Norma L. Dellinger
EDINBURG – Norma L. Dellinger, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at the home of her brother, Aubey Dellinger.
Miss Dellinger was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Johnstown, Pa., daughter of the late Aubey A. Dellinger Sr. and Martha Bowers Dellinger. She worked as a nurse her whole life, first at Susan Miller Hospital, then Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital, and after retirement at Craven Hall Nursing Home. She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ at Conicville.
Surviving are two brothers, Aubey A. Dellinger Jr. and wife Thelma of Edinburg and Clyde F. Dellinger and wife Charlotte of Devine, Texas; one niece, Sandra D. Nelson of Edinburg; great-niece, Morgan Nelson of Edinburg; and a great-nephew, Hunter Nelson of Edinburg.
A graveside service was conducted Saturday, Feb. 4, at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, Woodstock, by the Rev. John F. Taylor Jr.

Loy Albert “Little Cut” Didawick
EDINBURG – Loy Albert “Little Cut” Didawick, 87, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.
Mr. Didawick was born Aug. 24, 1918, in Woodstock, son of the late K. Frank and Maggie Burner Didawick. He was a 1937 graduate of Woodstock High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland. He was a retired truck driver for McLean Trucking. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he was an active lay reader and song leader, Edinburg Charge of the United Methodist Men and the St. Luke-Fairview Ruritan Club.
Surviving are his wife, B. Cleo Jones Didawick, whom he married
on Aug. 3, 1963; son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Lori C. Didawick of Woodstock; brother and sister-in-law, Roy “Big Cut” and Teny Didawick of Woodstock; two grandchildren, Lauren M. Didawick and Tyler A. Didawick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrl Heishman and Arlene Vann; and three brothers, Harry Didawick, Raymond Didawick and Rodney Didawick.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock, by the Revs. Timothy Teates and C. Bernard Troutman. Burial, with military honors by Woodstock American Legion Post No. 199, will follow in Massanutten cemetery in Woodstock.
Pallbearers will be Dan Bowman, Terry Kibler, Mike Hollar, Richard Burner, Rob Ebersole and Tim Carter.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home.

Neufer Moulton Eye
STRASBURG – Neufer Moulton Eye, 84, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Eye was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Franklin, W.Va., son of the late Robert Andrew and Zell Warner Eye. He was a veteran of the Army, having served in the battles of Ardennes and Rhineland and in Central Europe during World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He retired from the Winchester Southern States service department. He was a member of the Strasburg Presbyterian Church, the Westminister Brotherhood and the Strasburg Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Izetta Snider Eye; a son, Ronald S. Eye of Mathias, W.Va.; four daughters, Nancy D. Mumaw of Edinburg, Jane Richard of Toms Brook, Pat D. Robinson of Woodstock and Lisa E. Pangle of Strasburg; sister, Rosamond “Chungy” Moyers of Mathias, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. David Howard conducted the funeral Thursday, Feb. 2, at Strasburg Presbyterian Church. Burial, with military honors by the Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77 of Strasburg, was in Panorama Memorial Gardens in Warren County.

Samuel Moore Fowle
RICHMOND – Samuel Moore Fowle, 62, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Parham Health Care Center in Richmond.
Mr. Fowle was born July 15, 1943, in New Market, son of the late William Holmes Fowle Sr. and Louise Harris Fowle. He was a member of the Mount Jackson Masonic Lodge 103.
Surviving are two daughters, Dana Fowle of Atlanta and Kimberly Early of Bridgewater; a sister, Mary Lou White of Richmond; a brother, William Holmes Fowle Jr. of Gretna; and two granddaughters.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Mount Jackson Masonic Lodge 103.

