two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from service with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and later worked for the former MedTran Ambulance Service here in Warrenton as well as a dispatcher for the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Department. He was a volunteer for many years with the Warrenton Volunteer Rescue Squad and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Denning; four daughters, Glenda Doherty of Lancaster, Pa., Deborah Denning of Charlottesville, Va., Susan Denning of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Teresa Denning of Midland, Va.; four sons, Joel Denning of Midland, Va., Christopher Denning of Springfield, Va., Michael Denning of Bristow, Va. and Paul Denning of Florida; two sisters, Peggy Dunlap of Falls Church, Va. and Louise Britt of Smithfield, N.C.; one brother, Kenneth Denning of West Virginia; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, Va. where a Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Warrenton, by Rev. Connie Ray Testerman
Connie Ray Testerman, 58, of Wolftown, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1945 in Princeton, West Virginia.
He was the son of Alma Poole Testerman of Bluefield, West Virginia and the late Robert Thompson Testerman.
Mr. Testerman was retired from Northern Virginia Bell Atlantic and was owner and operator of Able Consultants in Madison County.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne Testerman of Wolftown; a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Gibson and husband Charles of Locust Grove; a son, Matthew Allen Testerman and wife Cindy of Culpeper; two brothers, Robert Keith Testerman and wife Patricia of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, John Mark Testerman of Mt. Airy, Maryland; two sisters, Betty Delores Dofflemyer and husband Robert of Waldorf, Maryland, Wanda Lee Slack and husband Stan of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Crystal, C.J., Kenneth, and Jacob Gibson, Austyn, Jonathan, and Alexander Testerman.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Joyce Testerman.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by Dr. Tommy Palmer. The interment will be at Culpeper National cemetery with military honors conducted by Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and Culpeper VFW Post #2524.

Nancy Vaughan Burns
Nancy Vaughan Burns, 81, of Boston, Virginia, died November 16, 2003, at Culpeper Regional Hospital. Mrs. Burns was born April 25, 1922 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Henry and Ruth Zabel Vaughan. She graduated from Converse College and worked as a pathologist for the U.S. Army in Atlanta during World War II. She married Leonard Hill Burns in 1944. After teaching school for many years, Mrs. Burns earned a master’s degree in library science from the Catholic University of America and worked as a librarian for Fairfax County for over 22 years. She retired 13 years ago and spent many happy hours working in her garden.
She is survived by three daughters, Blair Burns Potter and her husband, Robert, of Easton, Md., Irene Burns and her husband Steven Goldblatt, of Bethesda, Md., and Nancy Burns DeVierno and her husband John, of Kensington, Md., as well as by six grandchildren, Lillian and her husband Mark, Gordon, Sarah, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Andrew.
A memorial service, conducted by The Rev. Michael Gray of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Culpeper, will be held at Mrs. Burns’ home at 11582 O’Bannon’s Mill Road in Boston on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. Her funeral will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg, S.C. on November 24, 2003.
The family asks that instead of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Culpeper, P.O. Box 1046, Culpeper, VA 22701.

Kenneth Alan Dove
Kenneth Alan Dove, 47, of Brightwood, Va., died Monday, November 17, 2003, at his residence.
He was born October 30, 1956 in Alexandria, Va.
He was a self-employed mechanic.
His interests included steam shows, air shows, aquarium, and he loved cats.
Survivors include his parents, Sylva and Janet Dove; two brothers, Michael Bruce Dove of West Virginia, Gehrig Lee Dove of Lexington, Va.; two sisters, Christine "Sissy" Boch of Brightwood, Va., Patricia "Trish" Williams of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Randy M. Dove of Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Dunker officiating.
Interment will be in Bethsaida United Methodist Church cemetery, Brightwood, Va.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles Edward Jones
Charles Edward Jones, 77, of Martinsburg, W.Va., formerly of Covington, Va., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Baltimore Veteran’s Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.
He was born February 17, 1926 in Covington, Va. a son of the late Clarence Ruben and Daisy Golden Jones.
Surviving are four daughters, including Jacqueline Defibaugh of Culpeper, Va.; three sons; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home in Covington, Va.
Interment will be in Lone Star cemetery, Covington, Va.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 20, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home, 1102 S. Highland Avenue, Covington, Va.

Charles Edward Faulconer, 65, of Culpeper, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Kathrine Flora Baker Hill, 78, of Simpsonville, S.C., formerly of Culpeper, Va., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, S.C. Charles Edward Faulconer
Charles Edward Faulconer, 65, of Culpeper, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. Born October 22, 1938 in Madison County, he was the son of the late William Hamilton Faulconer and Violet Watson Faulconer.
Mr. Faulconer was retired as a draftsman and highway consultant from the Virginia Department of Transportation in Culpeper. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee, and administrator of the cemetery.
Charlie will be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate and kind husband, son, son-in-law, father, brother, and friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy C. Faulconer of Culpeper; one son, Jonathan Neal Faulconer of Charlottesville; three brothers, William H. Faulconer and wife Ethel of Orange, G. Harold Faulconer and wife Ann Meade of Orange, Robert G. Faulconer and wife Jacqueline of Boswells Tavern; one sister, Barbara F. Gibson and husband, Bernard of Louisville, Kentucky; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Eunice Carpenter of Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Pastor Brian Wagner will officiate.

Kathrine Flora Baker Hill
Kathrine Flora Baker Hill, 78, of Simpsonville, S.C., formerly of Culpeper, Va., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, S.C. Family and friends will be received at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at 13258 Updike Dr., Culpeper, Va. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at the Culpeper National cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29621 or at www.hospicehouse.net.

Jean Wilkerson Taliaferro
A funeral service for Jean Wilkerson Taliaferro will be held today at 12:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. Milton Branch. Interment will follow in Culpeper National cemetery. Arrangements by W.C. Thompson Funeral Home.

Daniel Eugene Holloway
Daniel Eugene Holloway, 63, of Warrenton, Va., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Hospice of Northern Virginia.
He was born March 20, 1940 in Fairfax, Va.
He retired after 30 years as an electrician for Westfields. He was a dedicated member of Hazel River Assembly of God. He had lived in Amissville and Culpeper.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter M. Holloway.
Survivors include two sons, Ethan Holloway of Bedford, Va., Brandon Holloway of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother, Margaret Holloway of Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Walter Holloway of The Plains, Va., Stephen Holloway of Columbus, Ohio; six sisters, Marion Jackson of Fairfax, Va., Elizabeth Frederick of Luray, Va., Iris Rinker of Warrenton, Va., Barbara Bailey of Vienna, Va., Rose Paris of Gainesville, Va., Juanita Dixon of Winchester, Va.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at Hazel River Assembly of God with Pastor Stephen Dodson, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hazel River Assembly of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 338, Rixeyville, VA, 22737, Hospice of Northern Virginia Donation Center, 9300 Lee Hwy., 5th Floor, Fairfax, VA 22031.
Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton is in charge of the arrangements.
