Kimberly Baker
VIENNA - Kimberly D. Baker, 72, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Reston Hospital.
Mr. Baker was born April 5, 1935, son of the late Cecil B. and Catherine Palmer Baker. He retired as a lieutenant from the Fairfax County Police Department after 26 years. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard and had been employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Winged Camera Service. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, and Committee for Helping Others and Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are his wife, Mary D. Baker; son, the Rev. Dr. K. Drew Baker; sister, Betty Baker Oliver Cooley of Edinburg.
The funeral service was conducted Thursday, Oct. 4, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna. Burial was private.

Pauline Coffman
WOODSTOCK - Pauline Marie Sibert Coffman, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
Mrs. Coffman was born Sept. 27, 1917, daughter of the late John Wesley and Naomi Frances Palmer Sibert. She was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, which she attended for 77 years. She was the wife of the late Marvin Edward Coffman.
Surviving are two sons, Joe Coffman and Wayne Coffman, both of Strasburg; daughter, Marsha Coffman Allemong of Bonita Springs, Fla.; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild.
A grandson is deceased.
A funeral service was conducted Friday, Oct. 5, at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, by the Rev. William Erbach Sr. Burial was in Riverview cemetery, Strasburg.

Jay Dodson
MOUNT JACKSON - Jay W. Dodson, 80, beloved husband, son, brother, and uncle, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock. His wife of 57 years, Lucille Spiker Dodson, was by his side when he passed away.
Mr. Dodson was born Jan. 21, 1927, at the Conicville home of Caleb F. and Mary Catherine Dellinger, his maternal grandparent. He was the son of the late J. Paul and Ora D. Dodson. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. For nearly 60 years, since 1948, he was a member of Mount Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 103, A.F. & A.M., and a member of Muhlenberg Post 199 of the American Legion in Woodstock. He farmed, worked for the Mason Dixon Lines and Hepner Brothers and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation as the Edinburg equipment supervisor. He was well known as a master craftsman of fine, solid hardwood furniture. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Conicville.
In addition to his wife surviving are siblings, Vivian Dodson Thomas of Richmond, Jack Franklin Dodson of Readus, Dot Dodson Baker and Jane Dodson Perry, both of Conicville.
The Rev. John Ware will officiate a private graveside service, with Masonic rites by the Mount Jackson Lodge No. 103 A.F. & A.M. and military honors by Muhlenberg Post 199 American Legion, at Christ United Church of Christ cemetery in Conicville.

Roy Garrett Sr.
WINCHESTER - Roy Eugene Garrett Sr., 59, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at his residence.
Mr. Garrett was born March 31, 1948, son of the late Edmond and Eloise Garrett. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Woodstock. He was an employee of Chemstone Corporation in Strasburg and a Club Scout leader for Pack 333.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Garrett; two stepsons, Sean Dempsey and Samuel Dempsey, both of Winchester; his children, Desiree Smith of Strasburg, Bobbie Rivera and Linda Garrett, both of Richwood, W.Va., Tina Dobson of Muddlety, W.Va., Christy Hall of Craigsville, W.Va., Roy E. Garrett Jr. of Strasburg; and sisters, Sue Conard of Nettie, W.Va., and Anita Blankenship of Roanoke.
A funeral service was conducted Monday, Oct. 8, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Woodstock, by President Dennis Gorton. A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Garrett-Taylor family cemetery, Finwick Mountain, W.Va.
John Hockman
STRASBURG - John Wesley Hockman, 77, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at his home.
Mr. Hockman was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Strasburg, son of the late Hugh Harrison and Lucy Mae Ryman Hockman. He was a 1947 graduate of Strasburg High School and a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church. He was founder and president of Hockman Farms Partnership and charter member of the North Shenandoah Ruritan Club in Lebanon Church. He began working at the Farmers Livestock Exchange in Winchester 60 years ago, serving on the board of directors and as president for the last 20 years. He was well known for having played area baseball for over 25 years.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Patsy Bly Hockman, whom he married
in Strasburg on June 14, 1952; two sons, Roger L. Hockman and wife Ruth and Wesley A. Hockman and friend Melinda Sparacio, all of Strasburg; daughter, Brandi Hockman Estep and husband Tom of Strasburg; son -in-law, Jerry Fishel of Star Tannery; five sisters, Martha Pangle, Mary Artz and Nancy Beeler, all of Strasburg, Betty Williams of Middletown, Md. and Emma Conner of Stephens City; six grandchildren, Chris Hockman and wife Julie, Crystal Robinson and husband Jeremy, Michelle Dellinger and husband Andrew, Joseph Hockman, Madison Estep and Reese Estep; three great-grandchildren, Lexus Hockman, Tessa Hockman and Regan Robinson.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Tamela D. 'Tammy' Fishel; grandchild, Michael Fishel; two brothers; and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Lebanon Lutheran Church with the Rev. P. Lee Brumback officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Keller, Scott Stickley, Ronald Sager, Robbie Parks, Kelly Miller and Billy Hockman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Pence, P.D. Mowery Jr., Phil Stickley, Roy Pangle, H.C. Pangle and Steve Wymer.

