Don Reid Robinson
Don Reid Robinson, 59, of the Thompson Valley community of Tazewell, died Oct. 2, 2006 at his home.
Born Mar. 17, 1947 in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of Pauline Teague Robinson of Tazewell and the late Carl Raymond Robinson.
He had a love for animals.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Sonny Robinson.
Additional survivors: his special companion of 21 years, Velva Taylor of the home; daughters, Virginia Robinson of Charlotte, NC, Margaret Robinson of Kagaysh, SC, Christie Robinson of Concord, NC; son, Donnie Robinson and wife, Jackie, of Concord; sister, Thelma Jean Killen and husband, “Smiley,” of Duncan, SC; brothers, Carl Robinson and wife, Pam, of Charlotte, NC, Paul Robinson of Concord; nine grandchildren; very special friends, Darrell and Brenda Coxton; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Dr. Janice Harris officiating.
Burial followed at the Coxton Family cemetery in Thompson Valley near the home.
His request was that memorial contributions be made to the Tazewell County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 394, Tazewell, VA 24651 or to your local chapter of the Humane Society.

Mabel “Susie” Tabor
Mabel R. “Susie” Tabor, 93, of Heritage Hall, Tazewell, formerly of Bluefield, VA, died Sept. 19, 2006 at a Tazewell hospital.
Born in Monroe County, at Willow Bend, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Rosetta Harvey.
He worked in sales early in her life and then later was a caregiver to many elderly people. She was an active member of the Falls Mills Christian Church and she also was a choir member of the church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester E. Tabor; one daughter, LaVarne Eder; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors: son, Ray McDaniel and wife, Frances, of Gratton; sister, Lula Tabor of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, VA with Jason Cole officiating.
Burial followed in the Monte Vista Park cemetery on the Old Bluefield Princeton Road.

Randy Carl Trammell
Randy Carl Trammell, 42, of Doran, died Oct. 8, 2006 at his home in Doran.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Carl and Wilma Hagerman Trammell, both Buchanan County natives.
He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Jefferson, NC. He was a former coal miner and had worked as a pinner man and first responder. He was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith, and had spent most of his life in Buchanan County.
Survivors: wife, Deidre Trammell of Grundy; daughter, Bobbie Trammell of Grundy; son, James Foster of Grundy; sisters, Kimberly Trammell and Amanda Keen, both of Grundy; and grandchildren, Dylan Ty Lester, Brent Trammell and Kylee Trammell.
The funeral will be held Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. at the North Springs Old Regular Baptist Church of Hurley. Preachers will be Josh Junior Justus, Danny Cooper Justus, Billy McCoy, James Stacey, Willis Conrad and other Elders of the Church.
Interment will follow at a family cemetery on Slate Creek.
Visitation will be held at the church Oct. 10 and 11 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Dollie Wagner
Virginia Dollie Patton Wagner, 86, of Bluefield, VA, departed this life Sept. 24, 2006 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 16, 1920 at Bailey, she was the daughter of the late Adolphis and Mary Jane Patton.
She spent her entire life in the Bluefield, VA area. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Circle and the Adult Class. She loved to cook for family outings and loved to travel and fish whenever possible. She was a devoted wife, mother and a friend to all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Taft J. Wagner, two brothers and five sisters and a twin sister who died at birth.
Survivors: sons, Fredric Wagner and wife, Sheila, of Mechanicsville, William Wagner and wife, Joyce, of Troutville, Allen Wagner and wife, Judy, of Christiansburg, Lynn Wagner and wife, Barbara, of Midlothian, Larry Wagner and wife, Lynda, of Bluefield, VA; daughter, Lois Hodges and husband, Stanley, of Bluewell, WV; sister, Pauline Childress of Bluefield, VA; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road with Rev. Ray Amos, Dr. Don Scott and Rev. Steve Aker officiating.
Burial followed in the Grandview Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, VA, was in charge of arrangements.

Tabatha L. Whited
Tabatha Leann Whited, 22, of Cedar Bluff, died Oct. 7, 2006 at her home as the result of a tragic house fire.
Born in Richlands, she was the daughter of Rocky and Leshia Mullins Hagerman of Bandy.
She was a Richlands High School Class of 2003 graduate.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Beth Joy Hagerman; maternal grandfather, Wesley Mullins; and one uncle, Alva Mullins.
Additional survivors: husband, Jason Whited; sisters, Angie Quesenberry and husband, Anthony, of Amonate, Melinda Lawson and husband, Derek, of Tazewell, Kimberly Hagerman of Bandy; mother-in-law, Susan Ball of Pounding Mill; father-in-law, Mark Whited of Cedar Bluff; special nieces, Autumn Quesenberry, Katlin Lawson, and Chelsey Lawson; maternal grandmother, Lillian Johnson of Richlands; paternal grandparents, Emory Hagerman and Emma Carroll, both of Defiance, OH; her two precious dogs, Gizmo and Kilo; and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands with Pastor Herman Day and Pastor Ellis Hagerman officiating.
Interment followed in Tom Sparks cemetery on Bradshaw Mountain near Jolo, WV.

