Beverly Earl Reynolds, 88, of Cedar Bluff, died July 13, 2004 in a Bristol, TN, hospital.
Born in Russell County, he was a son of the late William and Eva Ball Reynolds.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Reynolds; two sisters, Edna Brewer and Effie Gross; and two brothers, Reece Reynolds and Clinton Reynolds.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Glen Hubbard of Swords Creek; son and daughter-in-law, Earl Henry and Ann Reynolds of Belfast; sisters, Mary Reynolds of Cedar Bluff, Bonnie Sargent and husband, Herman, of Doran; grandchildren, Glen B. Hubbard and wife, Margaret, of Abingdon, Wanda Gent and husband, Robert, of Honaker, Phyllis Dye and husband, Steve, of Swords Creek, Earl Reynolds II and wife, Amanda, of Lebanon, Anthony Reynolds of Belfast; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted July 17 at 11 a.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel at Honaker with Rev. Roger Lester and Rev. Jo Russ officiating.
Interment followed in the Reynolds cemetery on Kent's Ridge.
Frank A. Reynolds
Frank A. Reynolds, 73, of the Kent's Ridge section of Honaker, died July 16, 2004 in a Richlands hospital.
Born in Russell County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Janie Marshall Reynolds.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with E. Dillon & Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Reynolds.
Survivors: wife of 48 years, Ruth Reynolds; sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Debra Reynolds and Barry and Treasia Reynolds, all of Kent's Ridge, Jerry and Lois Reynolds of Wysor Valley; sister, Paulette Ramsey of Kent's Ridge; brother, MacArthur Reynolds of Kent's Ridge; grandchildren, Howard Frank Reynolds and wife, Danyelle, and Sally Sue Walker and husband, Dale; great-grandchildren, Raven Walker and Dale Lee Walker III; special friends, James Taylor, Patricia Taylor and Brandon Taylor; and a host of family and friends.
The funeral was conducted July 19 at 11 a.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel at Honaker with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson, Rev. Chester Dye and Rev. Clyde Rose officiating.
Interment followed in the Reynolds cemetery on Kent's Ridge.
Marilyn Richardson
Marilyn Webb Richardson, 49, of Richlands, died July 14, 2004 in a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Flint, MI, she was the daughter of Ralph Webb of Jewell Ridge and Bernadene Bailey Webb of Richlands.
She had made her home in the Richlands and Jewell Ridge areas most of her life and was a Richlands High School Class of 1973 graduate. She was a member of the Keen Mt. Free Pentecostal Church and a faithful volunteer for the Keen Mt. Free Pentecostal Christian Academy for 20 years.
Survivors: husband, Kenny Richardson; daughters, Terra Elaine Richardson and Myra Kena Richardson, both of the home; son, Tyler Kent Richardson of the home; and brothers, Rev. Randy Webb of Richlands, Rev. Kenneth Webb of Orangeburg, SC, and Kevin Webb of Waco, TX.
The funeral was conducted July 17 at 1 p.m. at the Richlands Tabernacle Church in Richlands with Rev. John Gabbard and Rev. Mike Roberts officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Noah A. Short Sr.
Noah Andrew Short, Sr., 78, of Pounding Mill, died July 15, 2004 in a Tazewell hospital following a long illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Terry William and Martha Jane Davis Short.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Raven Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Frances Asbury Short and Hattie Irene Keen Short; one son, Noah Andrew Short, Jr.; five brothers, Luther Short, Jim Short, Walter Short, Roy Short and John Short; five sisters, Rosa Short, Ethel Short, Edgar Smith, Nancy Hess and Bertha Smith; and one son-in-law, Ronnie Lee Sneed.

Carlos "Spud" Turner
Carlos Henry "Spud" Turner, 69, of the Cracker's Neck section of Cleveland, died July 17, 2004 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born July 27, 1934 in Russell County, he was a son of the late George and Lois Combs Turner.
He had spent most of his life in the area and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Island Creek Coal Company and a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Maxfield.

Opal S. White
Opal Sayers White, 83, of Lynchburg, formerly of Richlands, died July 13, 2004 at Lynchburg.
Born July 1, 1921 in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Eva Blankenship Sayers.
She was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church at Jewell Ridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Edward White, Sr.; one son, Ira Edward White, Jr.; and three brothers, James, Charles and Cecil Sayers.
Survivors: Glenna Tiller and husband, Woody, of Winterhaven, FL, Wilma Dye and Rosemary Womack, both of Lynchburg; brothers, Fred A. Sayers of Richlands, Jessie W. Sayers of Naples, FL, Robert H. Draper L. Woodard
Draper Lillian Woodard, 73, of the Gardner section of Swords Creek, died July 13, 2004 in a Richlands hospital.
Born in Rowe, she was a daughter of the late Lenore Lewis Vanover.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noble Henry "Snowball" Woodard; two sons, Harold Woodard and Ricky Woodard; her grandfather, Jim Lewis; and two grandsons, Timmy Woodard and Daniel Woodard.