Fred Hottle Jr.
HAINES CITY, FLA. - Fred Hottle Jr., 58, formerly of Capon Springs, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Fla.
Mr. Hottle was born Dec. 30, 1948, in Winchester, son of Fred and Naomi Anderson Hottle. He was an orchardist.
Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey Hottle of Oklahoma, Larry Hottle of North Carolina and Rodney Hottle of Winchester; daughter, Diane Hottle of Winchester; two brothers, Leonard Hottle of Rogersville, Tenn., and William Hottle of Star Tannery; five sisters, Geraldine Orndorff and Wilma Lee Hottle, both of Strasburg, Louise Hottle of Fairfield, Lois Lewis of Georgia and Connie Clifton of Stephens City; and 12 grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Friday, Oct. 5, at Hebron Lutheran Church near Yellow Spring, W.Va., by the Rev. Michael Funkhouser. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Frederick McFarland Sr.
STEPHENS CITY - Frederick Garland McFarland Sr., 71, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, in the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.
Mr. McFarland was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Strasburg, son of Ernest Lee and Mildred P. Stottlemyer McFarland. He was a truck driver for Bonnie Motor Freight. He had retired from All Freight in Winchester and had served as a police officer in Middletown. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, Winchester Moose Lodge, Stephens City Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 824, and American Legion Post 077 in Strasburg. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1954-58 during the Korean Conflict. He was a flight engineer on a B-45 bomber.
Surviving are a son, Frederick G. McFarland Jr. of Winchester; three daughters, Mildred Lauck of Stephens City, Sherry Krippner of Fernley, Nev., and Bonnie Keller of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Jaycee Hubbard of Lorton; four sisters, Ruth Coyle of Columbus, Ind., Jackie Hubbard of Lorton, Irene Kramer of Indianapolis and Jeanette Smith of Tacoma Park, Md.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Lee McFarland Sr.; and five sisters, Annebelle Carper, Leona Poolman, Hilda Baker, Floey Shank and Indus Houser.
A funeral service was conducted Saturday, Oct. 6, at Macedonia United Methodist Church, Stephens City, by the Revs. Jason Duley and Paul Campbell. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors accorded by Winchester Post 2123 Honor Guard.

Romayne F. Broyles
Romayne Finnell (Gadaz) Broyles, 60, of Luray, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at her residence.
The Rev. Chris Walker will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery in Luray.

