Emma Gibson Maddox
Emma Gibson Maddox, 92, of Monroe, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, April 18, 2003 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Sam Maddox.
Born November 11, 1910 in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Charles and Ora Tooley Gibson and step-daughter of the late Mary DeMasters Gibson.
Mrs. Maddox was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Clayton Maddox and five sisters, Maggie Wheeler, Mildred Siebold, Kathleen Staton, Virginia Wheeler, and Louise Gibson and two brothers, Woodrow Gibson and Charles E. Gibson.
Mrs. Maddox is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Maddox and his wife, Joyce of Amherst and E. Wayne Maddox of Forest; five daughters, Celmer Morgan of Danville, Eleanor Dowdy of Monroe, Vernie Angus and her husband, Davis of Waynesboro, Shirley Foster of Monroe, and Barbara Horn and her husband, John of Roanoke; one sister, Harriet Tanner of Big Island; daughter-in-law, Esther Maddox of Amherst; twenty- one grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Whitten Monelison Chapel by Dr. Timothy Madison. Interment will follow in Amherst cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at 395 Rothwood Road, Monroe.

Michelle Renee Davis Adams
In the midst of Wednesday morning, June 23, 2004, the Lord Jesus Christ called Michelle home to heaven.
Michelle was born January 11, 1969 to Edward S. and Marsha M. Davis in Virginia Baptist Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, James Chris Adams, 308 Greenwood Drive, Madison Heights and his daughters, Chase Denson and Brandy Adams; her father Edward S. “Joe” Davis and his girlfriend Carolyn Wood, 2433 Cobb St.; her mother, Marsha M “Rita” King and her husband Linwood of 330 Deer Path, Rustburg; two sisters, Angela D. Fuller and her husband Timmy of Rustburg and Denise Davis of Lynchburg; one half sister, Christy Davis of Madison Heights; one half brother, Paul Ford and his wife Ginger of Monroe; her maternal grandparents Loretta and Danny May of Newport News and Helen Morris of Concord; a special nephew and niece, Jonathan and Amber Davis of Rustburg a nephew Des Hill and other nephews and nieces.
Additionally, she is survived by numerous aunts and uncles who cared for her deeply, especially John and Janis Hedrick of Lynchburg.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Leonard and Rena Davis and Lonnie S. Morris and Emma G. Morris, Bertha Boguess and Harold Fitzgerald, her uncle Harold S. Morris and two aunts Betty Mays and Eleanor Davis.
Michelle was a member of the American Legion Post 16 and Woodman of the World. She was also a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. Her pastor Carlton Duck of whom she loved and cherished will be her special minister of hope, life and love with special prayers and memories of all.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday from Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Following the service the family will receive friends at the residence, 308 Greenwood Dr., Madison Heights.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John MacNeill and staff for there many hours of services and nurses and staff at Virginia Baptist Hospital for their love and care given to Michelle over the past two years and ten months. Michelle fought a long hard battle for her life every day and every breath she took.

Holmesy H. "Homer" or "Mack" Ferguson
Holmesy H. "Homer" or "Mack" Ferguson, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday December 31, 2004 at the Carrington of Lynchburg. He was the husband of the late Ruby Smith Ferguson.
Born May 30, 1921 in Appomattox County, he was a son of the late Wade Hampton Ferguson and the late Tressie Martin Ferguson; also three brothers, Berkley, Lloyd, and Haywood Ferguson and a sister, Dorothy Garrett preceded him in death
Mr. Ferguson was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W.II. He retired from Glamorgan Pipe and Foundry Co. (currently Griffin Pipe) as General Forman after 37 years service, was a life member and past chairman of the Piedmont Chapter of the American Foundry Society, a faithful member of Fairview Christian Church and the Men's Bible Class for 58 years, and a long time member of the Elks Lodge # 321.
He is survived two devoted children, Iris M. Wheeler of Lynchburg; and Jimmie H. Metts and his wife Doris of Forest; four grandchildren, Gregory Wheeler and his wife Irene of Forest, Michael Wheeler and his wife Vanessa of Lynchburg, Stephen Metts of Forest and Robin Smith and her husband Chris of Blue Ridge; six great-grandchildren; a devoted brother, Allen Tucker Ferguson and his wife Ruby Booth Ferguson of Appomattox; and a sister-in-law, Marvis W. Ferguson of Lynchburg.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 4, 2005 in Fort Hill Memorial Park, with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, and at other times at the residence of her son Jimmie H. Metts, 103 Tremont Court, Forest, VA

