WINCHESTER - Kristy Renee Mason, 26, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in Richmond as the result of an automobile accident.
Ms. Mason was born Feb. 14, 1979, in Winchester, daughter of Charles Stanley and Patricia Shanholtz Mason and the granddaughter of Gladys Shanholtz and the late Clayton and Mary P. Mason. She had been a Community Living Coach for disabled children at Grafton and currently was working as a medical records secretary at Winchester Cardiology while she pursued her degree in nursing. She attended Salvation Army Church.
Surviving with her parents of Frederick County and her maternal grandmother are two children, Jordan Scott Mason and Kayla Denee Reese, both at home; a brother, Charlie Mason and wife Susan of Woodstock; two nieces, Ashleigh Lockley of Strasburg and Emileigh Mason of Fort Eustis; three nephews, Trent Mason of Fort Eustis, Zach Mason and Ben Garman, both of Woodstock; and six aunts and uncles, Dave and Rhonda Shanholtz and their daughter Beth Luzier, Susan Shanholtz and her fianc" Glen Kerns and daughter Lexy Kerns, Mike Shanholtz and his children Cody and Kristen Shanholtz, Marie Miller and her son Derek Wright, Jo Ann Fowler and Faye Wolfe.
The funeral was conducted Friday, Dec. 2, at Omps Funeral Home, Winchester, by Capt. Richard White. Interment was in New Hope Baptist cemetery.

Jeannie A. Potee
MOUNT JACKSON - Jeannie A. Poteet, 80, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at her home.
Mrs. Poteet was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Spokane, Wash., daughter of the late Walter W. Smith and Alice King Smith. She met her husband, Jennings Poteet, on a bus trip from San Francisco to Spokane. They were married
in March 1942. She spent the next 18 years as a Navy wife, living in Hawaii, Washington, California, Virginia and the District of Columbia. From 1960 to 1985, they lived in California and Oregon before settling in Mount Jackson, where she lived until her passing. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and Eagles Lodge 3384 in Mill City, Ore. She enjoyed volunteer service and worked at Mount Jackson Thrift Shop. She had worked in a California high school cafeteria for a number of years. She enjoyed travel, camping, playing card and other games, and baking cookies for her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Jennings J. Poteet; two daughters, Charlotte Harlin of Green Valley, Ariz. and Janet K. Kawecki and husband Charles of Alexandria; a sister, Pat A. Woodward of Rialto, Calif.; six grandchildren, Brian C. Harlin of Wisconsin, Darell S. Harlin of Minnesota, Anne E. Kawecki of Maryland, Catherine Kawecki LaJack of Mississippi, Margaret Kawecki Crook of North Carolina and Charles E. Kawecki of Virginia; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at St. James Lutheran Church, Hudsons Cross Road, by Pastor Rick Krasneck. Burial will be in Hudsons Cross Roads cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles C. Kawecki, Charles E. Kawecki, Brian C. Harlin, Darell S. Harlin, Charles K. LaJack and Richard C. Delawder.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowmans Crossing.

Jacob Granville "Bubby" Ritenour Jr
FRONT ROYAL - Jacob Granville "Bubby" Ritenour Jr., 61, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, surrounded by his loving and devoted family and friends.
Mr. Ritenour was born June 3, 1944, in Woodstock, son of Beatrice Johnson Ritenour of Strasburg and the late Jacob Granville Ritenour Sr. He grew up in Shenandoah County and attended Strasburg High School. He was the former owner of Central Barber Shop in Front Royal and currently owned and operated Ritenour Trucking. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working on his truck.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 33 years, Carol Anne Ritenour; four devoted sons, Anthony Wade Ritenour I, Chad Lee Ritenour, Jeffrey Stuart Ritenour and Rodney Allen Burke, all of Front Royal; two sisters, Judith Ritenour Troxell and husband Jackie and Trudy Ellen Ritenour, all of Strasburg; a brother, Moe Ritenour of Strasburg; five grandchildren, Anthony Ritenour II, Samantha Ritenour, Alex Ritenour, Brandon Burke and Nathan Burke, all of Front Royal; three uncles, Douglas Ritenour, Robert Ritenour and Charles Johnson; an aunt, Audrey Hepner; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Maddox Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Young and Alfred Lawrence officiating

Joyce Ann Shillingburg
STRASBURG - Joyce Ann Shillingburg, 56, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at her home.
Mrs. Shillingburg was born Feb. 14, 1949, in Columbia, S.C., daughter of the late Harold Jacob and Cebia Gruber.
Surviving are her husband, James Tyler Shillingburg Sr.; two daughters, Sherry E. Gonzalez of Woodstock and Tammy A. Yanez of Mount Jackson; five sons, Joe Shillingburg of Toms Brook, Tom Shillingburg of Maurertown, James Shillingburg Jr. of Woodstock, Wayne Shillingburg of New York and Daniel Shillingburg of Strasburg; and 20 grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock, by Pastor Larry Rinard. Burial was in Panorama Memorial Gardens.
Harry Rollings Vance
STAR TANNERY - Harry Rollings Vance, 75, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at the Blue Ridge Hospice Center in Winchester.
Mr. Vance was born on March 27, 1930, in Vance"s Cove, son of the late Thomas and Ethel Strosnider Vance. He retired after 49 years in the dry cleaning business.
Surviving is a sister, Regie Dietz of Front Royal.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg with the Rev. Robert K. Bohm and Pastor Lance Braun officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Springs cemetery, Star Tannery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Vance, Charles Vance Sr., Charles Vance Jr., Sonny Vance, Dwane Catlett and Milton McInturff Jr.
Barry Papke will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

