Louie Wayne Dennis
Louie Wayne Dennis, 57, of 2139 Tunnel Hill Road, Millboro, Va., died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.
He was born Feb. 8, 1951, in Nashville, Tenn., the son of Louie P. Dennis and Francis Davis Dennis. He was married
to Amy Elizabeth Dennis, whom he married
on July 10, 2000.
Mr. Dennis was retired from Reynolds Metals in Grottoes, Va. He was a member of the Living Stones Ministries in Clifton Forge.
He is survived by his mother, Francis Davis Dennis of Richmond, Va.; his wife, Amy Elizabeth Dennis of Millboro; two daughters, Lee Dennis of Elkton, Va. and Tammy Dennis of Shenandoah, Va.; a brother, Richard Dennis of Japan; two sisters, Mary Elliot and husband, Don, of Richmond, and Kay Morris and husband, Wayne, of Bridgewater, Va.; two stepchildren, Sarah Hupp of Roanoke, Va., and Creg Ryan Hupp of Millboro; three grandchildren, Kassie Dennis, Savana Mullins and Jade Mullins; and his former wife, Goldie Dennis of Shenandoah, Va.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Living Stones Ministries with Pastor Mike Rollins officiating. Interment will be in the Windy Cove cemetery in Millboro. Pallbearers will be Rodney Crawford, Joey and Joshua Morris, Ryan Hupp, Alex Arnold, and Phillip and Daryn Dennis.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church.
There will be a memorial service held locally at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, Va. at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008.

Christopher Alan Maiden
Christopher Alan Maiden, 23, of Elkton, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Aug. 4, 2008.
Christopher was born May 6, 1985, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of Rickie and Debby Maiden and Karla Stoneberger Marshall and John Marshall, all of Elkton.
He was a 2003 graduate of Spotswood High School and was employed at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Mount Crawford. Christopher loved hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors - he lived life to the fullest. He was attending the Shenandoah Assembly of God Church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Priscilla May-Maiden; stepbrothers, Timmy Marshall of Grottoes, Robert Marshall of Warrenton, Brandon Hensley of Alexandria; stepsisters, Tabitha Hensley of Harrisonburg, Tara Evans of Grottoes; a special cousin, Charity Clements of Elkton; grandparents, H.L. Maiden Jr. and Mildred, Charles Stoneberger, Joyce Morris. Christopher was preceded in death by a grandmother, Shirley Stoneberger.
Pastor Carter Dean will conduct the funeral service 11:00 Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will be in the Dean Mountain cemetery on Skyline Drive.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

David Martin Adams
David Martin Adams, 97, a resident of Birch Gardens Assisted Living in Fishersville for the past four years, and formerly of Mount Crawford, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008.
Mr. Adams was born May 14, 1911, in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late Medford and Mary Garber Adams.
David was a self-employed farmer and was a member of Belmont Church of Christ. He was previously a member of Bridgewater Church of the Brethren and Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren, where he sang in the choir. He was a charter member of the Rockingham Male Chorus and also a member of the Rockingham Octet that sang on WSVA radio in June 1935 during the first half-hour WSVA was on the air.
On June 21, 1934, he married
Vesta Grace Landes, who preceded him in death Dec. 5, 1994. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, June Adams Gibble, in 2007 and by a granddaughter, Teresa Ann Rittenhouse, in 1999.
He is survived by three sons, James D. "Jim" Adams and Jo of Staunton, John W. Adams and Donna of Dayton and Lowell W. Adams and Pat of Columbia, Md.; three daughters, Donna Kay Adams Rittenhouse and Wilbur of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Grace Adams of South Dartmouth, Mass., and Karen Adams Wyrick and Ron of Harrisonburg; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Members of the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg with Minister Lucas Vasconcellos officiating.

Harvey Eugene Stover
Harvey Eugene Stover, 69, of Melrose, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Stover was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Staunton, and was the son of the late Raymond E. and Frances Fulwider Stover.
He was employed by Metro Pants in Bridgewater, was a mechanic with the Ford Motor Company and more recently was employed by the City of Harrisonburg.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Anale Perry Stover, whom he married
Jan. 14, 1956; two sons, Harvey L. Stover and John O. Stover, and a daughter, Cathy Stover Smallwood, all of Melrose; a sister, Alice Stover Fauber of Weyers Cave; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pastors Lloyd T. Sprinkle and Guy Hudson will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday at Melrose Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at Rest Haven cemetery.
There will be no formal visitation but friends are welcome to come by the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg at anytime.
James David Donovan
James David Donovan, 38, of Harrisonburg, died unexpectedly Monday, July 28, 2008.
He was a lifelong Rockingham County resident and fixed and repaired bicycles. He took over Cleveland and Lucky's Legacy helping needy people.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline M. Donovan, whom he married
Oct. 20, 1997. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara A. McDaniel of Harrisonburg; a brother, Reese McDaniel of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Linda Moubray of Bridgewater, Leisa Good of Harrisonburg and Meneisa Leija of Reading, Pa.; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Marie Dodson of Harrisonburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sanford Davis Donovan, and stepfather, Cecil Cleveland McDaniel.
A service of remembrance will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastors James Harrison, Margaret Michael and Roger Dove officiating.