Virgil Lamar Garber
TIMBERVILLE – Virgil Lamar Garber, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006.
Mr. Garber was born March 9, 1916, son of the late Lester Martin and Lura Strickler Garber. He was a 1933 graduate of Timberville High School, a 1961 graduate of Unitech Electronic Laboratories in Louisville, Ky., and graduated second from the top of his class of 100 at Stewart Tech, New York City. He enlisted in the Air Corps in 1942, serving three years in World War II in the Azores and honorably discharged in 1945. He was a member of Timberville Church of the Brethren for 78 years, where he served on the deacon board and taught Sunday school for 55 years. He retired from Walker Manufacturing in Harrisonburg after 20 years of serving as an electronics technician.
Surviving are his wife, Phoebe Grace Botkin Garber; one son, Stephen L. Garber and wife Kathy of Waynesboro; two daughters, Joan Louise and husband James Graham of Richmond and Dr. Janet Garber Loker and husband Wayne of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, Paul Loker of Reston, David Garber of Blacksburg, Jonathan Garber of Waynesboro, Mandy Sexton and husband Chuck of Richmond and Elizabeth Loker of Harrisonburg; two step-grandchildren, Ellen Graham of Richmond and Greg Graham of Petersburg; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Frontz of New Market and Lura Ritchie of Harrisonburg; one half sister, Martha Siebert of Sydney, Ohio; one half brother, Warren Garber and wife Ellen of Broadway; two half sisters-in-law, Eleanor Garber of Timberville and Christine Garber of Harrisonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was conducted Monday, Feb. 6, at Timberville Church of the Brethren by Pastor Bernard Fuska. Burial was private.

Eddie R. Grandison
Eddie R. Grandison, 72, of Woodstock, formerly of Strasburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, in Tandem Health Care of Woodstock.
Mr. Grandison was born July 7, 1933, in Wardensville, W.Va., son of Homer Richard and Mary Elizabeth Payne Grandison.
He retired from Ashworth Brothers in Winchester as a machine operator and had worked at Abex Corp. in Winchester and Chemstone in Strasburg for 15 years. He was a Methodist and the husband of the late Rosetta Beckwith Grandison.
Surviving are four daughters, Eddie Rochelle Paige of Martinsburg, W.Va., Cathy Sloan of Wellsville, Ohio, Sheila Clinedinst of Strasburg and Tonya Shawn Grandison of Woodstock; two brothers, Maynard Grandison of Winchester and Norman Grandison of Wardensville, W.Va.; a sister, Hazel Redman of Petersburg, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral was conducted Sunday, Feb. 5, at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, by Pastor Clarence E. Acklin. Burial was in Mount Zion cemetery, Strasburg.

Ernest Dow Ketterman
HARRISONBURG – Ernest Dow Ketterman, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Ketterman was born March 27, 1929, in Mathias, W.Va., son of the late Noah and Rosa Ritchie Ketterman. He was employed at the WLR Feed Mill for 32 years before retiring and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mount Valley United Methodist Church near Harrisonburg, the Harrisonburg VFW Post 632 and the N.R.A.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Belle Mongold Ketterman, whom he married
on May 12, 1956; two daughters, Phyllis Elaine Reedy and Kathryn Gay Ketterman, both of Harrisonburg; a grandson he helped raise, James L. Ketterman of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Delsie Siever of New Market, Mamie Gay Phillips and Juna Hess, both of Harrisonburg; and many nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Eric Bennett conducted the funeral Saturday, Feb. 4, at Mount Valley United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

John D. Miller Sr.
TOMS BROOK – John D. Miller Sr., 76, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Woodstock Eldercare.
Mr. Miller was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Shenandoah County, son of the late Lester Michael and Gladys McDonald Miller. He was a graduate of Lord Fairfax Community College and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired as supervisor after 37 years from Avtex, Front Royal, where he was also the OSHA representative. He was a former light and heavy-duty instructor for the state and taught defensive driving. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Woodstock Rescue Squad and taught advanced first aid. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Woodstock, where he was a former board member and Sunday school superintendent.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Lester Miller.
Surviving are his wife, Arlena M. “Sad Sack” Miller; three sons, John D. “Bo” Miller Jr. and Danny W. “Boo-boo” Miller, both of Mount Jackson, and Gerald A. “Big Boy” Miller of Woodstock; daughter, Joan A. “Suzie-Q” Henry of Fulks Run; four sisters, Patricia Myers of Florida, Kitty Barrick of Edinburg, Bonnie Bowers of Woodstock and Doris Cook of Roanoke; three brothers, Donnie Miller of Wardensville, W.Va., Glenn Miller of Woodstock and Lyle Miller of Strasburg; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Thursday, Feb. 2, at Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock, by Pastors Jeremy Sullivan and Freeman Hamerick. Burial, with military honors, followed in Sunset View Memorial Gardens, Woodstock.

