Doris Craig Marrone

Doris Craig Marrone, 57, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2003 in Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born September 23, 1945 in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Craig and the late Mary Caul Craig. Mrs. Marrone was the former owner of the Stadium Inn.

She is survived by: her close friend; Jim Handley of Lynchburg, her daughter; Lisa Lockhart of Lynchburg, her son; Chad Marrone of Lynchburg, four grandchildren, four sisters; Ann Craig and Carolyn Sykes both of Charlottesville, Ruby Bryant of Lynchburg and Estelle Cornick of Live Oak, Fla. and a brother; James Craig of Charlottesville.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.. Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel by the Reverend D. Jack Hamilton. Interment will follow in Rock Gate cemetery, Crozet, VA.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m., for one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Adia Desotell

Adia Desotell, 19, of Madison Heights, passed away November 4, 2003.

She is survived by her parents, Robert S. Desotell and Mary Jane Desotell; one sister, Amber Desotell; her maternal grandmother, Brigitte Goff, all of Madison Heights; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Rita Desotell, of Mentor, Ohio, and many other relatives and friends.

Her grandfather, Jim Blakenship and step grandfather, William Goff, preceded her in death.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2003 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Reverend Robert D. Allen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

James Roy Woodson, Jr.

James Roy Woodson, Jr., 76, of Rustburg, passed away Friday, January 27, 2006 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born February 21, 1929, in Dearborn, Michigan, he was the son of the late James Roy Woodson, Sr. and Lottie Virginia Willoughby Woodson.

Mr. Woodson was retired from B and W Corp. after 10 years of service as a machinist.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia W. Holmnlund and husband, David, of Wheatridge, CO and Martha W. Bell, of Golden, CO; three half sisters, Joyce W. Tyree, of Madison Heights, Signora W. Dalton, of Rustburg and Cassie W. Eagle Stewart, of Lynchburg, and a special cousin and caregiver, Bill Willoughby, three grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Woodson will be inurned in Arlington National cemetery Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m.

Charitable contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Jacob Jack

Jacob Jack, 73, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday May 7, 2002.

He was the husband of Eva Dickmann Jack. Born May 1, 1929 in Filipova, Austria-Hungary, he was a son of the late Franz and Rosina Reder Jack.

Jacob retired from Burlington Industries as Production Manager, after 40 years service, and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife Eva, he is survived by his children: Erwin Jack and his wife, Sherrill and Heidi Jack of Richmond, Frank Jack and his wife, Susan of Bedford, Richard Jack and Eva Jack of Burlingame, CA;brother: Anton Jack of Richmond; sisters: Rosina Magauer of Bad Winsbach, Austria and Eva Jack of Vienna, Austria; four grandchildren: Spencer, Elizabeth, Chelsea, and Adam Jack.

A Liturgy of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 11, 2002 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, by the Rev. Kevin J. O'Brien. Burial will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, and at other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church or Holy Cross School, Lynchburg.

Pearl Lacy Pugh

Pearl Lacy Pugh, 92, formerly of Gretna and Lynchburg, passed away Monday November 3, 2003 at Fairmont Crossing, Amherst. She was the widow of J. Wallace Watson, Gilbert Lowe, and Huey Pugh.

Born September 30, 1911 in Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Grace Padgett Lacy. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Theo and Dillard Lacy and a sister, Helen Davis.

Mrs. Pugh is survived by her daughter, Cordelia W. Plymale of Gretna; a step-son, Jack Lowe of Lynchburg; two brothers, Aubrey Lacy of Lynchburg, and Carlton Lacy of Bedford; three sisters, Mazie Hurt, Lelia Lacy, and Mildred Howell all of Bedford; two grand- children, Amy P. Abbott of Danville and Mark Plymale of Lynchburg; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Abbott of Danville.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday November 6, 2003, at Timber Ridge Baptist Church cemetery, Bedford County, by Pastor James Napier.

Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, is assisting the family with services.

Jean Brooks Arthur

Jean Brooks Arthur, 80, of Amherst, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at her home. She was the wife of Gibbs Louis Arthur, Sr.

Born January 11, 1925 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Randolph and Selma Smith Brooks. Mrs. Arthur was a self-employed Real Estate Broker, a member of Rebekah Lodge #22, and a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Blake Arthur.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Arthur is survived by one son, Gibbs L. Arthur, Jr. and his wife, Jean of Lynchburg and two grandchildren, Brian Christopher Arthur and Brandon Scott Arthur.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Presbyterian cemetery by the Rev. Jack D. Karpenske.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Monelison Chapel.

Robert Gene Leibold

Robert Gene Leibold, 76, of Monroe, passed away Friday, June 17, 2005. He was the husband of Elladene Gaston Leibold.

Born September 9, 1928, in Bowling Green, Ohio, he was the son of the late George Walter Leibold and Sylvia Barker Leibold. Mr. Leibold was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy having served in the Korean Conflict, and a retired engineer from IBM Federal Systems after 20 years of service.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Debra L. Bryant and husband, Bill of Homesdale, PA, and Dena L. Lowman and husband Skip of Madison Heights, and Roberta L. Brown and husband, Richard of Culpepper; brother, Richard Leibold of AZ, two sisters, Janice L. Greene of FL and Barbara L. Washabaugh of DE, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, July 1, 2005 at Arlington National cemetery.

