Pearl Roberts Carter passed away at Welmont Bristol Regional Hospital on Monday, June 12, 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wright Carter, Sr.; son, Wright Carter, Jr.; and daughter, Janice Rae Carter Cooley.

Rita Lynn Mullins, 47, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Dickenson County, died May 22, 2006 at UVA Medical Center.
She was born in Grundy and grew up in the Breaks.

Leonard Adams, 75, of Ermine, Ky., died Monday (June 19, 2006) entered into rest from the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Services were held Friday, June 23 at the Edwin Holbrook Memorial Church in Ermine with the Rev. Wendell Austin officiating.
Interment followed in the Adams family cemetery in Ermine, Ky.

Louise McAmis Johnston, 86, of Goodview, passed away Wednesday (June 21, 2006) at her home.
Visitation was held Saturday, June 24, at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 1621 Norton Road SW, Wise, followed by funeral services at 6 p.m. with Tommy Joe McAmis and Danny Graybeal officiating.

Nannie Bell Rose, 76, of Clintwood, went home to he with the Lord on Sunday (June 25, 2006).
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, from the Clintwood Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Darrell Milgrim, Tommy McAmis, and T.J. McAmis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rose family cemetery, Caney Ridge.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a song service to follow at 7 p.m.

Thelma Lee Webb, 67, of Neon, Ky. entered into rest on Monday (June 19, 2006) from her residence with her loving family by her side.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 21 at Baker Funeral Home in Pound.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with minister Robert Adams officiating.
Interment followed in the Amburgey family cemetery of Pistol City, Ky.

William McCoy Wilson, 74, of Big Stone Gap, passed away Thursday (June 22, 2006) at his residence.
He had resided in Big Stone Gap since 1969.
He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Big Stone Gap VFW Post #5715.
He retired from VDOT in 1997.

Sarah Eliza Riner Carico, 97, of Coeburn, died Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2007) at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Estes Funeral Home chapel.
Funeral service followed at 7:30 p.m. with David Dobson officiating.
Entombment will be at 1 p.m. Thurday, in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.

Alfred Gale Colley, 70, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was the son of the late Walter Rush Colley and Roma Francis (Powers) Colley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 at Mullins Funeral Home chapel with clergymen Johnny Mullins and Lacy Justus officiating.
Burial will be held in the Mitchell Senter cemetery, Bartlick Road, Haysi.

Breck Noel Cooley, 23, 'ran' to heaven on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007.
He was a 2006 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where he majored in English and received minors in Insurance, French and the Natural Sciences.
Funeral services were held Feb. 11, 2007 at Stubblefield Funeral Home with the Rev. Ross Woody and James McNew officiating.
Interment was held at 1 p.m. Monday at W.L. and Newton Mullins cemetery, Clintwood.

Alta Elswick, 88, a 30-year resident of St. Clair Shores, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Mich.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder Frank Newsome officiating.
Burial will follow at Johnson Memorial Gardens, Pikeville, Ky.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 at the funeral home.

Helen Ruth Fuller, 69, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at her home.
Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Flem and Pearl Hurley Endicott.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at Haysi Funeral Home with elders Roger Coleman and Denny Deel officiating.
Burial followed at the Blankenship cemetery, Route 2, Haysi.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Pheobia May Neal Jones, 85, of Exeter, went home to be with the Lord Thursday (Feb. 1, 2007) at Mt. View Regional Medical Center, Norton, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Walter G. Jones, Sr., son, Willard K. Jones, granddaughter, Melanie Rhenna Jones, and great grandson, William L. Jones, Jr.

Michael Kieth Powell, 45, of Big Stone Gap, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2007) at his home.
He was a native of Wise County; a 1979 graduate of Appalachia High School; a graduate of Mountain Empire Community College; and a 1985 graduate of Clinch Valley College.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap.
There will be no formal funeral service.

Anne Johnston Ison Riggs, of Big Stone Gap, began celebrating her Eternal Life on Saturday (Feb. 10, 2007).
Anne was born in Dorchester, daughter of the late Willie 'Bill' and Lydia Ison.
The family received friends on Monday (Feb. 12) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap.
The funeral service followed in the chapel at 8 p.m. with Dr. Kenneth Sprinkle officiating.
Graveside services were Tuesday (Feb., 13) at 11 a.m. in American Legion cemetery.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