Lee Wright
Lee Wright, 62, of North Tazewell, died Oct. 5, 2006 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Born Nov. 13, 1943 at Marshall, he was a son of the late Garland and Gertrude Fewell Wright.
He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He was co-owner of B & W Auto in North Tazewell.
He was a beloved husband and father, who never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Garland Wright, Jr. and one infant sister.
Survivors: wife of 22 years, Debbie Wright; daughter, Pam Slater of Springville; step-son, Jr. McGuire of North Tazewell; brothers, Franklin Wright, Woodrow Wright, Henry Wright, James Wright and Bill Wright, all of Northern Virginia; sisters, Judy Jones of Charleston, WV, Frances Lillard, Patricia Maslock, and Gertrude Wright, all of Northern Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and his loving pets, Kiki and Blondie.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Wayne Mullins officiating.
Burial followed at Maplewood cemetery in Tazewell.

William R. (Jack) Barrett
William R. (Jack) Barrett, 75, of North Tazewell, died Oct. 28, 2005 at his home.
Born July 26, 1930 in Tazewell County, he was the son of the late William R. (Jack) Barrett and Rose Stevenson Barrett Graham.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, 25th Army Division, and a member of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell. He was a member of the Tazewell Family Worship Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Gail Barrett; stepfather, William G. (Bill) Graham; and one half sister, Shirley Graham Hart.
Survivors: loving wife of 51 years, Earline Crouse Barrett; son, Steve Barrett and wife, Debbie, of North Tazewell; very special grandson, Dustin Robert Barrett of Johnson City, TN; and half brothers, William G. Graham, Jr., Walter A. Graham, Jim Graham, George Graham, and Mike Graham.
The funeral was conducted Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. at Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Hayes and the Rev. Don Waddell officiating.
Burial followed in Grandview Memory Gardens at Bluefield, VA, where military graveside rites were conducted by members of Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell.

Walter “Cleve”
Brown, Sr.
Walter “Cleve” Brown, Sr., 69, of the Tip Top community of North Tazewell, died Oct. 28, 2005 at his home following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born Jan. 1, 1936 in Thompson Valley, he was a son of the late Jim and Bessie (Vestal) Brown.
He attended the Tip Top Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Brown, Joe Brown, and Johnny Brown; and several half brothers and sisters.
Survivors: wife of 32 years, Marie Sue Jones Brown; son, Walter (Wally) Brown of North Tazewell; daughter, Amy (Brown) Pruitt and husband, Gilbert, of the home; granddaughters, Skylar Brown and Katlyn Brown of North Tazewell; brothers, Bill Brown and wife, Nellie, of Thompson Valley, Austin Brown and wife, Peggy, of Tip Top; sisters, Mary Jane Thompson of Cherryville, NC, Mattie Carter and husband, Randy, of Bluefield, VA, Anne Lowe and husband, Robert, of Tazewell, and Molly Bogle of Tip Top Road; sister-in-law, Jean Brown; and mother-in-law, Helen Jones.
The funeral was conducted Oct. 31 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Howard Hutchens and the Rev. Kenny Brown officiating.
Burial followed at Maplewood cemetery in Tazewell.

Genoa Jackson Compton
Genoa Jackson Compton, 87, of Davenport, died Oct. 30, 2005 at the home of her daughter.
Born Jan. 28, 1918 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late M.P. and Priscilla Boyd Jackson.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Tiller Town Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tivis B. Compton, two infants, and two brothers.
Survivors: sons, Estus Compton and wife, Imogene, of Lebanon, Raymond Compton and wife, Victoria, of King George, Ervin Compton, Larry Compton, and Rick Compton and wife, Renee, all of Davenport; daughters, Marie McGuire and husband, Bob, of Bristol, TN, Marcie Kishbaugh and husband, Bob, of Beech Haven, PA, Mary Blankenship and husband, Billy, of Honaker, Linda Sue O’Quinn and husband, Ronnie, of Bristol, TN; sister, Emma Street of Fletchers Ridge; brother, William Jackson of Council; special friends, Shirley and Christine; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. in the Tiller Town Freewill Baptist Church in Council with Rev. Kyle Ratliff and Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating
Interment will follow in the Jackson cemetery on Back Hurricane.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Eddie Darrell Hess
Eddie Darrell Hess, 49, of Honaker, died Oct. 25, 2005 at the home of his mother.
Born Dec. 4, 1955 in Richlands, he was a son of Thelma Hess Sanders of Rowe and the late Graham Sanders.
A lifelong resident of the Buchanan and Russell County areas, he was a disabled coal miner.
Additional survivors: daughters, Myranda Castilon and husband, Kyle, of Nashville, TN, Terri Plunkett and husband, Victor, of Clarksville, TN; sister, Sandy Henderson of Rocky Gap; half-brothers, Rusty Ward of Richlands, Dusty Ward of Honaker; one expected granddaughter, Emily Plunkett; step-grandchildren, Laurann Plunkett, Courtney Plunkett, Katelynn Castilon, and Kristen Castilon; niece, Marisa Henderson; and nephew, Jay Henderson.
The funeral was conducted Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker with Elder Price Viers and Elder Garnell Gilbert officiating.
Interment followed in the Hess cemetery on Fletchers Ridge.
