Danny Ray Blankenship
Danny Ray Blankenship, 48, of Rosedale, died June 22, 2006 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Feb. 7, 1958 in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Robert and Mable Meadows Blankenship.
Survivors: wife, Hazel Taylor Blankenship; son, Rick Mullins of Jewell Ridge; brother, Coy Blankenship of Lebanon; sisters, Wanda Shelton of Cedar Bluff, Wilma Shelton of Claypool Hill, Melissa Shook of Hickory, NC; and granddaughter, Courtney May Cook of Honaker.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. June 25 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Clarence Brown and Rev. Frank Blankenship officiating.
Burial followed in the Meadows Blankenship cemetery at Page.
Henry C. Blankenship
Henry Clyde Blankenship, 78, of Powhatan, died June 23, 2006.
He was a member of Powhatan Masonic Lodge 295 AF & AM.
Survivors: wife of 58 years, Mildred S. Blankenship; sons, Ronnie J. Blankenship and wife, Conway, Gary Wayne Blankenship and wife, Suziann, all of Powhatan; daughter, Donna B. Applebaum and husband, Jack, of Manassas; brother, A. Kyle Blankenship of Tazewell; and grandsons, Jay and Heath Blankenship.
The family received friends June 25 at the Bennett and Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan.
The funeral was conducted June 26 at 2 p.m. at Red Lane Baptist Church, Powhatan.
A graveside service was held June 27 at 2 p.m. at Sunrise Burial Park in Dublin.

Christopher Shane Campbell
Christopher Shane Campbell, 19, of Raven, went to be with his Lord June 23, 2006 in a Bristol hospital with family and friends at his side.
Born in Tazewell County, he was the son of Ralph Campbell, Jr. of Raven and Rita Faye Campbell of North Tazewell.
He was preceded in death by great grandfather, Ora Campbell; great grandfather, Perry Whited; great grandparents, Ernest and Lula Keene; great grandfather, Leonard Lambert; and great grandmother, Cassie Lambert.
Survivors: father, Ralph Campbell, Jr. and step-mother, Rebecca of Raven; mother, Rita Faye Campbell of North Tazewell; sisters, Chasity Ann Martin and husband, Bobby, of Richlands, Lance Cpl. Crystal Dawn Campbell with the U.S. Armed Services stationed in Iraq; step-brother, Josh Rowe of Raven; step-sister, Kristen Slowey of the home; grandparents, JC and Anna Ruth Lambert of North Tazewell, Joann Campbell of Doran, Ralph Campbell of Richlands; great grandmothers, Myrtle Whited of Doran, Hazel Campbell of Richlands; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friend, Philip Ward.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. June 29 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Grady McGlothlin and Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.
Interment will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Mausoleum in Richlands.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. June 27 and 28 at the funeral home.
James M. Harshbarger
James Michael Harshbarger, 50, of Raven, formerly of Moultrie, GA, went to be with the Lord June 20, 2006 following an accident at his home.
He was born in Moultrie and was the son of John Millard Perkins of Louisiana and Susie Jynell Perkins Harrison of Winston Salem, NC.
He was a loving husband and father, who was happiest when he was using his talents in woodworking to create a gift for someone. He was passionate about being a member of the Mountain Men Rendezvouser’s, who reenacted the battles of Pre- 1840. He had devotedly served his country in the U.S. Army and then as a policeman for the Moultrie Police Department in Moultrie. After retiring, he spent a lot of time outdoors caring for his land and his goats. He enjoyed serving the Lord and ministering to others about the love of God.

Hare and husband, Randy, all of Bruce, FL; sons, Michael Jon Harshbarger of Cincinnati, OH, Gabriel J. Harshbarger of Pensacola, FL; sister, Jacqulyn Williams and husband, Danny, of Winston Salem; special friend, Harry Hart of Moultrie; and seven grandchildren, family and many, many friends.
A Celebration of Life service was held June 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Fletcher officiating.
A military service was held at the church by the Casey-Shortt VFW Post # 9640 of Richlands.

Marie Tobelmann Hay
Marie Tobelmann Hay, 95, of Orlando, FL, died June 16, 2006 at the home of her daughter in Orlando.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of the late John and Theressa Grimm Mackey, both Philadelphia natives.
In 1935 Fred and Marie Tobelmann came from Philadelphia to Bearwallow to do missionary work. They spent 48 years ministering in the community, establishing the Bearwallow Bible Church and spending years teaching Bible lessons in the schools throughout Tazewell County. After Fred’s death in 1983 Marie continued in the work until 1993 when she married
James Hay from Lancaster County, PA. James died in 1996 and she returned to Bearwallow to live until 2000. At that time, she moved to Orlando to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Alice Fredricks and her husband, Gary, due to advanced Parkinson’s disease. She resided in Orlando until the time of her death. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: daughter, Alice Fredricks and husband, Gary, of Orlando; sons, Jonathan Tobelmann and wife, Jean, of Fairfax, David Tobelmann and wife, Dorothy, of Bearwallow, Philip Tobelmann and wife, Mary, of Wytheville; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted June 24 at 1 p.m. at the Bearwallow Bible Church near Jewell Ridge with the Rev. Carl Tegler officiating.
Interment followed at Clinch Valley Memorial cemetery in Richlands.

