Elgin Gilliam Turns
Elgin Gilliam Turns, 88, of Rustburg, died Thursday February 21, 2002 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the widow of David Raynard Turns.
Born March 6, 1913 in Prince Edward County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Arthur Bennett Gilliam and Nannie Wilkerson Gilliam, and was preceded in death by four sisters: Ethel Morris,
Bessie Baptist, Rhena Sheerin, and Ellen Stewart and two brothers: Bennett Gilliam and Walker Gilliam.
Mrs. Turns was a devoted member of Rustburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son: Robert R. "Bob" Turns and his wife Norma, her grandson: Jeff Turns and her beloved great-grandson: Keilan Turns all of Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 24, 2002 at Rustburg Baptist Church, by the Rev. Rick Cole. Burial will follow in Cumbie Memorial cemetery, Rustburg.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. today (Sat) at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, and at other times at her sons home, 1810 Laxton Road.
Charlie Rupert Lee
Charlie Rupert Lee, 92, of 398 Minton Farm Road, Madison Heights, VA, died Friday, May 31, 2002 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Altha Odelle Tweedy.
Born August 10, 1909 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Mallie Roberts Lee. He was a retired farmer and a lifelong member of Oakdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. A very quiet and gentle man, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and collecting Indian relics that he found on his farm.
He is survived by four daughters and their husbands. Fay and Marvin May of Lynchburg, Joyce and Ted Ramsey of Madison Heights, Becky and Mike Cox of Madison Heights, and Nancy and Roger Tomlin of Woodbridge, two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Rachel Lee of Madison Heights and Roger and Michelle Lee of Madison Heights; 16 grandchildren, David May, Kevin May, Keith Ramsey, Kyle Ramsey, Trevor Ramsey, Annette Davis, Carol Loveday, Mark Lee, Matthew Cox, Philip Cox, Rebekah Cox, Brandon Cox, Kristen Cox, Jennifer Malone, Daniel Tomlin, Sara Tomlin, and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Lee, and a sister Hope Lang, both of Madison Heights and was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard Lee, Elbert Lee, Lewis Lee, and Aubrey Lee.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 pm tonight at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights.
Services will be held Monday, June 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Oakdale Baptist Church in Madison Heights by the Rev. Terry Wornstaff and the Rev. Robert E. Lee, Jr. Burial will follow in Meade cemetery in Madison Heights.
The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider either the Oakdale Baptist Church or the Monelison Rescue Squad.
Willie Paul Miller
Willie Paul Miller, 83, formerly of Page Street, Lynchburg, died Saturday March 29, 2003 at Medical Care Center.Hie first wife was the late Lee Ola L. Miller and his second wife was the late Esther Farris Miller.
Born June 28, 1919 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Samuel Richard Miller and Ida Payne Miller.
Mr. Miller was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II, retired from Griffen Pipe Company, and was a member of Euclid Christian Church.
He is survived by a son, Darrell W. Miller and wife, Diane of Weymouth, MA.; three grandchildren, Darrell Matthew Miller, Cynthia Ann Miller and Robert John Miller, and their mother, Kathleen Morressey Fitzpatrick; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Miller; a brother- in law, Gilbert Mays Ferris and wife, Joanne; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Ferris Caldwell and husband, Stephen and Pauline Farris Daniel and husband, Earl; two cousins, Glenna Miller Cundiff and Birdie Trent, and special friends, William and Ione Thomas.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday March 31, 2003 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Ed. Parrish, III. Burial will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 7404 Timberlake Road.

Cornelius Eugene ‘Corn’ Rosenberger
Cornelius Eugene ‘Corn’ Rosenberger, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, July 21, 2003 at Hospice of the Hills. He was the husband of the late Mary Margaret Cross Rosenberger who passed away March 19, 1995.
Born July 17, 1921 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Henry Rosenberger and the late Mary Margaret Gorman Rosenberger. Corn was a US Army veteran having served in WWII and Korea, he was a communicant of Holy Cross Catholic Church, past President and long time member of the Exchange Club of Lynchburg and had retired from Lynchburg Wholesale Florist where he was employed for 20 years. He was a loyal member of the Lynchburg General Hospital Auxiliary for over 6520 hours, having served on the Board of Directors 1992 – 1997 and as President from 1994 – 1995.