Alden Marion Neff
Alden Marion Neff, 82, of Woodstock, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Neff was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Woodstock, son of the late William and Cora Wilkins Neff. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from the Town of Woodstock.
Surviving are his wife, Levine Neff; two sons, Howard J. Neff of Bronx, N.Y. and Glenn S. Neff of Front Royal; two brothers, Floyd Neff and Lloyd Neff, both of Woodstock; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Friday, Feb. 3, at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, Woodstock, by Pastor Dave Casto with military honors by the Woodstock American Legion Post 199.

Stanley Rosclif Wampler
BRIDGEWATER – Stanley Rosclif Wampler, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Rev. Wampler was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Fishersville, son of the late Charles H. and Elsie Teter Wampler. He graduated from Port Republic High School in 1938, Bridgewater College in 1949 and Bethany Theological Seminary in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater 1944-1945.
After graduating from seminary, Rev. Wampler served a shared pastorate at Pleasant View and Walker’s Chapel, Mount Jackson and Wakeman’s Grove, Edinburg, 1951 and 1956. He served as district executive for the Church of the Brethren in the Shenandoah District from 1954 until his retirement in 1984.
After his retirement he was active in the Industrial Commercial Ministries and Hospital Chaplaincy programs. He also served on the Bridgewater Healthcare Foundation board.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mazie Kirby Wampler; two sons, Wayne Wampler and wife Sue and Jerry Wampler and wife Barbie; six granddaughters, Leigh Wampler Johnson and husband Paul, Katherine Ferranti, Angela Ferranti, Rachael Ferranti, Blair Wampler and Tarah Wampler; brother, Paul Wampler; and sister, Vivian Smith.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Wampler Ferranti.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 4, at First Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg.

Robert James Etter II
MOUNT JACKSON - Robert James Etter II, 60, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrison-burg.
Mr. Etter was born Feb. 18, 1945, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Robert James and Catherine Darnall Etter.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a procurement analyst for the U.S. government.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Dale Etter, two sons, Timothy A. Etter and Jonathan C. Etter, both of Mount Jackson; three sisters, Jane Sturgis of Exmore, Shirley Gorham of Culpeper and Josie Gorham of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a brother, James P. Etter of Fairfax and a grandson.
Father Leo Zonneveld will conduct a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Culpeper National cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson.

Betty Surface Bennett
THE PLAINS - Betty Surface Bennett, 55, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Bennett was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Leesburg, daughter of the late Adam Leon and Mary Lockhart Simpson.
Survivors include her lifetime partner, Ronald W. Bennett; two daughters, Eva A. Foster of Marshall and Terri L. Soaper of The Plains; two sons, Richard W. Surface Jr. of Culpeper and Aubrey L. Surface of Marshall; four sisters, Helen G. Sudduth of Middleburg, Hazel V. Tobin of Mount Jackson, Daisy E. Kirk and Joyce I. Deal, both of Marshall; four brothers, Ira W. Simpson of Edinburg, Clyde R. Simpson Sr. of Ocala, Fla., James A. Simpson and Roger A. Simpson, both of Marshall; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sherman F. Simpson, Verner L. Simpson and Fred B. Simpson; and two sisters, Danes S. Elswick and Dorothy L. Belcher.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Royston Funeral Home, Marshall, by Elder Daniel Simpson. Interment was in Middleburg Memorial cemetery.
