Jerry Lee Deviers
Jerry Lee Deviers, 42, of Harrisonburg, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Deviers was born Aug. 20, 1965, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of Ronald and Pauline Deviers.
He worked in construction doing sheet rock and drywall finishing. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Harrisonburg.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela K. Deviers; three brothers, Harold Ludholtz Jr. of Mount Crawford, and Ronnie Deviers and William Whetzel, both of Penn Laird; and six sisters, Brenda Varner of Mount Crawford, Barbara Harold of Weyers Cave, Jo Ann Thompson of Indiana, Evon Fuchs of Chambersburg, Pa., and Donna Beach and Jamie Williams, both of Harrisonburg.
Pastor James Kite will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Jackie "Jack" Edwards
Jackie 'Jack' Francis Edwards, 74, of Elkton, went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on Monday, June 23, 2008, at 3:50 p.m.Sample Image
Mr. Edwards was born June 17, 1934, in Moore County, N.C., and was the son of the late Samuel Jordan and Hazel Wallace Edwards. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Samuel Edwards, Bernie Edwards and Margaret Ann Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was a member of the International Pentecostal Church of Christ in Grottoes and had been employed by Rockingham County Public Schools and also had worked for Stanley Furniture in Waynesboro.
On Jan. 8, 1954, he married
his wife of 54 years, the Rev. Margaret Gibson Edwards, Pastor of the International Pentecostal Church of Christ in Grottoes. He is also survived by five daughters, Jackie Allen and her late husband, Christopher, of Harrisonburg, Lynn Sawyer and her husband, Jim, of Waynesboro, Tina Cook and her husband, Rob, of Bridgewater, Denise Shifflett and her husband, Rodney, of Elkton, Jenny Plume and friend, Rich, of Elkton; one son, the Rev. Timmy Edwards and wife, Tiffany, of Elkton; brother, Robert Edwards and wife, Dianne, Pinehurst, N.C.; sister, Helen Wilson and husband, Jimmy, of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Kim Plume, Leslie Sawyer, Andy Sawyer, Justin Edwards, Heather Cook, Harley Shifflett, Cassy Smith; three great-grandchildren, Kendall, Kris, Jorgia.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Landmark Tabernacle in McGaheysville with the Rev. Mark Meeker, the Rev. Andrew Draughn and the Rev. Keith Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Run cemetery in Elkton.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

George William Almarode
George William Almarode, 81 of Grottoes, died June 21, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Almarode was born June 14, 1927, in Waynesboro, and was the son of the late George R. and Maggie Darnell Almarode.
He was a member of the Basic United Methodist Church in Waynesboro the Grottoes V.F.W. and the Waynesboro Antique Car Club. He was an Army Veteran of post World War II Korea and enjoyed restoring antique cars and fishing. He owned and operated Almarode Lock & Key before retiring and previously worked as a supervisor at Grace Company (Wayne-Tex) in Waynesboro.
On May 23, 1969, he married
Venda (Shifflett) Almarode, who survives. Also surviving are a son, George W. "Bill" Almarode II and wife, Cindy, Chesterfield; a daughter, Peggy Lam and special friend, Jeff Baugher, McGaheysville; a sister, Ida A. Showker, Staunton; grandsons, Zack Almarode, Tommy Almarode, Mike Allen and wife, Lindsey, Eddie Allen and wife, Cathy; great-grandchildren, Monica Weaver, Brianna Allen, Tyler Allen. Besides his parents, Mr. Almarode was preceded in death by siblings, Paul Almarode, Carl Almarode, T. Nelson Robinson, Ola Bowles; and a granddaughter, Brittany Lam.
The Rev. John Via and Danny Breeden will conduct the funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at the St. Stephens and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Rocky Bar near Elkton. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet cemetery in McGaheysville. Pallbearers will be Frank Almarode, Colby Breeden, Mike Breeden, Skip Showker, Danny Breeden, Anthony Showker; Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Breeden, Russ Coiner, Ed Lavender, Bobby Gordon, Walter Dean, Jim Gregory.
The family will receive friends Monday evening 7 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Almarode home at any time.

