Donnie C. Seamster
Donnie C. Seamster, 42, of Gladys, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jerrie Mays Seamster.
Born July 22, 1962 in Halifax Co., he was the son of the late Willie M. Seamster and the late Maggie Hall Seamster. He was owner of Seamster Bros. General Contractors. He was a loving and loyal husband and father and hardworking.
In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by: a brother, John Thomas "Tommy" Seamster; and by a sister, Sarah Jane Blankenship.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by: three children: Donnie Calvin Seamster, Jr. and wife Rebecca, Bobbie Seamster Burks and husband Jeremy and Gary Thomas Seamster all of Gladys; a brother, Gary M. Seamster and wife Caroline of Concord; five nieces including three special nieces: Missy, Katie and Little Cuz; six nephews including a special nephew Petie; two special buddies: Jamie and Chuck; and a special companion, J.B.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Rev. Ray Triplett.
Family visitation will be Monday from 7 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

Robert L. Layne
Robert L. Layne, 87, of Waterlick Road, Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday November 16, 2004 peacefully at his residence. He was the husband of Dorothy B. Layne for 63 years.
Born October 3, 1917 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Curtis L. Layne and the late
Lucy Coleman Layne, also a sister, Stella Fuqua preceded him in death.
Mr. Layne was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II, serving during the invasion of Normandy; he retired from Allen-Morrison Sign Company with 40 plus years of service, was a member of the American Legion Post 16, and attended Timberlake Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy L. Miller and her husband Gene of Scottsboro, Alabama, and Janice L. Parker of Lynchburg; one brother, Curtis E. Layne and one sister, Virginia Layne both of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, R. Thomas "Tommy" Parker, Dwayne L. Parker and his wife Rita, and Kristy Fairchild and her husband Eric; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Newsome, Graham Fairchild and Emma Fairchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday November 19, 2004 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Johnny Basham and Pastor James H. Alley officiating.
Burial will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park, with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, 7404 Timberlake Road, and at other times at the residence, 2831 Waterlick Road.

Charles Ashley Wilkerson, Sr.
Charles Ashley Wilkerson, Sr., 83, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born October 12, 1922, in Amherst County, he was a son of the late McCoy Wilkerson and Mary Stinette Wilkerson. He was a United States Army and Marine Corps veteran having served in WWII and was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center after 30 years of service.
Survivors include four children, Phillip Wilkerson, Margaret Hernandez, Darrell Wilkerson and wife, Nancy and Mark Wilkerson and wife, Renee, a brother, James Wilkerson, sister, Martha Lee, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service, with full military honors, will be conducted Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Robert E. Lee.

Fletcher Thomas “Pat” Cash, Jr.
Fletcher Thomas “Pat” Cash, Jr., 80, of 104 Eagle Road, Amherst, died Friday, November 26, 2004 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Twice Married, he was the husband of Judy Elaine Cash and the late Joyce Merkey Cash Turman.
Born April 27, 1924 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Fletcher Thomas Cash, Sr. and the late Lilly Maybell Banton Cash. Pat was the retired owner & operator of Cash’s Garage with thirty-years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post 274, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8184, and an avid bowler. Pat was a member of the Monroe Church of God.
In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie Pittman and Frances Coleman; one half-brother, James Franklin Cash; two half-sisters, Dorothy Jean Tomlin and Helen Elaine Mays.
In addition to his wife, Pat is survived by two sons, Phillip T. Cash and his wife, Carolyn of Farmville and Dennis Cash and his wife and a very special daughter-in-law to Pat, Audrey of Madison Heights; four daughters, Faye Kozlowski and her husband, Tom and, Rhonda C. Dedrickson, and her husband, Brian, both of St. Louis, MO, Kacie Keys and her husband, Brian of Lynchburg and Kristie Cash and her boyfriend, Joseph Davis of Amherst; two half-brothers, Thomas Edward Cash of Amherst and Harold Lewis Cash and his wife, Katherine of Rustburg; one half-sister, Mary Elizabeth Pippin of Shipman; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and Pat’s beloved dog, Pippy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Monroe Church of God by Bishop Roy Newcomb. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
Wilmer "Red" Newton Fitzgerald
Wilmer "Red" Newton Fitzgerald, 87, a longtime resident of Lynchburg, went to be with his Lord on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at High Point (NC) Regional Hospital. He was the husband of the late Tessie Brooks Fitzgerald.
Born June 1, 1917 in Nelson County, he was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Newton Fitzgerald; his mother, Loney Fitzgerald Fitzgerald; his step-mother, Hannah Phillips Fitzgerald; and by four brothers: Joseph, Junior, Ralph and James Fitzgerald. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church and had retired from Mead Paper Corp. after over 40 years of employment there.
He is survived by a son, Keith Fitzgerald and his children and grandchildren; three sisters: Maggie Allen, Jean Miller and Frances Quick; three brothers: Eldridge, Elwood and Edward Fitzgerald; longtime friends: Maurice Coffey and H.C. Bowman; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Joyce Brenda Wills Chapman
Joyce Brenda Wills Chapman, 58, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, peacefully at her residence. She was the wife of J.O. Chapman, Sr. Born January 3, 1948, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of Virginia Wills Henson of Hampton and the late Joseph Marion Wills and her step-mother was the late Frances Wills; also two brothers, Warren and Butch Gibson, preceded her in death. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an employee of C.V.T.C. and a member of the First Assembly of God. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two sons, Geoffry Dean Chapman and Kevin Thomas Chapman and his wife Shannon of Lynchburg; three step-children, James O. Chapman, Jr. and Tina Denise Campbell and husband Lester of Lynchburg and Rodney Dwayne Chapman of Madison Heights; two brothers, Wayne Wills of Appomattox and Eddie Gibson of Madison Heights; two sisters, Faye Mays and Juanita Gibson both of Madison Heights; nine grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2006, at Whitten Park Ave. Chapel, by the Rev. Rodney Mason. Burial will follow in Spring Hill cemetery. Ruby Gunter Viar
Ruby Gunter Viar, 89, of Evington, died peacefully Friday October 22, 2004 at her residence. She was the widow of Clarence Edward Viar.
Born May 25, 1915 in Amherst County, she was a daughter of the late George Washington Gunter and the late Pearl Christine Vest Gunter; in addition, a brother, George Gunter and three sisters, Beulah G. Irvan, Eva G. Stinnett, and Gertrude G. Isabell also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Viar was a devoted member of Union Christian Church of Madison Heights.
She is survived by her children, Phillip E. Viar and his wife Judy, Brenda J. Viar, Clarence “Ronnie” Viar and wife Elizabeth all of Evington, and Tony G. Viar and wife Deane of Lynchburg; four sisters, Evelyn A. Viar of Miami, FL., Myrtle W. Viar of Roanoke, Florence E. Jordan of Monroe, and Gladys E. Mason of Madison Heights; also surviving are five grandchildren, Christian, Theodore, Gregory, Brad, and Brian Viar, and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday October 24, 2004, at Union Christian Church, with Pastor Sayford Moon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Robert Lee Edwards, Sr.
Robert Lee Edwards, Sr., 64 of Monroe, passed away Friday, March 25, 2005. He was the husband of Melanie Arrington Edwards.
Born January 19, 1941 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Eldridge and Ruby Tyree Edwards. Mr. Edwards attended the Amazing Grace Ministries and was a retired from Wilson-Powell Lincoln Mercury as an auto body technician.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Robbie L. Edwards, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Monroe, Nancy E. Tyree and fiancé, Randy L. Winston of Madison Heights, Tracey Quay and her children, April, Gavin, and Madysen, of New York and Jacob Edwards of Madison Heights; two brothers, Calvin Edwards of Lynchburg and David Edwards of Monroe; two sisters, Judy E. Wade of Evington and Jeanette Thompson of Winchester; four step children, Mike, Charla, Jenny and Josh, a special granddaughter, Megan Fay Tyree, three grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Amazing Grace Ministries, by Pastor Bill Evans.
The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall and at other times at the residences of Nancy Tyree, 193 Kentmoor Farm Rd. and Melanie Edwards, 395 Tanglewood Dr. in Madison Heights.

