Gary L. Plunkett

Gary Lee Plunkett, 63, of Fulks Run, VA died April 7, 2013 at Fairfax Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1949 in Ludlowville, NY, and was the son of the late James Henry and Cleo Golden Plunkett.
He worked for P & C Bank in New Jersey before retiring. He was a member of Broadway Lions Club, and a Master Mason at Harrisonburg Masonic Lodge. He volunteered at Toys for Tots, and Miracle Children’s Network. He was an avid gardner.
On October 28, 2004 he married
the former Dianne Williams, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Garret L. Plunkett of New York City, NY; one daughter, Katelyn Marie Plunkett of Archibald, PA; two deceased sisters, Beverly Plunkett, Lila Plunkett.
Pastor Randy Kiel will conduct a funeral service 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Grandle Funeral Home chapel in Broadway.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Allen Medford 'Knocker' Custer
QUICKSBURG - Allen Medford “Knocker” Custer, 58, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Custer was born on Aug. 25, 1950, in Rockingham County, and was the son of Victorene Virginia Runion Custer of Quicksburg and the late Tom Medford Custer. He was a former employee of Bryce Resort for 41 years. He attended Brighter Days Bible Church in Mount Jackson.
He is survived by his wife Linda C. Custer whom he married
Dec. 31, 1971; two daughters, Connie L. McDonaldson of Fulks Run and Allison Haggerty of New Market; a son, Jason Custer of Timberville; two sisters Carolyn S. Schwartz of Lakeland, Fla. and Vicki R. Holler of Maurertown; three brothers, Kenneth E. Custer of Bloomfield Mo., Charles C. Custer of Mount Jackson and Steven F. Custer of New Market; and one grandchild, Jonathan T. Montz.
A funeral service was conducted Thursday, July 9, at Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson with the Rev. Larry Rinard officiating.
Burial was in Mount Jackson cemetery.

Patricia Ann Dellinger
TOMS BROOK - Patricia Ann Dellinger, 60, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Dellinger was born on Aug. 23, 1948, in Shenandoah County and was the daughter of the late Aubrey Eugene and Ella Louise Smith Funk. She was a former employee of the Lear Corporation in Strasburg where she worked as a press operator.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy L. Hottle and husband, Jim; step children, Virginia Ann Ryan of Woodstock, Harold Lee Dellinger, Jr. of Spartanburg, S.C., Brenda Sue Nichols of Gulfport, Miss., Robert Berlin Dellinger of Woodstock, and Vivian Gay Raja of Manassas; her sister, Elsie Elizabeth Pence of Middletown; her brothers, Robert Larry Steward of Middletown, Charles Allen Smith of Culpeper, and Richard Harris Robinson of Texas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of Mrs. Dellinger she will be cremated.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Dellinger, Sr., a son, Henry Roger Rose, Jr. and two brothers, James Lee Steward and Garland Eugene Steward.

Izetta Lou Snider Eye
STRASBURG - Izetta Lou Snider Eye, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Edinburg.
Mrs. Eye was born on Sept. 16, 1924, in W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Marion Frank and Violet P. Miller Snider. She was retired from Strasburg Manufacturing as a seamstress and was a member of Strasburg Presbyterian Church. She was the wife of the late Neufer Moulton Eye.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Diane Mumaw and husband, Ray of Edinburg, Sara Jane Richard and husband, Ronnie of Toms Brook, Patricia Dolly Robinson and husband, Marshall of Woodstock and Lisa Ann Pangle and husband, Dwight of Strasburg; daughter-in-law, Jane Eye of W.Va.; a sister, Ruth Orebaugh of Broadway; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Snider Eye; a sister, Betsy Wilkins; a brother, Marion Snider; and a granddaughter, Britney Pangle.
A funeral service was conducted Monday, July 13, at Strasburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Howard officiating.
Burial was in Panorama Memorial Gardens in Warren County.

Louis Shelton Fritts
WOODSTOCK - Louis Shelton Fritts, 83, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Fritts was born on Feb. 15, 1926, in Grass Valley, Ore. and was the son of the late Joseph S. and Edna Shadowitz Fritts. He was a Union carpenter.
He is survived by five daughters, Donna Atland of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dixie Richardson of Culpeper, Darlene Hood of Manassas, Dawn Teates of Leesburg, Deborah Lunsford of Marshall; three sons David Fritts of Grass Valley, Ore., Daniel Fritts of Front Royal, Douglas Fritts of Star Tannery; sister Vivian Todd of Grass Valley, Ore.; brothers Edward Fritts, Scott Fritts, Doran Fritts all of Grass Valley, Ore.; 31 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna M. Fritts.
A graveside service was conducted by family members on Tuesday July 14, at Bethel Lutheran Church cemetery in Edinburg.