Rocky D. Lane
Rocky D. Lane, 47, of the Thompson Valley Community of Tazewell, formerly of Grundy, died June 22, 2006 in Buchanan County.
Born May 10, 1959 at Grundy, he was a son of the late Estil and Kathleen Mullins Lane.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors: wife, Deborah J. Lane; loving son, Chadrick Lane of Charlottesville; sisters, Diane Dotson and husband, Doug, and Stephanie Stiltner and husband, Johnny, all of Grundy; brothers, Curtis Lane and wife, Patricia, of Tazewell, Jerry Lane of Grundy; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 3 p.m. June 26 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Rev. Charles Poteat and Rev. Margie Poteat officiating.
Burial followed at Clevingers cemetery located at Belchers Fork near Grundy.
Robert “Bob” Richardson
Robert “Bob” Coy Richardson, 67, of the Maple Gap section of Swords Creek, died June 26, 2006 in a Tazewell hospital.
Born Aug. 19, 1938 in Richlands, he was a son of Ida Altizer of Cedar Bluff and the late Robert Coy Reedy.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the United States Army.
Additional survivors: wife, Donna Gail Richardson of the home; his ex-wife, Barbara Carol Richardson of Doran; sons, Robert “Lanny” Richardson of Hickory, NC, Terry Dean Compton and wife, Kim, of Rosedale; grandchildren, Damion Hunter Richardson, Dakota Landon Richardson, Tara Ratliff and Shanna Ratliff; brothers, Robert “Bo” Reedy of Abingdon, Lowell “Red” Reedy of Hickory, Harold Richardson of Cedar Bluff; several nieces and nephews; and many loved ones.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. June 28 in the Honaker Funeral Home, Honaker, with Rev. J.C. Johnson officiating.
Entombment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon.
Carrie Elizabeth Tiller
Carrie Elizabeth Wright Tiller, 83, of Vansant, died June 22, 2006 at her home following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Mahalia Kansas Stiltner Wright.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Regular Baptist Faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Muncie Rell Tiller, 1976; three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors: daughters, Arlene Howard of Culpepper, Loraine Adkins of Dumfries, Mavis and husband, Roger Stacy, and Donna and husband, Tolbert Adkins, all of Vansant, Kay and husband, Jerry Brown, of Bedford, Anita and husband, Chester Donahue, of Moneta, Audrey and husband, Jennings Boyd of Bishop; sons, Dean and wife, Sandy Tiller, of Vansant, Gary Tiller of Lebanon, Alvery Tiller of Abingdon; 33 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted June 25 at 1 p.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Roger Coleman officiating.
Burial followed in the Wright Family cemetery, Lee Town Curve near Grundy.
Services were held by Elders Ezra Davis Jr. and Travis Davis June 24 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Noami Elizabeth Clifton
Noami Elizabeth Clifton, 80, of Clifton Fork, died July 2, 2006.
Born Jan. 30, 1926 in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Allie Osborne Burke.
She lived her whole life in the Clifton Fork Section of Buchanan County. She was a member of the Living Word Outreach Church at Pilgrim Knob. She devoted her whole life to her children and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Clifton; one grandson, Johnny Mac Rogers; four brothers, Albert Burke, Lewis Burke, Lee Burke and Jessee Burke; and four sisters, Susie Terry, Gurtie Boyd, Eula Burke and Trula Burke.
Survivors: daughters, Shirley Sue Hylton and husband, Billy, of Raven, Darline Mabe and husband, Jim, of Bristol, VA, Linda Ann Ward and husband, Jerry, of Swords Creek; daughter-in-law Linda Clifton of Clifton Fork, Va.; sons, David Clifton and wife, Donna, and Cloyd Clifton and wife, Trudy, all of Richlands, Andy Clifton and wife, Cathy, of Swords Creek, Rick Clifton and wife, Lorie, of Pounding Mill, Joe Clifton and fiancée, Jennifer Haas, of Charlottesville; brother, Thurman Burke of Raven; sister, Madiline Thompson and husband, Virgil, of Greencastle, IN; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; special friends, Mary Jane Keen and Berlin Viers; nephew, Tommy Brown; several nieces and nephews; and little friend, Roxanne.

Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Frankie Lee Coxton, Sr.
Frankie Lee Coxton, Sr., 41, of Tazewell, died June 28, 2006 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 11, 1964 in Richlands, he was a son of Lester Adam Coxton and Rosie Johnson Coxton of Tazewell.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Robert Coxton, and his paternal grandmother, Elva Coxton.
Additional survivors: daughter, Sara Jo Coxton of Howell, MI; sons, Frankie Lee Coxton, Jr. of Blue Ridge, GA, Christopher Adam Coxton, Jason Adam Coxton, and Roby Lee Coxton, all of Tazewell; sisters, Melissa Sue Brown and Dolores Linda Brown, both of Tazewell; brother, Johnny Dean Coxton of Tazewell; grandchild, Shelby Lynn Coxton; maternal grandmother, Hazel Johnson of Honaker; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. July 1 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Michael Justice and the Rev. Dr. Janice Harris officiating.
Burial followed at the Coxton Family cemetery in Thompson Valley.
Flora Mae Davis Dills
Flora Mae Davis Dills, 90, of Cedar Bluff, died July 3, 2006 in a Richlands hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Eva Mae Cox Davis, both Tazewell County natives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of the Cedar Bluff Community Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Dills, and three brothers, Oliver, Gratt, and Joe Ed Davis.
Survivors: sister, Mary Pearl Davis Nipper and husband, June, of Steelesburg; special nieces, Sylvia Davis Dye and husband, James, and Geraldine Davis, widow of the late Curtis Davis, all of Cedar Bluff; and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted July 5 at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Richard Smith and Lawrence Davis officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