Jeffrey Scott Gillespie
Jeffrey Scott Gillespie, 43, of Amherst, died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at his residence. He was the husband of Lucy Overstreet Gillespie.
Jeffrey was born June 12, 1961 in Quantico and was the owner & operator of Delta Painting Co.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and best friend, Gordon Overstreet.
In addition to his wife, Jeffrey is survived by two daughters, Christina Aleese Gillespie of Virginia Beach and April Dawn Gillespie of Lynchburg; two step-daughters, Brandi Tyree and her husband, Jason of Lynchburg and Stacy Shoemaker of Madison Heights; two brothers, Anthony Ray Gillespie of Camp LeJeune, NC and Steven Thomas Gillespie of Bangor, Maine; one sister, Catherine D. Epperly of Madison Heights; two half-brothers, John David Gillespie and Albert Wayne Gillespie, both of Roanoke and two nieces, Jennifer Ramirez and Chivon Overstreet.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2004 at Whitten Monelison Chapel by Pastor J. Mike Dodson.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Velma Young Stinson
Velma Young Stinson, 75, of Madison Heights, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Ralph K. Stinson.
Born April 12, 1929 in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Moody A. and Amy Bryant Young. Mrs. Stinson was retired from General Electric and a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James H. Young.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stinson is survived by two sons, Kenneth C. Stinson of Myrtle Beach, SC and David B. Stinson and his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Wanda S. Brothers and her husband, Richard; two sisters, Helen Routon and June Ricketts, all of Madison Heights; six grandchildren, Chris, Mark, Jason, Matthew, Anthony, and Amy and seven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Caleb, Morgan, Emily, Micah, Ryan, and Eden.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2005 at Whitten Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Monelison Chapel by the Rev. Charles L. Stinson and Dr. Timothy Madison. Interment will follow in Amherst cemetery.

Margie Robinson Brown
Margie Robinson Brown, 63, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 following a short illness. She was the widow of Ollie York Brown. Margie was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Surviving are two brothers, James and Paul Blankenship and a sister, Betty Crigger. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Park Ave. Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, by Pastor James C. Coleman, at Spring Hill cemetery.
David Edward “Ed” Lindsay
David Edward “Ed” Lindsay, 81, of Madison Heights died Wednesday, December 01, 2004 at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Lucado Lindsay.
Born in Amherst, County, January 12, 1923, he was a son of the late James Thomas and Della Brown Lindsay. Ed was a retired supervisor with Montague Betts, a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II. He was a member and past post commander of the American Legion Post 274 and also served as past vice state commander of the Virginia State American Legion. He was a member and past President of the Madison Heights Ruritan Club and a member and former Deacon of Madison Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sharon Lindsay Cash of Lynchburg and William “Sambo” Brooks; two granddaughters, Stefanie T. Yancey and her husband Barry and Lindsay Michelle Johnson and her husband Kelvin and two great-grandchildren, Brianna Michelle Yancey and River Thomas Yancey all of Madison Heights and a devoted niece, Patricia Gore of Stephens City.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday from Whitten Monelison Chapel with Dr. Timothy Madison and the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Meade Memorial cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