Felicitas Trinidad-Bruno
Felicitas Trinidad Bruno, 61, of Harrisonburg, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mrs. Trinidad Bruno was born May 18, 1947, in Michoacan, Mexico to the late Felix Trinidad and Eusebia Bruno.
She came to the area nine years ago from Mexico to be with her family. She attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Artemio Pablo Trinidad of Passaic, N.J.; two daughters, Imelda Pablo Trinidad and Sara Pablo Trinidad, both of Harrisonburg, and five grandchildren.
A wake service will be held 7 p.m. today at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Father Anthony Marques leading in prayer. Following the viewing, she will be cremated and interment will be in Mexico at a later date.
Dorman Hensley
Dorman Harold Hensley, 65, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Hensley was born April 24, 1943, in McGaheysville, and was the son of Eula Eppard Hensley of Harrisonb urg and the late Harold Stephen Hensley.
He graduated from Montevideo High School and retired from Shickle Machine Shop, where he was a machinist. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the AARP.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Pastors Wayne Wright and Gerald Meeks will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Monday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet cemetery in McGaheysville.
S. Mervin Lambert
S. Mervin Lambert, 89, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Avante Nursing Center.
Mr. Lambert was born June 23, 1918, in Arbovale, W.Va., and was the son of the late Samuel and Vivian Lambert. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Ritchie Lambert, in September of 1950.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines. Until his retirement in 1975, he spent most of his life working in the poultry business but after retirement; he purchased L&S Diner, which was his family business until 2006. He was a member of Sunrise Church of the Brethren and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.
On April 20, 1940, he married
Janet Ritchie Lambert, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Samuel M. Lambert Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Harrisonburg and Jeff M. Lambert and wife, Bonnie, of Freeland, Md.; a daughter, Joyce L. Graves of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Robert Lambert of Charlottesville and Richard Lambert of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Juanita Simmons of Harrisonburg and Kay Simmons of Mount Airy, N.C.; six grandchildren, Sam Lambert III, Samantha Garguilo, Elizabeth Gillenwater, Porter Graves III, Matthew Graves, and Andrew Graves; and 13 great- grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Woodbine cemetery followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. at Sunrise Church of the Brethren at 1496 S. Main St. in Harrisonburg with the Rev. Dr. J.D. Glick and Pastor Porter Graves III and the Rev. Don Fogelsanger officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Debra Heiston Jenkins
Debra Sue Heiston Jenkins, 53, of Elkton, died June 15, 2008, at her home.
Ms. Jenkins was born July 9, 1954, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of William Carlyle Heiston Sr. of Elkton and the late Lorine Elizabeth Davis Heiston.
She was a lifetime resident of the area and was a military sales specialist for Cargill in Weyers Cave. She was a member of the Skyline Eagles in Elkton, an avid gardener, enjoyed Karaoke, and spending time with family and friends.
Besides her father, she is survived by a daughter, Mendi Varnado and husband, DeWayne, of Virginia Beach; a brother, William C. Heiston Jr. and wife, Gail, of Elkton; a sister, Lisa Heiston George and husband, Ken, of Parsons, Kan.; one grandchild, Carlee Varnado; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pastor Clyde Plum and Pastor Wayne Wright will conduct a memorial service 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Burial will be private.

Allen Dale Shifflett
Allen Dale Shifflett, 65, of Elkton, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Avante of Harrisonburg, where he had been a resident for a short while.
Mr. Shifflett was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Elkton, and was the son of the late Rex Thomas and Annie Downey Shifflett.
Allen was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1961 to 1963 and retired from McQuay International in Verona as a machinist. He attended the Evangelical United Methodist Church as a child and also attended the Upper Room Church, both in Elkton. He coached Senior League and Amateur League baseball and softball for the Wranglers in Elkton.
Survivors include son, Wade Shifflett and wife, Kim, of Elkton; daughter, Tracey Todd of Elkton; sister, Patricia Morris of Shenandoah; and three grandchildren, Meghan Nicholson, Drew Shifflett, Gracie Shifflett.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at the Upper Room Church in Elkton with the Rev. Barbara Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Run cemetery in Elkton with graveside rites by the Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8 p.m. at the Upper Room Church.
Rebecca "Frances" Brand
Rebecca Frances Brand, 94, of Bridgewater Nursing Home, died Saturday, July 5, 2008.
Mrs. Brand was born March 30, 1914, in Augusta County and was the daughter of the late John and Laura Lucas Reed.
She worked for Rockingham Memorial Hospital for many years before retiring in 1984. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.
In 1946, she married
John T. Brand, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph Brand of Devine, Texas, and Tom Brand of Cooper City, Fla.; and one grandson.
Services will be conducted at a later date.

Dorothy Mae Gray Hensley
Dorothy Mae Gray Hensley, 91, of Elkton, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Dovel's Home for Adults.
Mrs. Hensley was born June 5, 1917, in Berkeley County, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late David E. and Sarah Alice Cave Gray.
She moved to the area from West Virginia 77 years ago and was a member of the Blue Ridge Independent Church. She volunteered for the Elkton Area United Services and volunteered at the Republican Headquarters in Harrisonburg.
On Jan. 11, 1933, she married
Jefferson Whitfield Hensley Sr., who preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Jefferson W. Hensley Jr. of Elkton and Lawrence G. Hensley of Shenandoah; two daughters, Barbara Knighton and Patricia Berry, both of Elkton; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Brad Lewis and Pastor Gerald Meeks will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Saturday at the Blue Ridge Independent Church in Elkton. Burial will be in Elk Run cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Friends may also call at the home of Doug and Pat Berry at any time.

James Delano Baugher
James Delano Baugher, 63, of Elkton, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Baugher was born May 26, 1945, in the Sandy Bottom area of Rockingham County, and was the son of Virginia Williams Baugher of Elkton and the late James Lewis Baugher. Besides his father, Mr. Baugher was preceded in death by a brother, Gary W. Baugher.
Delano attended the Sandy Bottom School and had attended the Sandy Bottom Mennonite Church in his youth.
On Aug. 3, 1973, he married
Carolyn 'Sue' Lam, who survives. Besides his wife, and mother, survivors include daughters, Crystal Lam and husband, Mike, of Shenandoah, Wendy Baugher, Gail Shifflett and husband, Jerry, Tina Eppard and husband, Alan, all of Elkton; a brother, Garland Baugher and wife, Frances, of Elkton; three sisters, Diane Conley, Kaye Davis and husband, Bobby, Faye Baugher, all of Elkton; grandchildren, Dustin Lam, Kendra Lam, Megan Shifflett, Matthew Shifflett; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Burial will be at a later date.
