Sharon Hairston
The funeral for Sharon Elizabeth Hairston, 41, of 1154 Banner St., Martinsville, who died Feb. 20, 2005, was held Thursday at the Greater New Bethel Apostolic Church with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were James Hagwood, Dantae Long, Robert Hairston, Kerry Smith, James Martin and Patrick Mullins.
Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Dewey E. Harris
Dewey Edward Harris, 46, of 4824 Chatham Road, Martinsville, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was born in Callands on Aug. 29, 1958, to David Dewey Harris and Thelma Lee Harris, both deceased.
He was a self-employed carpenter.
Surviving are two sons, Dwayne Atkins of Chatham and Daryll Harris of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Jackie Harris of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Bobbie Lee Harris of Washington, D.C., Ronnie Harris of Martinsville and Dennis Harris of Greensboro; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hines Funeral Services chapel with the Rev. Robert
Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Holland-Harris family cemetery in Callands.
There will not be a wake. The family will receive friends at the home of his aunt, Christine Jones, at 190 Meadow Garden Lane, Martinsville.
William C. Johnson
REIDSVILLE, N.C. Ñ William C. ÒBillÓ Johnson, 67, of 2956 Highway 14, Reidsville, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, en route to Annie Penn Hospital.
He was born on July 28, 1937, to John B.
Johnson and Tribby Ketner Johnson, both deceased. He was employed at Mankin Glass in Burlington.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Ferguson
Johnson of the home and formerly of Martinsville, Va.; three sons, Chris Johnson, Craig
Johnson and Cody Johnson, all of the Burlington area; one daughter, Tammy
Johnson Moore of the Burlington area; a stepson, Robin Corns of Durham; eight grandchildren; a brother, J.B.
Johnson of Atlanta; a half-sister, Sandra Hargis; and other relatives, including several in the Martinsville area.
A memorial service was held Monday at Wilkerson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Morgan Roberts officiating.
Jerry W. Mehaffey
WINCHESTER Ñ Jerry W. Mehaffey, 74, of Harvest Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in Blue Ridge Hospice.
He was born in Fieldale on Dec. 7, 1930, to George W. Mehaffey and Lucy Thomas Mehaffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Annette Flick and Esther Hodges; and a brother, G. Morris Mehaffey.
He retired in 2004 as chaplain at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Crawly Mehaffey; three daughters, Cynthia L. Gruhn of Baltimore, Janice M. Young of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and Amy L. Burns of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, J. Michael Mehaffey of Burke; a sister, Harriet Worsham of Canton, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral was held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Winchester with the Rev. George H. Fletcher officiating. Burial was in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Mary W. Payne
RUSTBURG Ñ Mary Celestia Wright Payne, 86, of 5313 Browns Mill Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at The Oaks of Lynchburg.
She was the wife of Edward Swanson Payne, also deceased.
She was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Henry County, to Charlie Martin Wright and Nannie Martin Wright, both deceased.
She was the last charter member of the Altavista Church of Christ, and a homemaker.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Payne of Rustburg; three daughters, Mildred Floyd of Gladys, Linda Porter of Durham, N.C., and Delma Elmore of Forest; two brothers, Andrew Right of Martinsville and Cooper Wright of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Maude Holley of Callands; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Altavista Church of Christ with Lory Brafford officiating. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service in Altavista, and other times at the home.

Jessie J. Pearl, 78, of Bassett, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.

Kathy T. Penn, 51, of 245 Laurel Drive, Martinsville, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.

Thomas A. Pritchett
Thomas Andrew Pritchett, 70, of 1340 West Fork Road, Cascade, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsylvania County on June 4, 1935, to Felix Andrew Pritchett and Maggie Dalton Pritchett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Avery Lavon Pritchett.
He had worked at Goodwill Industries for a year.
Surviving are his wife, Margie S. Pritchett of the home; three daughters, Belinda Gail Dixon and Brenda Kay Johnson, both of Donora, Pa., and Teresa Diane Pritchett of Pittsburgh; three sons, Curtis Dean Pritchett and Felix Andrew Pritchett, both of Donora, and Timothy Alan Pritchett of Martinsville; a sister, Leonia
Williams of Cascade; 47 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Way of the Cross Church with Bishop Earley Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in the Pritchett family cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends at the church for a half-hour before the funeral, and other times at the home in Cascade.

Essie S. Agee
Essie Sharpe Agee, 91, of 1316 Old Mill Road, Ridgeway, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at her home.
She was born March 29, 1913, in Henry County to Henry Clayton Sharpe and Mary Stanley Sharpe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mose L. Agee, who died in 1971; one son, Darnell Agee; five sisters, Ora S. Barnes, Nellie S. Barnes, Marygoldie S. Durham, Dorothy S. Mabes and Blanche Sharpe; one brother, Rob Sharpe; and one infant brother.
She was a member of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Brinegar of Spencer and Lillie Arrington, Sarah Hurley and Donna Jackson, all of Ridgeway; three sons, Mason Junior Agee of Eden, N.C., David L. Agee of Martinsville and Arnold Timothy Agee of Ridgeway; one brother, Henry Drewry Sharpe of Eden; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services chapel with the Revs. Gary Robertson and Bobby Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetary in Ridgeway.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, and other times at the home.