Wyatt Robert "Park" Little

Wyatt Robert "Park" Little, 84, of 963 Church Lane, Evington, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at Daybreak/Heritage Green. He was the husband for 65 years of Nora Unrue Little.

He was born February 26, 1918 in Campbell County, the son of the late Wyatt Mark Little and Mary Dudley Little. He retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service and then raised Black Angus cattle. He attended Evington United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy H. Little.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Donald W. Little and wife, Jane of Mapleton, Utah, Wylene Little Abbott of Forest and Keith B. Little and wife, Andrea of Cary, NC; six grandchildren, Kristen W. Abbott of Lynchburg, Mary L. Seaquist of Gaithersburg, MD, John W. Little of Mapleton, Utah, Dwayne Abbott of Lynchburg, Rachel E. Little and Brian Shampnois of Cary, NC; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Little of Dorchester, SC, Arnold Little of Lynchburg and the Rev. Charles W. Little of Burlington, NC and four sisters, Martha L. Tweedy and Annie L. Hicks of Evington, Lula L. Newman of Altavista and Susie L. Curtis of Trenton, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Evington United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jacob Christian and the Rev. Sam Caldwell. Interment will be in Evington United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Evington United Methodist Church cemetery Fund.

The family would like to thank the staff of Daybreak/Heritage Green for their care of Mr. Little and also the friends and neighbors who also supported us through his illness.

Nydia Simone Ayala

Nydia Simone Ayala, seven-month-old daughter of Erika Ayala and Mike Payne, died Monday July 7, 2003 in Lynchburg.

In addition to her parents, Nydia is survived by two sisters, Oksana Davis and Alexis Ayala; one brother, Jonah Ayala, all of Lynchburg and her grandparents, Sonia Santiago, Tony Ayala and Edwin and Cheryl Gonzalez.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Dennis Moody. Interment will follow in Holy Cross cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 1123 Tyree Street.

John Wesley Baldock

John Wesley Baldock, 83, of 503 Country Road, Lynchburg, beloved husband and father, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Margaret Monroe Baldock.

Born August 22, 1920 in Campbell County, he was the son of the late James Joseph Baldock, Sr. and Julia Mays Baldock. He was aU.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Franklin. He was retired from the Virginia Division of Forestry with over thirty years of service. He was a member of Indian Hill United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Joseph Baldock, Jr., David Nicholas Baldock, and Gilbert Burr Baldock.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Baldock is also survived by one brother, Julian Mays Baldock and his wife, Wanda; three daughters, Barbara B. Alston and her husband, Robert, Margaret B. Armistead and her husband, Calvin, and Julia B. Timberlake and her husband, Tim; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at Indian Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ron Litten. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Rescue Squad or the Indian Hill U.M. Church Building Fund.

Shirley Cyrus Cash

Shirley Cyrus Cash, 67, of 179B Churchview Dr., Madison Heights, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at her home. She was the wife of the late Hebie Napolean Cash.

Born April 7, 1937 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Rena Staton Cyrus. Shirley was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and a member of Bible Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Cyrus and Carlton Cyrus.

Shirley is survived by one son, Jimmy May and his wife, Lisa of Lynchburg; two daughters, Debbie Viar of Madison Heights and Shelby Franklin and her husband, T.C. of Concord; three brothers, Albert Cyurs and his wife, Betty, Rudolph Cyrus, and Clifton Cyrus and his wife, Loraine, all of Madison Heights; four sisters, Fannie Wade and Joyce Wall and her husband, Wallace, both of Lynchburg, Mildred Shoemaker of Amherst and Phyllis Lischer and her husband, Manfred of Madison Heights.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Bronson Wood, Wayne Dalton, Bradley Viar, Dylan May, and Hunter Franklin and two special “children” Breannon Davis and Cameron Anthony.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2004 by the Rev. Mark Grooms, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow in Amherst cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Alton Otis Krantz

Alton Otis Krantz, 75, of Appomattox, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Hefner Krantz.

Born September 3, 1930, in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Otey Davis Krantz and Lola Mae Riley Krantz.

Mr. Krantz was A United States Army Korean War veteran and was a member of the Prisoners of Foreign Wars association. He was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry as a machinist.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, James Alton Krantz and Robert Lee Krantz; a brother, Homer Jackson Krantz and three sisters, Elizamae Stump, Ethel Krantz and Thelma Donald.

Survivors include two sons, Alton Krantz and wife, Paula, of Catawba, NC and Eddie Krantz, of Lynchburg; two daughters, Susan Nuckols and her husband, Richard, of Amherst County and Sandra Olivera, of Madison Heights; four sisters, Margaret Howard, of Lynchburg, Frances Turner and husband, Lewis, of San Diego, CA, Maybellene Fong, of Alexandra and Carol King and husband, Junior, of Rustburg, 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service with full military honors by American Legion Post 16 will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Jean Powell, 347 Dixie Airport Rd., in Madison Heights.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Rolling Thunder, Inc., Chapter 4 VA, P.O. Box 11136 Lynchburg, VA 24506, attn: Chris Sugden.
