Mabel Fryberger White
Mabel Fryberger White, 79, of Lynchburg, died Monday May 6, 2002 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the widow of Clifton Rucker" Tippy" White.
Born December 18, 1922 in Lancaster County, PA., she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Mabel Slider Fryberger. Mrs. White had formerly worked for the A.& P. Co. and was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge # 41.
She is survived by two sons: Rev. Edgar W. Donnon, Jr. and Ronald L. Donnon and three sisters: Libby Barry, Mary Ream, and Eva Holden all of PA. and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday May 8, 2002 at Fort Hill Memorial Park, by the Rev. Nolan R. Crowder.
Whitten Timberlake Chapel is serving the family.
Annie Meredith Dooley
Annie Meredith Dooley, 94, wife of the late Harry H. Dooley, passed away Friday, October 31, 2003 in Lynchburg General Hospital after a short illness.
A member of Euclid Christian Church for more than seventy-five years, she was born July 19, 1909 in Louisa County, the eldest daughter of the late Lewis E. Meredith, Jr. and Laura Coffey Meredith.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Neil B. Dooley; a grandson, Thomas Neil Dooley; a sister, Neva M. Ragland and two older brothers, Norman D. Meredith and Victor D. Meredith and a son-in-law, Emmett Adams.
Mrs. Dooley is survived by a son, Earl G. Dooley and his wife, Betty of Smith Mountain Lake; a daughter; Merlyn D. Adams of Green Cove Springs, FL; two brothers, Lewis E. Meredith, III and Wilson W. Meredith; two sisters, Enid M. Doss and Charlotte M. Harlow and a special sister-in-law, Kathleen B. Meredith, all of Lynchburg.
Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Ann Gray Hicks, Dr. Robert Dooley of Richmond, Steven Lee Dooley of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Terry Meg Roach of Lynchburg, Kimberly Cooper, Tammy Kincaid, and Timothy Crafton, all of Jacksonville, FL and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Monday, November 3, 2003 at Euclid Christian Church by Dr. Edward Parrish, III. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

Glen Allen Hanks
Glen Allen Hanks, 57, of Madison Heights, died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 in Avante Nursing Home of Lynchburg. He was the husband of Teresa Jones Hanks.
Born June 28, 1947 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Glen Arlie and Gladys Wilson Hanks. Glen was a retired self-employed paint contractor and attended Berean Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Glen Allen Hanks, Jr.
In addition to his wife, Glen is survived by one son, J.J. Hanks and his wife, Hope of Kingsport, TN; three daughters, Nancy Hall of Rustburg, Terri Hanks and Jennifer Hanks, both of Lynchburg; three brothers, Garland Hanks and his wife, Kathy of Stafford, Gary Hanks and his wife, Vickie and Tommy Hanks and his wife, Shirley, both of Lynchburg; two sisters, Joanne Brown and her husband, Randy of Concord and Connie Fulmer and her husband, Chris of Stafford; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2004 at the Mikels Family cemetery, Rustburg. .
The family will receive friends at 147 Oakland Circle.
B.M. (Mac) Lindsay
B.M. (Mac) Lindsay, 60, died Wednesday morning, December 8, 2004, at his residence in Concord. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Martin.
Born June 7, 1944, in Altavista, he was a son of Henry Bernard Lindsay and the late Margaret Walker Lindsay.
Mr. Lindsay retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation as Assistant District Construction Engineer after thirty-eight years of service. He most recently was employed as Senior Project Manager by AMT Engineering.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Willis Lindsay Johnson.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Lindsay is survived by a son, Allen Marshall Lindsay and wife, Roberta, of Prince George and two brothers, Gene Lindsay and wife, Karen, and Kenneth Lindsay, all of Altavista.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Concord cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Maude Austin Carr
Maude Austin Carr, 83, of Lynchburg, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at Medical Care Center. She was the widow of Albert Lee Carr.
Born in Charlotte County, Va., May 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Austin and Eula Grishaw Austin. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Gus Austin, Frank Austin, George Austin, Henry Austin and Nathan Austin and two sisters, Pearl A. Carr and Lizzie A. Dickerson.
Maude was a retired seamstress from Blue Buckle/Imperial Reading and a member of Fairview Christian Church.
She is survived by one son, Roy Carr and his wife, Denise of Evington; two daughters, Gail A. Bruffy and her husband, Earnest of Rustburg and Shirley Goff and her husband, Frank of Gladys; ten grandchildren, William "Hank" Carr, Justin Lee Carr, Chris Horn, Lisa Banton, Lori Ann Webb, Teresa Osborne, Ronald Simmons, Donald Simmons, Sue Osborne and Frank Goff, Jr.; 12 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 A.M., Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel by the Reverend Jan Weston. Interment will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.

