CLIFTON FORGE — Raymond Everett "Peanut" Tucker, 78, of 1417 Hamilton Avenue, Clifton Forge died Monday, October 24, 2005 at his residence.
He was born in Clifton Forge, on February 8, 1927 a son of the late James Alston and Vida Broughman Tucker.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Grogan officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
Active Pallbearers will be Adam Kenny, Michael Martin, Steven Keener, Rob Tucker, Tom Tucker, James D. Williams, Jim Garland, William Craft and Todd Fridley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Stinespring, Kevin Stinespring, Dr. Ron Goings, Landon Simpson , Willie Adcock and the many close Co-workers at Dominion Virginia Power.

Jackie Adkins
Jackie Lee Adkins, 58, of 112 N. Magazine Street, died Monday, December 12, 2005, at his residence.
He was born October 20, 1947, in Greenbrier County, W.Va., a son of the late Cecil W. and Beulah Spade Adkins.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Price officiating.
The interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tony Smith, Scott Tingler, Charlie Jamison, Charlie Masters, Robert Crawford and Mike Fisher.
Alternate pallbearers will be Wayne Grimm and Steve Armentrout.
Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends this evening from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

DISTRICT HEIGHT, Md. — Word was received this morning by the Rev. Dianne Quarles and James Brown of the sudden death of their niece, Karla V. Lewis, of District Height, Md.

Ricky Morgan
CLIFTON FORGE — Ricky Dale Morgan, 43, of Route 1, Clifton Forge died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation Center (formerly Liberty House Nursing Home) in Clifton Forge.
Ricky was born March 6, 1962 in Alleghany County, a son of the late George Lewis Morgan, Sr. and Dorothy Nicely Morgan.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had been employed by the Penn Line Tree Service Company as foreman before he became a resident of Liberty House Nursing Home, where he has resided for 17 years. He was a member of Central Advent Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Patsy Smith and Linda Reynolds, and a brother, George L. Morgan, Jr.
He is survived by two sons; Richard Morgan of Sumpter, S.C., and his mother, Joni, and Ricky Persinger of Clifton Forge and his mother Carla, a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" M. Nicely and husband Theodore of Clifton Forge, two brothers, Robert Morgan, Sr. and wife Vicki of Clifton Forge, and Steve Morgan and wife Jeanette of Rochester, N.Y., a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of caring friends at Liberty House Nursing Home.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Rev. Doug Moore officiating.
Interment will follow immediately in the Central Advent Christian cemetery, Clifton Forge.
The pallbearers will be his nephews. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Melvin Proffit
ROANOKE — Melvin Francis “Bub” Proffit, 86, of Roanoke and Smith Mountain Lake, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005.
He was born in Roanoke June 19, 1919, a son of the late John F. and Pearl Proffit.
Melvin was also preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Ferguson Proffit; and a brother, Ernest M. Proffit.
He was a retired manger with Lowe’s Companies and served in the United States Army During World War II in the 29th Division, 116th Infantry, and also played in the U.S. Army Band.
Melvin is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Proffit Vaughn and Stephen Vaughn of Eagle Rock; a son, Paul F. Proffit and his fiancé, Mary Mann, both of Roanoke; six grandchildren; Ehren Vaughn of Eagle Rock; 1st Lt. P. Tyler Vaughn (Lisa), U.S. Army and Lewisburg, W.Va.; Heather Vaughn Keffer (Matt) of Roanoke; Stephanie Vaughn of Roanoke, Elizabeth Summer Proffit of Virginia Beach; Nicholas Alex Proffit of Roanoke; three great-granddaughters, Quinn Vaughn, Chloe Keffer, both of Roanoke; and Sydney Vaughn of Lewisburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Helen Stultz and Betty Mann, both of Roanoke; and Doris Phillippi, of California, Md.; several nieces and nephews and a special friend and companion, Mary Walthall of Salem.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Burial Park with military rites.