David Ashby Tyler Waybright
LURAY - David Ashby Tyler Waybright, 16, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Waybright was born March 15, 1989, in Harrisonburg, son of Robert Goodier of Mount Jackson and the late Echo Lynn Waybright. He was the foster son of his uncle and aunt, James and Karen Waybright of Luray and had lived with them since his mother"s death in 2003. Previously, he had lived with his great uncle and great aunt, John and Mary Ann Waybright of Luray.
He was a junior at Luray High School and played varsity football and junior varsity basketball and baseball.
In addition to his foster parents and father, he is survived by a sister, Chelsie Lauren Waybright of Luray; and grandfather and step-grandmother, James and Gwynne Waybright of Salisbury, Md.
The Rev. David Johnson conducted the funeral Saturday, Dec. 3, at Rileyville Baptist Church, north of Luray. Burial followed in St. Matthew"s cemetery at Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market.

Alease Elizabeth Wine
Alease Elizabeth Wine, 83, of Woodstock, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at Tandem Health Care in Woodstock.
Mrs. Wine was born July 7, 1922, in Shenandoah, daughter of the late Cecil D. and Lillie M. Farrar Trainham. She worked for the Division of Motor Vehicles in Franconia and was a member of Woodstock Presbyterian Church. She was the wife of the late Guy Paxton Wine.
Surviving is a son, Ken Wine of Woodstock.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowmans Crossing, by the Rev. Lisa Webb. Burial was in Sunset View Memorial Gardens.

Golden Edward "Goldie" Salmons
(October 6, 1942 - June 8, 2013)
Golden Edward "Goldie" Salmons, 70, of Dayton, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at his home.
Golden was born in Julian, WV, on October 6, 1942, and was a son of the late Lowell and Irene (Isaac) Burchett.
He had worked for Wampler Foods in Hinton, and attended First Assembly of God Church in Harrisonburg.
On July 5, 1974, he was united in marriage to Frances "Roxie" (Hinkle) Salmons, who survives.
Golden is also survived by two daughters, Diwanna Salmons Eye (Tommy) of Dayton, and Jennifer Salmons Turner (Ricky) of Dayton; three sisters, Julie Huffman of Dayton, Shirley Sheets and husband Harold of Dayton, Sue Donovan and husband Tim of Shenandoah; two brothers, James Salmons and wife Peggy of Boston, MA, Andy Sammons and wife Lois of Ohio; seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a son, James Edward Salmons, and three brothers, Billy Burchett, Garland Burchett, and Lowell Salmons.
Golden loved his family and friends. He lived a full life, always known as the life of any party. His family and friends found great comfort in his spirit and his passion for caring for others will surely be missed.
A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, with Rev. George Yoder and Rev. Jeffrey B. Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Briery Branch Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the funeral home in Bridgewater.

Robert "Bobby" Cameron Good
(February 20, 1932 - June 11, 2013)
U.S. Veteran - Robert "Bobby" Cameron Good, 81, of Grottoes, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at University of Virginia Medical Center.
Bobby was born in Mill Creek, VA, on February 20, 1932, and was a son of the late John F. and Evelyn Virginia (Randall) Good.
He worked at Gayles Market in Port Republic for the last twelve years, and had retired from Jim Sneed Ford in 1997. He was a member of Grottoes Church of the Brethren, and served in the U.S. Army.
On July 31, 1955, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Evelyn (Hargesheimer) Good, who preceded him in death on May 8, 1999.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Karen Burruss and husband Jim of Port Republic; a step-son, Joe "Sparky" Morris of Grottoes; an adopted sister, Patsy Burkholder of McGaheysville; two grandsons, Jason Mace and wife Amy and Adam Mace; and three great-grandchildren, Haley, Harley, Garrett Axl Mace.
He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laura Virginia Good, and three brothers, John F., Mickie, and David L. Good.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Grottoes Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Keith Whitmer and Pastor John Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Port Republic Mutual cemetery with military graveside rights by Dayton American Legion Post 27.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes, or at the home of Carmen "Boots" Good at anytime.

Verne Sheffer
(January 4, 1928 - June 12, 2013)
Verne (Knott) Sheffer, 85, of Mt. Solon, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
She was born in Augusta County on January 4, 1928, and was a daughter of the late John H. and Carrie Edna (Grinnings) Knott.
Verne worked at Buckhorn Inn. She attended Briery Branch Church of the Brethren.
She was united in marriage on June 30, 1951 to John Paul Sheffer, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2006.
Surviving is a daughter, Tammy Shifflett and husband Doug of Verona; a son, Jeffery Sheffer and wife Janet of Harrisonburg; two brothers, John H. Knott and wife Evelyn of Bridgewater and Vance Knott and wife Pauline of Mt. Solon. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Amanda Sheffer, Olivia Sheffer, Julia Sheffer, Justin Shifflett, Lindsey Shifflett, and McKinsey Shifflett.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Willodean Botkin, Ruth Surface, and Myrtle Knott; and two brothers, Herman Knott and Lee Knott.
A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2013 with Pastor Bob Weeks officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 at the funeral home.