Virginia Clark Richardson
Virginia Clark Richardson, 76, of Rustburg passed away Monday, July 7, 2003 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the widow of Ardie Lester Richardson who passed away February 14, 1988.
Born April 16, 1927 in Marion, VA, she was the daughter of the late George Clark and the late Minnie Goodman Clark. Mrs. Richardson had retired from General Electric after many years of employment and was a member of First Southern Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by: four sisters; Ida Evans, Gray Clark, Clara Cole and Mildred Clark, seven brothers; Garland Clark, Thomas Clark, Charles Clark, Herman Clark, Sidney Clark, Ambers Clark and George Clark, Jr.
She is survived by: two sons; James C. Richardson and wife Patricia of High Point, NC and Richard L. Richardson and wife Deann of Rustburg, a sister; Maude Luhn of Mt. Airy, MD, two granddaughters; Christy Garrett and husband Adam of Greensboro, NC and Molly Richardson of Lynchburg, three grandsons; Christopher Richardson and wife Helen of Jamestown, NC, Jason D. Richardson of Appomattox and Eric Richardson of Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2003 at First Southern Methodist Church by Pastor R. John Robinson. Interment will follow in the Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Robert Donald "Don" Floyd, Sr.
Robert Donald "Don" Floyd, Sr., 97, of 164 Chapel View Drive, Madison Heights, died Saturday, November 01, 2003 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Don was born February 20, 1906 in Monroe, he was the son of the late John H. and Callie Cash Floyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his three children, Mary Elizabeth Dawson Floyd; his second wife, Marie Patteson Floyd, and his third wife of twenty-four years, Ruby Smith Floyd; four brothers and four sisters.
Don is survived by two sons, Robert D. Floyd, Jr. and wife, Sue of Lynchburg and Preston G. Floyd and wife, Peggy of Madison Heights; one daughter, Shelby F. Staples and husband, Charles of Madison Heights. He also leaves six grandchildren, Terry Floyd, Jeff Floyd and wife, Kristie, Donnie Floyd and wife, Lisa, Michael Floyd, Larry Cooper, and Beth Groff and husband, Mike and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Don was an active member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Treasurer for many years. Later, he became a member of the Madison Heights Baptist Church, where he was a member of the M. M. Nichols Sunday School Class.
He retired from the Southern Railroad after thirty-one years of service. He retired from the Lynchburg Y. M. C. A. after twenty years, where he was the building superintendent. During the summer months, he was the Horseback Riding Instructor at Camp Bibee (Rochichi). He retired from the Central Virginia Commission after ten years of service.
Don was a charter member and past president of the Amherst-Monroe Ruritan Club, a member of the Amherst Tournament and Virginia Jousting Association, a member and organizer of the National Jousting Association and served as Treasurer for many years. He helped organize and was a charter member of the National Jousting Hall of Fame.
From 1950 until 1986, he rode competitively in the sport of Ring Tournament Jousting and won many honors in local, state, and national tournaments, including three Virginia State Championships.
He was an active member of the booster Club of Amherst County High School. He and his horse, "Billy" were a familiar sight at many athletic functions, where he appeared as the "Amherst County Lancer". He was an avid fan of the Lynchburg Hillcats and other teams of Lynchburg for more than thirty-five years.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at Madison Heights Baptist Church by Dr. Timothy Madison. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the church and other times at the residence.

Kenneth Roy Mehaffey
Kenneth Roy Mehaffey, 51, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born April 19, 1953 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Roy Dean Mehaffey and the late Daisy Worley Mehaffey. Kenneth was a member of the Lynchburg Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by: a brother, Buddy Mehaffey of Evington; a nephew, Chris Mehaffey of Lynchburg; two aunts, Beth Mehaffey and Hazel Worley both of Lynchburg; and uncle, Rufus Mehaffey of Jacksonville, FL; a sister-in-law Diane Mehaffey of Madison Heights; as well as many close friends at the Lynchburg Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at the Lynchburg Church of Christ by Ray Eure.
The family will receive friends today, from 7 – 8:30 p.m., at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

Joyce Lee Rhodes Hunt
Joyce Lee Rhodes Hunt, 78, of Madison Heights, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 in the Lynchburg Health & Rehab Center.
Born May 21, 1926 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Chapman and Kate Ruth Witt Rhodes. She was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church, a former employee of the City of Lynchburg, a graduate of Madison Heights High School, and attended Mary Washington College.
She is survived by a daughter, Dianne H. Williams and her husband, Clarence; a son, Dennis W. Hunt and his wife, Nancy; four grandchildren, Jerry D. Hunt and wife, Stacie, Tina H. Hogate and husband, David, Edward M. Williams, and William E. Williams and two great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2004 at Whitten Monelison Chapel by the Rev. Dennis Hunt and the Rev. Jim Freeman. Interment will follow in Spring Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Dianne.

Alvin Jubal Witt
Alvin Jubal Witt, 83, of Evington, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at his residence in Lynchburg.
Born January 8, 1923, in Campbell Co., he was a son of the late Sidney Jubal Witt and Lola Bell Swain Witt.
Alvin is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Annie Mae Witt, a son; Gary Witt and wife Linda of Evington, two daughters; Linda W. Adams and husband Kenneth, of Lynchburg, and Arlene W. Gunter and husband Jeff, of Evington, four sisters; Jean Hall and her husband Frank of Evington, Shirley Phillips and her husband Lee of Lynchburg, Phyllis W. Hall of Evington, Isabelle W. Walker of Rustburg, a brother Nathan Witt and his wife Doris of Evington, two brother in-laws; Jack Phillips of Evington, and Denver Dancey of Lynchburg, eight grandchildren; Greg Witt and wife Kim of Lynchburg, Renee` Trent and husband Randy of Forest, Ben Adams and wife Monica of Forest, Chris Witt and his fiancé Susan Sui of Falls Church, Ethan Gunter, Taylor Gunter, Timothy Gunter, and Sidney Gunter, all of Evington, six great grandchildren; Emily and Alexis Trent, Alyssa and Kara Witt, Mina Adams, and Cameron Glasgow.
In addition to his parents Alvin was preceded in death by a brother; Jehu Witt, and three sisters; Flora Witt, Joyce Ann Witt, and Ruth Kellogg.
Alvin was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, a deacon and provided chewing gum for all the children. Alvin was a past President of the Woodmen of the World, and a past President of the Evington Ruitan Club, for which he received the Tom Downing Fellow Award. Alvin was an active and devoted member of Gideon International. For fifty five years he owned and operated Alvin J. Witt plumbing and heating.