Corn is survived by his daughter, Mary Margaret “Margie” King and her husband Bruce, a granddaughter, Catherine Hunter Raiford, a step-granddaughter, Ashley Marie King all of Altavista; a sister, Lillian Rosenberger Leonard of Greensboro, NC, two brothers, Edward S. Rosenberger of Simsbury, CT and Henry Rosenberger of Lynchburg, his faithful companion Maxwell and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Holy Cross Catholic Church by Reverend John Kloepfer. Interment, with full military honors, will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the funeral, in Holy Cross cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 p.m., Wednesday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at Corn’s home at 3824 Nicholas Street, Lynchburg.

Fay Etta H. Richardson
Fay Etta H. Richardson, 85, of 2224 King St., Lynchburg, died June 10, 2004, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Samuel Wylie Richardson.
Born August 12, 1918, in Appomattox County, Mrs. Richardson was the daughter of the late J. Mott and Mattie Clark Harvey. She graduated from Appomattox High School in 1936. She retired from St. John's Nursing Home where she served as Activities Director.
Mrs. Richardson and her husband were faithful members of Thomas Road Baptist Church and the Stedfast Bible Class where Mr. Richardson served as teacher until his death. She served as a supervisor/teacher in the first grade for 35 years. At St. John's Nursing Home, they provided a Sunday morning worship service which Mrs. Richardson continued after her husband's death.
Mrs. Richardson was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Robert Wayne Richardson and his wife, Patricia Richardson, of Lynchburg, and Samuel Rudy Richardson and his wife, Irene Richardson, of Gordonsville; five grandchildren, Robert Wylie (Bobby) Richardson of OH, Samuel Wayne Richardson and his wife, Judy Richardson, Rebecca JoFay R Brooks and her husband, Kenneth Brooks of Lynchburg, Sherry R. Alston of Gordonsville and Michael Richardson and his wife, Mandy, of Orange; seven great grandchildren, Robert Richardson and his wife, Beth Richardson, Katherine Richardson, L.J. Richardson, Corey Brooks, Hannah Richardson, all of Lynchburg, MaKenzie Alston of Gordonsville and Samuel Richardson of Orange; two step-grandchildren, Melissa Thompson of Richmond and Turner Thompson and his wife, Hope Thompson, of Winterville, NC; two step great-grandchildren, Jordan Thompson of Richmond and Amanda Thompson of Winterville, NC; and three great, great grandchildren, Alex, R.J. and Cassia Richardson of Lynchburg.
In addition, Mrs. Richardson is survived by one sister, Thalia H. Mayberry of Lynchburg and two nieces, Judy M Fiske of Richmond and Janet Mayberry-Laughlin of VT. She was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine H. Dudley, her husband, Bill Dudley and daughter, Debbie Dudley Davis, and a brother-in-law, Garland Mayberry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2003 at Whiten Timberlake Chapel by Dr. Jim Moon and Dr. Homer Massey. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery, Appomattox.
The family will receive friends Sunday, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Violet Martin Walker
Violet Martin Walker, 84, of Lynchburg, departed this life on Monday, April 22, 2002 at her home. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Frank Walker, Jr.
Mrs. Walker was born November 4, 1917 in Campbell County. She was the daughter of the late Charlie C. Martin and Susan Dodson Martin. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church for over fifty years.
Mrs. Walker was the devoted mother of five children. She is survived by her three sons; Reginald C. (Sandra) Walker of Snellville, GA, Clinton A. (Linda) Walker of Kings Mountain, NC, and Dennis “Dee” C. Walker of Lynchburg, her two daughters; June W. (Jim) Harris of Enfield, Conn., and Shelby W. Allen of Madison Heights, VA. In addition to her children, she was a loving grandmother to twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday from Whitten Timberlake Chapel and will be officiated by the Reverend Ricky Ewing. Interment will be in Spring Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Brantley Creighton “B.C.” Brewer
Brantley Creighton “B.C.” Brewer, 55, of Evington, went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 19, 2002 at U. V. A. Medical Center, Charlottesville.