Tony Dale Martin
Tony Dale Martin, 41, of Concord, died Monday, March 28, 2005 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born December 22, 1963 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Hazel White Martin Childrey of Madison Heights and the late Giving Stanley Martin.
In addition to his mother, Tony is survived by his step-father, Roy Childrey of Madison Heights; a son, Brian Dale Hudson and his wife, Samantha; a granddaughter, Chloe, all of Concord; a step-sister, Theresa Wright and her husband, David of Evington; three sisters, Connie Woodroof and her husband, Robert and Mary Newton and her husband, Steve, all of Madison Heights and Shelby Martin of Concord; his girlfriend of many years, Sharon Bryant, also of Concord and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Whitten Monelison Chapel by the Rev. Jacob Uthup. Interment will follow in Meade cemetery, Madison Heights.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his mother, 109 Sixth Street, Madison Heights.

Ralph Jerry Parker
Ralph Jerry Parker, 71, of Spout Spring, passed away, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 at his residence.
Born Oct. 15, 1934 in Yanceyville, NC, he was the son of the late James Burlie Parker, Sr. and the late Sally Mae Dove Parker. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and has served with the National Guard. Ralph was well known as owner and operator of the Timberlake Shell Station for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Felts Parker in 1979; by his second wife, Patricia Hall Williams Parker in 2002, and by a brother, Reather J. Parker.
He is survived by one son, Ralph Jerry Parker, Jr., and wife Deana of Richmond; three daughters: Connie Parker Byers and husband Keith, Pamela Parker Hoade and husband John and Tanya Parker Gibson and husband Todd all of Richmond; eleven grandchildren: Joanna, Will and Ellen Parker, Allie and Haley Byers, Jack and Emily Hoade and Scott, Logan Anne, Patrice and Lilly Gibson all of Richmond; two sisters: Mildred P. Willis of Summerville, SC and Hazel P. Sheets of Garner, NC; three brothers: Rev. W. Harold Parker and wife Vivian of Pinnacle, NC, Rev. J. B. Parker, Jr. and wife Barbara of Statesville, NC and Herman R. Parker and wife Jean of Danville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tues., Feb. 21, 2006 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Rev. David Heerspink and the Rev. Charlie Harbin. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Family visitation will be today, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert William Gerbracht
Robert William Gerbracht, 76, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at his residence. For 54 years, he was the husband of Fern "Joan" Bockelkamp Gerbracht of Lynchburg.
Born March 26, 1926 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Karl Herman Gerbracht and the late Katherine Sietz Gerbracht. Mr. Gerbracht was a graduate of Buffalo State College with a B.S. in Industrial Arts Education. He served his country during WWII with the US Navy in the Asiatic theater, and was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical & Reform Church in Buffalo, NY. He retired, after 38 years, from the Buffalo News as an advertising executive. He and his wife had moved to Lynchburg in November 2001.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gerbracht is survived by: a son; G. Robert Gerbracht and a daughter; Lori Gerbracht both of Lynchburg, three granddaughters; Lauren Shackleford, Lindsay Gerbracht and Lynnae Gerbracht all of Lynchburg, two great granddaughters; Carlie Shackleford and Morgan Shackleford and two brothers; Carlton J. Gerbracht of Jacksonville, Fla. and Gerald G. Gerbracht of Hamburg, NY.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Reverend David Heerspink. Private interment will be in Presbyterian cemetery, Lynchburg.
Family visitation will be from 11 – 12 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Douglas Edward Bryant
Douglas Edward Bryant, 81, of Evington, died Monday September 22, 2003 following a short illness. He was the husband of Nellie Cunningham Bryant.
Born March 15, 1922, in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Loyd Raymond Bryant and Lutishia Wright Bryant, and was preceded in death by a step-son, Jimmy Coates.
Mr. Bryant was a Sergeant with the U.S. Army during W.W.II, serving as a tank commander with the 24th Tank Battalion in Europe and Africa; he was a member of the American Legion Post 16, Greenview Church of God, and retired from H.K. Porter, Co. after 30 years of service.
In addition to his wife Nellie, he is survived by his children, Douglas E. Bryant, Jr., Sue B. Roakes and her husband Doug, and Michael W. Bryant and his wife Pamela all of Lynchburg;
two step-sons, Melvin Coates of Lake Gaston, NC, Pete Coates of Goode, nine grand- children, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2003 at Fort Hill Memorial Park, by Pastor Tammy Clark, with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. today (Wed) at Whitten Timber- lake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, and at other times at the residence.
Marsha Roberts Corwin
Marsha Roberts Corwin, 64, of Lynchburg, died Thursday January 15, 2004 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of James D. Corwin.
Born in Ashley Ohio, September 23, 1939, she was a daughter of Maxine Smith Roberts of Columbus, OH and the late Paul T. Roberts.
Mrs. Corwin formerly worked for Hills Dept. Store and was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, Kevin Corwin and Angelia of Rocky Mount, Aletha Ellis and Roy of Lynchburg, Rhonda Kane and Rodney of Appomattox, Mellany Williams and Kurt of Woodbridge, and Stanton Corwin of Lynchburg; a sister, Brenda Lee and Robert of Galena, OH; a brother, Michael Roberts of Columbus, OH, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday January 17, 2004, at
Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, by Pastor Daniel Dockery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, following services at the chapel, and at other times at the residence.
Shirley Davis Fears
Shirley Davis Fears, 61, of Rustburg, passed away after a courageous battle with liver cancer for the past year, Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Earl Swanson Fears.
She was born August 20, 1942 in Amherst County, the daughter of the late Leonard Woodrow Davis and the late Rena Martin Davis. Mrs. Fears was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and had been employed at Morrison's Cafeteria for 19 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Lou Mays and Eleanor Mae Davis.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Charles B. Scott and wife Scarlett of Madison Heights and Robert L. Scott and wife Kim of Lynchburg; a daughter, Marti S. Dudley and fiancé Tim of Rustburg; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, James L. Davis and wife Ann of Piney River, Edward "Joe" Davis and fiancé Carolyn of Lynchburg and Raymond G. Davis and wife Hope of Madison Heights; three sisters, Doris D. Thacker and husband Jimmy of Madison Heights, Patsy D. Huffman of Lynchburg and Mary Frances Davis and fiancé Carrol of Phenix; and a special niece, Jennifer Ann Fagen of Wilmington, NC.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Virginia Baptist Hospital Monday 5th Floor for the wonderful care given to Shirley and especially her caregivers Nina and Ashley.