George W. Young
George William Young, 67, of Clinton, AR, died July 11, 2004.
Born in Richlands, he was the son of the late Harve and Nanna Day Young.
He was a retired coal miner, mechanic and a loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Stewart Young, and one sister, Edith Jackson.
Survivors: wife, Mary Ruth Holley Young; sons, Steve E. Young and Johanthan H. Young, both of Drasco, AR, Billy Lee Young of Cabot, AR; daughter, Debie Boxter of Florida; five brothers and sisters; four half brothers and sisters; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Luke Young of Wabash, IN, Tom Young of Flint, MI, Floyd Young of Swords Creek; and sisters, Ruby McGraw of Flint, Annie Mosley of Gladespring, Vernie Nichols of Richmond, Mildred Goff of Cedar Bluff, Bessie Arnold of Jacksonville, FL.
Services were held July 14 at 2 p.m. in Roller McNutt Chapel in Clinton.
Interment was at PeeDee cemetery with Ester Bass officiating.
John T. Barnett
John Tommy Barnett, 66, of Tazewell died July 8, 2004 in a Bluefield, WV, hospital following a long illness.
Born in Tazewell County, he was the son of the late Homer James and Alice Marie Bandy Barnett.
He was a retired coal miner and was a member of Grace Christian Church at Athens, WV.
Survivors: wife of 21 years, Merl Short Barnett; daughters, Virginia Stevens of Paducah, KY, Daisy Kestner of Bluewell, WV; sons, Larry Barrett of High Point, NC, Billy Barrett of Tazewell; sister, Maxine Compton and husband, Bill, of Princeton, WV; special cousins, Tommy Bandy of Cedar Bluff, Ulyses (peewee) Bandy of Bandy; grandchildren, Stevie Looney, Daniel Looney, Dean Stevens, Eva Barrett, Billy Barrett, Clifton Johnson, Becky Johnson, Joe Johnson, Geneva McCraw, Cindy McCraw; and special friend, Walter Puckett.
The funeral was conducted July 11 at noon, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Roger Lusk and Rev. Max Linkous officiating.

Thelma R. Bunch
Thelma R. Bunch, 98, of the Maples in Bluefield and formerly of Preston St. in Bluefield, died July 7, 2004 at the Maples.
Born in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late George W. Abshier and Florence Epling Abshier.
She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bluefield where she was active in the Church Circles and former leader. She was also a member of the WMU of the church and the Bluefield Women’s Club. She was a former employee of GTE and also worked at the W.Va. hotel as switch board operator.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Joe Abshier; and one sister-in-law, Gerry Abshier. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: nephews, George Abshier and wife, Jean, of Turtle Creek, PA, David Abshier and wife, Jeannine, of Dublin, OH; niece, Susan Moore and husband, Douglas, of Powell, OH; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friend, Evelyn Doby of Bluefield.
The funeral was conducted July 9 at 2 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, VA, with the Rev. James Milam officiating.
Burial followed in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV.
James Douglas "Bubbles" Dennis
James Douglas "Bubbles" Dennis, 50, of Tazewell, went home to be with Jesus on July 4, 2004 following a short illness.
He was born in Richlands, and was reared in the home of his grandparents, the late John and Helen Dennis.
He attended Tazewell County public schools and Southwest Virginia Community College. He served in the US Army as a Military Policeman and was employed by N & W Railway until an injury left him disabled. He was ordained by God and licensed as a minister preaching and spreading the word as the "Spirit" led him throughout Tazewell, Mercer and McDowell Counties, etc. His life and preaching impacted, touched, and left an impression on many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Dinkus and his brother, Carl Davis, Sr.
Survivors: those left to cherish his memory, mother, Shirley Dennis Mitchell and husband, Wilbert A. Mitchell, Sr., of Tazewell; loving devoted wife of 32 years, Margaret Ann Clements Dennis; daughter, Valerie Rena Dennis of Tazewell; sons, Malcolm Douglas Dennis of Charlotte, NC, Devon DeShaun Dennis of the home; beautiful grandchildren, Shereace LaShaun Dennis, D’Andre Shakur Dennis and Anna Marie Paris; brothers, Wilbert Mitchell, Jr. and wife, Cathy, of Charlotte, NC, Lawrence Mitchell and wife, Patricia, of Roanoke; sisters, Vera Eaves and husband, Jimmy, Brenda Mitchell, Hattie Mitchell and Susie Mitchell, all of Tazewell; special cousins, Ina Mae Ward, Wanda Smith, Patricia Davis Sparks and Flora H.