Born Henderson, NC in January 18, 1947, he was the son of the late Jack Creighton Brewer and Madie Jones Brewer who survives. He was a member of the Radio Controled Modler’s Club and a former member of the Gold Wing Rider’s Club and the Retreads.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his wife of 11 years; Lettie Gail Brewer of Evington, a sister; Becky Blankinship of Bedford, a cousin and lifelong brotherly friend; Donny Gilliam of Louisburg, NC, three sisters-in-law; Edith Cole of Bedford, Linda Faye McCoy of Radford and Judy Davis of Ft. Pierce, FL, two nephews; Brian Yatsko and Spencer Blankinship both of Bedford and many cousins on the Brewer, Gilliam and Jones sides.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by the Reverend Dwayne Martin. Interment will be in Sandy Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Louisburg, NC.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Annie Hudson Dawson
Annie Hudson Dawson, 92, of Lynchburg, died Friday, January 24, 2003 in the Carrington. She was the wife of the late Thomas Lee Dawson.
Born March 17, 1910 in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Brittie Matheny Hudson. Mrs. Dawson was retired from Craddock & Terry Shoe Corp. and was a member of Sandusky Baptist Church, formerly Franklin Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Dawson joined the church in 1932 and at the time of the church’s Centennial, Mrs. Dawson was its second oldest living member.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Dawson.
She is survived by one daughter, Louise Capraro and her husband, Carl of Chambersburg, PA; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Ralph Jackson. She will then be laid to rest beside her husband in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Kenneth Eugene Campbell
Kenneth Eugene Campbell, 65, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, October 17, 2003 in Pennsylvania from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.
Born July 20, 1938 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Alfred Boyd Campbell and the late Bonnie Mae Owings Campbell Lawhorne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence E. Campbell and Leonard E. Lawhorne.
He is survived by two daughters, Vicky C. Cox and husband Wayne and Rachel C. Wood; four grandchildren, Zachariah Cox, Savannah Cox, Jeremy Campbell and Cassidy Callahan all of Lynchburg; one sister, Geraldine C. Hill and Husband Johnny of Spout Spring; one brother, John W. Campbell and wife Pearline of Lynchburg; a sister-law, Kathleen Campbell of Tenn.; and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2003 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by Rev. Mike Dodson. Interment will follow in Tree of Life cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home and at other times at home of his daughter Vicky, at 116 Peg Lane, Lynchburg.

Cassie Burton Hall
Cassie Burton Hall, 76, of Lynchburg, passed away, Monday, February 2, 2004 at Hospice of the Hills. She was the wife of the late Killis William Hall.
Born in Lynchburg on May 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Thornton George Phillips and the late Annie Crouch Phillips. She was retired from Lynchburg General Hospital and was a member of Eastbrook Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Odessa Phillips and Margaret Tomlinson.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda D. Seamster and husband Walter and Brenda S. Mann and fiancé Michael W. Cash both of Rustburg and Patricia A. Spivey and husband Robert of Chesterfield County; two granddaughters, Laura Michelle Mann of Rustburg and Kristina Leigh Pauley and husband Marshall of Petersburg; two great grandsons, Matthew Blackwell and Jeremy Chambers; and a sister, Evelyn P. Proffitt of Lynchburg.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Spring Hill cemetery by Rev. Charlie Spencer.
Family visitation will be from 7 – 8:30 p.m., today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the home of her daughter Brenda at 206 Restful Lane, Rustburg.

Elvin Doyle Fitzgerald
Elvin Doyle Fitzgerald, 77, of Roanoke, died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at his residence. He was the husband of Marion Armentrout Fitzgerald.
Born February 20, 1927 in Roanoke, he was the son of the late Willie H. and Elsie Mae Parker Fitzgerald. He was retired from the Roanoke County Purchasing Dept. and a U.S. Navy veteran.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by four children, Gary M. Fitzgerald, Larry W. Fitzgerald, Jodi L. Fitzgerald, and Ami L. Gregory.
A memorial service, to be announced, will be held at a later date.