Suksoon Elizabeth Kim
Suksoon Elizabeth Kim, of Lynchburg, died Saturday March 1, 2003, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
She was the wife of the Rev. C. Daniel Kim, senior pastor of the Korean Baptist Church of Lynchburg.
Mrs. Kim was born October 16, 1923 in the Northern province of Peace, North Korea; she was a member of the Korean Baptist Church of Lynchburg, an affiliate of Thomas Road Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: daughter, Won-ja Kim of North Korea, son, John S. Kim and daughter-in-law Jennie E. Kim of Plymouth, Minn., daughter, S. Esther Kim and son-in-law Peter Wook Hyun Kim of Edina, Minn., son, S. Paul Kim and daughter-in-law Chung-wha Kim of Wausau, Wis.; grandchildren, Yong-duk, Young-sook, young-sil, all of North Korea, David, Sarah, Marian, Andrew, Stephen, Matthew, and Janet, of the states; three great-grandchildren in North Korea, four brothers and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2003 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, by Dr. Jerry Falwell. Burial will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.

Russell M. White
Russell M. White, 86, of Madison Heights, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2004. Born June 11, 1917, he was a son of the late Horation M. and Emma England Hogan White. He was a WW II veteran having served in the Navy, as well as a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Elizabeth Boaze White, and two brothers, G.P. "Cotton" White and Leon "Leachy" White.
Survivors include two sons, William B. White and wife Debra, and Charles Henry White and wife Patty, four daughters, Katherine W. Simmers and husband Leon, Hazel W. Childrey and husband Roy, Christine W. Coley and husband Ernest, and Hope W. Clark and husband Danny, twenty one grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