Isabel P. Hinkle
Isabel P. Hinkle went to be with the Lord Oct. 4, 2011, after a short illness at the home of her daughter, Gloria Hayes, in Craigsville, Va.
She was born March 19, 1921, in Oakville, Pa., to Kathryn Cramer Mohn and Roy Mohn.
She graduated from Newville High School in 1939. During her high school years and after graduation, she worked in a general merchandise store as a clerk and bookkeeper. At the age of 18, Isabel was a Sunday school superintendent, pianist and Christian Endeavor leader of her church, thus beginning her life’s work of service for the Lord.
Isabel married
Carl Hinkle Sr. in January of 1942. After World War II, they moved to Huntington, Ind., where her husband attended Huntington College and Seminary.
In 1951, they moved to Mount Solon, Va., where her husband pastored Mount Oliver United Brethren Church and Jerusalem Chapel in September 1959. They moved to Staunton and started Fifth Street United Brethren Church. Isabel served as pianist/organist and Sunday school teacher until her retirement in 1984. During their time in Mount Solon, Isabel was employed at the Metro Pants factory in Bridgewater and Harrisonburg.
In 1961, she owned and operated the Gospel Supply House in Staunton for a number of years. She continued her work there even after selling the store. Ultimately, she retired from Brandt’s Christian Bookstore in 1989.
The Rev. and Mrs. Hinkle opened their home and hearts to many people during the years of their ministry. Among these, they had two foster sons, Tony Trayer and Jimmy Smith.
Isabel was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Carl V. Hinkle Sr.; her parents, Roy and Kathryn Mohn; her brother, Glen Mohn; infant twin granddaughters and foster son, Tony Trayer.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Doris Mohn. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Carl and Barbara Hinkle of Swoope, Gloria and Bobby Hayes of Swoope, Judy and Donnie Simmons of Staunton, Gary and Bonnie Hinkle of The Villages, Fla.; and a foster son, Jimmy and Linda Smith of Crimora; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Since January of 2010, Isabel had been living and cared for by many family members and friends with special thanks going to Gloria Hayes, Judy Simmons, Gary and Bonnie Hinkle and granddaughter, Kathy Quick.
A funeral service and burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Zion United Church of Christ in Newburg, Pa.
A celebration of life service will be held at Fifth Street United Brethren Church Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at 6 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Harry Moore and the Rev. Derry Norman. The family will receive friends following the service.

Carol Osmulski
LINDEN - Carol Jean Osmulski, 61, passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at her home.
Mrs. Osmulski was born Dec. 26, 1945, in Elizabeth, N.J., daughter of the late Alfred Oppel Sr. and Catherine Grassle Oppel.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley Bruce Osmulski of Linden; two daughters, Denise Stickle of Chester Gap and Catherine Stickle of New Market; one brother, Alfred Oppel Jr. of Union, N.J.; and four grandchildren, Kevin Stickle and Caitlin Stickle, both of Chester Gap and Michael Stickle and Joshua Stickle, both of New Market.
A memorial service was conducted Oct. 6, at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.

Thomas Lee Breeden, 83, of Luray, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at MontVue Nursing Home in Luray.

Martha Sibert
GAITHERSBURG, MD. - Martha M. Sibert passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007. Her death follows three years of jovial courage and strength for the treatment of breast cancer and colo-rectal cancer.
Ms. Sibert was the daughter of the late David W. Sibert and Dorthy Rush Sibert. She was a 1968 graduate of Strasburg High School. She retired in April after 20 years of service as chief of active duty pay section in the compensation branch of the U.S. Public Health Care, Commissioned Corps. Of the many outstanding performance awards that she received throughout her 37 years of U.S. government service, she remained proud of the press release of her employee suggestion for improving operational efficiency which was adopted by the U.S. Public Health Service. In addition to her government career, she was a highly successful businesswoman. She enjoy many travels that included her favorites of Germany, Italy, France, Ireland and Hawaii. She devoted 10 years of service feeding the homeless of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Md., and was especially proud of her blue ribbon apple pie at Montgomery County Maryland Fair.
She was the beloved sister of William L. and Alpha Sibert of Fishers Hill, Gloria and Farn Zirkle of Mount Jackson, Richard and Connie Sibert of Keezletown, and Vergie Mose of
Gaithersburg, Md. She was the aunt of nine nephews, William, Christopher, Wade and Dobie Sibert, David and Stacy Zirkle, Richard, Michael and Brian Mose; great-aunt of Christopher and Amiee Lambert, Jared Sibert and Levi Zirkle; and devoted friend of Joseph D. Grous.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Natalie R. Mose.
A memorial service was conducted Sunday, Oct. 7, at Pumphrey's Funeral Home, Rockville, Md. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Saint Stephens cemetery, Strasburg.