Norman E. Markley
FAIRFAX COUNTY - Norman E. Markley, 83, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2009, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was surrounded by his daughters.
Mr. Markley was born on Oct. 10, 1925, in Shenandoah County and was the son of the late John and May Lillie Markley. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances Mumaw Markley. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran. He was a small business owner at one time and retired from the U.S. Government after 30 years of service. He was a member of Greenbrier Baptist Church and the Falls Church American Legion.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Anderson Amos of Ellisville, Miss., and Linda Clark and late Wayne of Nokesville; grandchildren Markley Anderson and Jackie of St. George, Joseph Clark of Gainesville, Robby Clark and Isabel of Charlottesville, and Amanda Milliams and Terry or Petal, Miss. He is also survived by a brother, Carroll Markley of Reston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Louise Wilkins; brothers Boyd, Moorman, Glenn and John Markley.
A funeral service by his longtime pastor Rev. Finney Williams was conducted June 27, at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home.
Interment was in Fairfax Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Ova June Mullins
STRASBURG - Ova June Mullins, 89, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2009, at her home.
Mrs. Mullins was a charter member of Hope Free Will Baptist Church of Front Royal, a former member of Meadow Brook Free Will Baptist Church, Middletown and former member of Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Pound.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Ann Stidhan and husband Roy of Manassas, Ina Jean Dotson of Strasburg, and Josephine Stanley Adams and husband Willie of Strasburg; one son, George Russell Stanley and wife Sharon of Manassas; one sister, Pauline Holliday of Zenia, Ohio; five brothers, Newton Cantrell and wife Murial of Pound, William Lyn Cantrell of Pound; Ronnie Cantrell and wife Mary Lois of Zenia, Ohio; Richard Cantrell and wife Sandy of Jamestown, Ohio and Tobby Carl Cantrell and wife Kay of Luray; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nine stepchildren, Acie A. “Mickey” Mullins and wife Star, Jonah Mullins and wife Barbara, Marlene Swanson and husband Ricky, Rebecca Boggs and husband Cleatus, Shirley Fleming and husband Mitchell, Judy Dingus and husband Randy, Thurman A. Mullins, Jr. and wife Rhonda, Martha Kiser and husband Bobby, Tony Mullins and wife Tina; two step grandchildren, Eddie Mullins and wife Lou, Prezada Adams and husband Timmy; 26 step grandchildren; 38 step great-grandchildren; and eight great-great step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband George Chester Stanley; and her second husband Thurman A. Mullins; one stepson, Jerry Mullins; and a sister, Cotella Boggs.
A funeral service was conduced Sunday, July 12, at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, in Manassas, with Pastors Lester Horton and Randy Hayes officiating.
Interment was in Stanley cemetery, Clintwood, Va.

Earl Allen Strickler
(February 2, 1920 - April 7, 2013)
Earl Allen Strickler, 93, of Broadway, died April 7, 2013 at his residence.
He was born February 2, 1920 in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Marshall W. and Lillie Shirkey Strickler.
He was a farmer and a member of Bethel Church of the Brethren in Mayland. He passed away peacefully with his niece, Anna, by his side.
On September 23, 1938 he married
the former Rosa L. Layman, who preceded him in death on July 5, 1988. He was also preceded in death by a daughter; Carlotta Crosby.
Surviving is a number of nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Pastor Kevin Gerber will conduct a funeral service Thursday 11 AM at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

John David Glick
(July 13, 1962 - April 9, 2013)
John David Glick, 50, of Timberville, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at his childhood home in Broadway, currently owned by his sister.
He was born, July 13, 1962 in Harrisonburg, the son of the late Dr. John T. Glick, Jr. and Geraldine Zigler Glick of Broadway, VA.
John is survived by two sons, Joshua Michael Glick, age 8, and David Mathew Glick, age 6, of New Market; one brother, Michael Zigler Glick and wife Debbie of Columbiana, OH; three sisters, Judy Glick-Smith of Cumming, GA; Margaret Glick Davis and husband J.D. of Timberville, VA; and Joan Glick Strawderman and husband Steve of Broadway, VA; a brother-in-law Rick Hill of Atlanta, GA; four nieces, five nephews and five great nieces. He was preceded in death by one sister, Amy Glick Hill.
John was plagued with health problems his whole life, but was always a happy-go-lucky guy with a big smile and an even bigger heart. He had a passion for swimming and fishing. During his younger healthiest years he excelled in snow skiing, bowling and golf. He became a brick and block mason and eventually co-owned his own drywall business before he became permanently disabled due to end-stage renal failure. He dearly loved his boys and enjoyed watching them grow.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren Helping Hand Fund at 409 Brethren Road, Broadway, VA 22815.

NEW MARKET - Mary Louise Richmond, 71, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009, at her home.
A funeral service was conducted Thursday, July 7, at Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson.
Joseph Rihl Tomlinson
PENN LAIRD - Joseph Rihl Tomlinson, 78, formerly of Fort Valley passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Willow Estates Retirement Home. Mr. Tomlinson was born on Dec. 29, 1930, in Chester County, Pa., and was the son of the late Malcolm and Margaret Tomlinson. He retired from the federal government as an accountant. He was actively involved with the St. Vincent De Paul outreach program of the church which assisted the underprivileged. He was known for helping others and volunteered at the senior citizens center where he assisted with the martial arts program. He enjoyed fishing, sailing and reading his extensive book collection.
He is survived by a nephew, Jeff Tomlinson; niece, Leslie Tomlinson; caretakers, Vernon and Gladys Graber; and friends in the Fort Valley and Willow Estates Communities.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois R. Tomlinson, and a brother, John Tomlinson.
A memorial service was conducted Friday, July 10, at Willow Estates in Penn Laird, by Pastor Richard Gullman.