Robert Franklin "Bob" Deputy
Robert Franklin "Bob" Deputy, 92, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Deputy was born Nov. 24, 1915, in Washington, D.C., and was the son of the late Isaac and Ollie Liskey Deputy.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and attended St. Andrews United Church of Christ. He was a farmer and a feed salesman with Conagra Feed Company. He was a member of the Virginia Angus Association, a two-time Governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was the last living charter member of the Keezletown Ruritan Club.
Mr. Deputy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Rion Bowman VFW Post No. 632 and the Mount Crawford Ruritan Club. He assisted annually with cattle sales at the Rockingham County and Virginia State Fairs.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vada Steele Deputy.
Survivors include his wife, Elenora Menefee Deputy; a stepdaughter, Ann M. Jarrels of Mount Crawford; a stepson, Warren L. Sampson of Grottoes; a sister, Virginia D. Roberts of Stephens City and a nephew.
The Rev. Doyle Payne will conduct a graveside service 3 p.m. Tuesday at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
There will be no formal visitation but friends are invited to come by the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg at anytime.

Jonathan Tyler Bennett
Jonathan Tyler Bennett, five months, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in the Emergency Room at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 10, 2008, in Columbus, Ohio, and was the son of John Shannon and Michelle Williams Bennett of Harrisonburg.
Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Joshua Stephen and Michael Edward Bennett, both of Harrisonburg; paternal grandparents, Phyllis A. Bennett of Harrisonburg and Joe Arthur Warble of Grottoes, and maternal grandparents, Charles and Linda Williams of Virginia Beach.
Blaine Smith will conduct the memorial service 7 p.m. Saturday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private.
Beverly Allen "Butch" Charleton, Sr.
Beverly Allen "Butch" Charleton Sr., 65, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Charleton was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of Edna Marie Charleton and the late Elmer Lee Charleton Sr.
He was self-employed for over 25 years by Mason Contracting as a brick mason.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Charleton, whom he married
Sept. 1, 1961; two sons, Beverly Charleton Jr. and Donald Charleton; three daughters, Jeanine Dinges, Tina Conley and Melissa Charleton; a brother, Elmer Charleton Jr.; three sisters, Carolyn Dean, Janet Myers, and Nancy Dean; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Jeremy Poling will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Rest Haven cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at the funeral home.
Anna Pauline Breeden
Anna Pauline Breeden, 92, of Elkton, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Breeden was born April 29, 1916, in the Fox Mountain area of Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late George William and Julie Susan Thomas Lam.
She attended Fox Mountain School near Elkton. She was a homemaker and made quilts. She worked at Sleepwear Inc. in Elkton and in her earlier years, she was a self-employed housekeeper for many families.
Her husband, Melvin Monroe Breeden, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Roy Hammer of Kearnsville, W.Va., and Melvin Hammer and Gary Hammer, both of Elkton; three daughters, Betty Hensley of Elkton, Evelyn Crawford of Grottoes, and Ann Frazier of Shenandoah; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Pastor Nona F. Allen will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at Furnace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Jollett Neighborhood cemetery in Page County near Elkton.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 this evening at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Breeden home at anytime.
Velma Naomi Clark
Velma Naomi Clark, 73, of Harrisonburg, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. Ms. Clark was born July 27, 1935, in Timberville to the late Kirby Allen and Gladys Naomi Campbell Clark.
Velma graduated from Timberville High School and was a member of Harrisonburg Baptist Church and had been attending Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene. Her familiar face was well known through her employment at 7-Eleven locations throughout the city. She had gained many dear and personal friends during her lifetime.
Survivors include her very special dog, Sparky; two sisters, Genny E. Kline of Harrisonburg and Virginia 'Oscar' Estep and husband, Joe, of Mt. Jackson; four half brothers; one half sister; two nieces; two special nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews.
A celebration reception in her memory will be held Sunday evening, Aug. 17, 2008, between the hours of 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. As per her request her body was cremated and a scattering ceremony will be held at a later date. Velma's wishes for those that attend the informal memory reception are encouraged to wear casual attire and celebrate her life in a way in which she would be honored.

Coleman "Toby" Wayne Taylor
Coleman 'Toby' Wayne Taylor, 46, of Shenandoah, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Taylor was born Feb. 2, 1962, in Houston, Texas, and was the son of Hank James Taylor of Texas and Sally Ann Coutee of Texas.
He was a pipe fitter and welder for various companies including E.A. Breeden, Inc., Greenwood Construction, both in Elkton, and Valley Industrial Piping, Inc., in Waynesboro.
On April 9, 2005, he married
Virginia Faye Grimsley, who survives.
Surviving besides his wife and parents and two brothers, Terry Taylor and Russell Taylor, both of Texas; a sister, Tammy Mossett of Texas; a son, Eugene Shifflett of Elkton; three daughters, Angela Faye Painter and Sherry Lynn Owens, both of Stanley, and Crystal Gail Shifflett of Shenandoah; seven grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.
Pastor Jim Noakes will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at the Upper Room Church in Elkton. Burial will be in the McAlister cemetery in the Comertown area of Shenandoah.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Taylor home anytime.