Trina Ramsey
Trina Irene Ramsey, age 40, of 5315 Frontier Lane, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.
Ms. Ramsey was born November 8, 1965 in Alleghany County, the daughter of Paul Junior Ramsey and Dreama Rucker Ramsey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. William M. Harris, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Leona Bonner
HOT SPRINGS — Leona D. Bonner, of Kingtown Road, Mitchelltown, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at Liberty House Nursing Center, Clifton Forge.
She was born April 11, 1916, in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late James Dever and Oneita Greisheimer Dever.
She was the wife of the late Wilbur T. Bonner.
Mrs. Bonner was a beautician for many years, working in a number of luxury resorts during her career, including The Breakers in Florida, The Waldorf-Astoria in New York City and The Homestead in Hot Springs.
She was a longtime member of Hot Springs Presbyterian Church where she co-chaired the Ladies Afternoon Circle. In 2003, Mrs. Bonner was awarded the Honorary Life Membership of the Hot Springs Presbyterian Women in recognition of her faithful service to the church.
Mrs. Bonner is survived by her son, William “Bill” Bonner of Churchville; and her brother, Robert Dever of Brewster, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Dever.
Funeral services will be private.

Stanley Matthews Jr.
HOT SPRINGS — Gloria Braxton, Mary Nelson and Delores Beale of Hot Springs, received word of the death of their brother, Stanley Matthews, Jr., 57, of Clinton N.C.
Mr. Matthews died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Kitty Askins Hospice in Goldsboro, N.C.
He was born January 10, 1949, in Baltimore, Md.; the son of the late Stanley Matthews, Sr. and Alease Bruce Mattthews.
Mr. Matthews worked as a busboy at The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs and as a truck drive for MS Carriers for 30 years.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Stanley Matthews, III; a brother, Alvin Matthews; sisters, Gloria Braxton, Mary Nelson, Delores Beale, Bessie Raines, Alease Matthews and Kathryn Boxley; a special friend, Danielle Herring and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a nephew, Dwayne K. Braxton.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Andrews Funeral Chapel, Clinton, North Carolina.
Buddy Persinger
CLIFTON FORGE — Numan Edward "Buddy" Persinger, 79, of 4503 Longdale Furnace Rd., Clifton Forge, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the home of his brother, 608 Ridgeway St., Clifton Forge.
Buddy was born May 24, 1926 in Ronceverte, W.Va., a son of the late Marion Harve Persinger and Nellie Soonseta Carnefix Persinger.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Rev. Glenn Clements officiating. Interment will take place at noon in Riverview cemetery, Ronceverte, W.Va.
The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kenneth Wright
ROANOKE — Kenneth (Albert) Wright of Alleghany County died Friday March 17, 2006.
He was born October 29, 1949.
He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth W. Wright; grandparents, Claude and Bessie Wright, Robert and Myrtle Tucker; brothers, Daniel L. Wright, Michael E. Wright and half-brother, C. M. Hipes.
Surviving are his wife, Anna G. Wright; son, Kenneth A. Wright II; daughters, Victoria A. Wright, Jennifer W. Wilcox and Windy W. Crowder; grandson, "Willie" Samuel Mason Wilcox; mother, Thelma Tucker Wright; brothers, Wallace Wright, Timothy Wright, half-brother Kenneth W. Wright II; sisters, Gail Kellison, Judy Peters, half-sisters Kathi Wright and Kristi Wright; stepbrother, Marc Norris; stepsister, Debbie Marshall; also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
A memorial funeral service will be conducted at Oakey's East Chapel 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Shirley Hiser
Mrs. Shirley Rosalee Payne Hiser, age 50, of 345 E. Fudge Street, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at her residence.
She was the wife of Frank Hiser.
Mrs. Hiser was born July 14, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of James H. Payne and Julia Lazor Payne McKinney.
She was a certified nursing assistant and worked as a caregiver.
In addition to her parents, James Payne and Julia Payne McKinney and husband, Frank Hiser, Mrs. Hiser is survived by three sons, John Paul Hiser and Christopher Frank Hiser, both of Covington and Nicholas James Hiser of Fayetteville, N.C.; a daughter, Heather Dawn Hiser of Blacksburg; a granddaughter, Stephanie Leggett of Blacksburg; two brothers, Mike Payne of Florida and Tommy Payne of Indiana; four sisters, Libby Hunter of Crawley, W.Va., Ann Holland of Denton, N.C., Charlotte Holiday of Smoot, W.Va. and Marie Russell of Snowshoe W.Va.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Church of Christ with Ken Goodmiller officiating, assisted by Harold Hiser. Interment will follow in Old Amwell cemetery in Crawley, W.Va.
Pallbearers will be Frank Hiser, John Hiser, Christopher Hiser, Nicholas Hiser, Danny Lawhorn and Andy Kirby.
