Mary Catherine Johnson Edwards, 85, of Lindenwald, NJ. died April 21, 2013. She was born October 9, 1927 in Hershey PA. and moved with her family to Rockingham Co. as a child. She was a daughter of the late Melvin M., Sr. and Ruby Good Johnson. In 1947 she married
Julius C. Edwards, who preceded her in death. She is survived by five children, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Ann L. Grandle and Linda L. Crider both of Broadway; Janie J. Gallaher of Caruthers, Calif.; one brother, Jon Snyder of Hammonton,NJ.; brother-in-law, Walter M. Cootes of Nashville TN. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Nancy J. Cootes and Doris Jean Luff; three brothers; Melvin M Johnson Jr., Roy Lee Johnson and Charles A. Johnson. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Bethel Christian Center in Blackwood NJ. The family requests flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s own choice.
Horace McNery Fields, Jr.
WOODSTOCK - Horace McNery Fields, Jr., 61, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009.
Mr. Fields was born on July 4, 1948, in Woodstock, and was the son of the late Horace McNery Fields, Sr. and Rosanna Scott Fields. He was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Fields of Woodstock; a son, Adrian Fields of Woodstock; a sister, Cynthia Brunson of Bishopsville, S.C.; four brothers, Robert Fields, Larry Fields, Richard Fields, and John Fields, all of Woodstock; three grandchildren, Brianna, Emily and Fallon; a Godson, Edward J. Williams; host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 23, at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.
Burial was in Riverview cemetery in Woodstock.
Goldie Myers Runion
(April 13, 1917 - April 17, 2013)
Goldie Myers Runion, 96, of Timberville, VA died April 17, 2013 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 13, 1917 in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Harve Myers and Millie Turner Myers Carr.
She was a seamstress at Sancar Corp. in Harrisonburg and had worked at the Broadway Laundromat before retiring. She was a member o Mt. Carmel United Brethren in Christ Church in Fulks Run. She was a charter member of the Archaeological Study of Virginia.
On April 4, 1942 she married
Stanley R. Runion, who preceded her in death March 19, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane R. Tusing of Harrisonburg, Janice F. Biller of Broadway; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Pastor Gary Boston will conduct a funeral service 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Mt. Carmel U.B.C. Church. Burial will be in the Mtn. Grove cemetery in Fulks Run.
Friends may call anytime at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

SOUTH CAROLINA - Althea B. German, 94, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Life Care Nursing Home, Hilton Head Island, S.C.
A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Panorama Memorial Gardens in Strasburg.

Martha Rebecca Orebaugh Runion

Martha Rebecca Orebaugh Runion, 82, of Broadway, died April 6, 2013 at Bridgewater Home.
She was born October 20, 1930 in Timberville and was a daughter of the late Saylor and Jennie Gordon Orebaugh.
She was a homemaker and member of Mountain Grove Church of the Brethren in Fulks Run.
On September 7, 1946 she married
Otis Franklin Runion, who preceded her in death on December 28, 2006.
She is survived by a son; Delmas “Pete” Runion and wife Bonnie, of Broadway, two daughters; Deborah R. Fadley and husband Wayne, of Broadway, Donna J. Hinkle and husband Weldon “Chuck”, of Fulks Run, two grandchildren; Kara Fadley Hulver and husband Ryan, of Timberville, Ashton Fadley and fiancé Nicky Bassford, of Broadway, two great granddaughters; Lauren and Leah Hulver, a brother; Robert “Bud” Orebaugh and wife Wyoma, of Broadway, and three sisters; Mary Whitmer, of Harrisonburg, Hilda Mitchell and husband Robert, of Fulks Run, Shirley Whetzel, of Broadway.
Jerry Shiflet will conduct a funeral service Wednesday 11 AM at Mountain Grove Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30-8 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
Clyde Glenn Henning
STAR TANNERY - Clyde Glenn Henning, 88, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock.
Mr. Henning was born in 1921, in Stephens City, and was the son of Arthur and Carrie Henning. He married
Mary Lucille Lee on Nov. 16, 1944, in Washington, D.C. They have been married
64 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant. He was a survivor of the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. He worked as a cartographer for the U.S. Air Force in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1970. He then worked for Safeway in Falls Church, until retiring in 1981. He was a member of Gravel Springs Lutheran Church in Star Tannery.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Patricia Ann Henning of Maurertown, and Linda Lee Contreras, and husband, Rene, of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, July 22, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Lance Braun officiating.
Interment was in Shenandoah Memorial Park with military honors conducted by VFW Post No. 2123.

Helen Lorraine Fisher
(July 15, 1924 - June 26, 2011)
Helen Lorraine Zimmerman Fisher, 86, of Bridgewater, passed away on June 26, 2011 at her home.
Helen was born in Rockingham County on July 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary Miller Cootes.
She lived in the Mid. West most of her life, before moving back to the Valley in 1985. Upon returning to the Valley, she worked as a certified nurse’s assistant until her retirement, and was a charter member of Victory Fellowship Church.
On May 30, 1992 Helen married
Jack Dempsey Fisher, who survives.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two grandsons, Todd J. Zimmerman of Bollingham, WA; and Ian Zimmerman of Harrisonburg; a sister, Millicent Logan of Harrisonburg; and a brother, Walter Cootes of Nashville, TN.
Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Zimmerman, in August 1983. She is also preceded in death by a son, Randolph (Randy) Val Zimmerman, December 2005; and a daughter Marla Kay Zimmerman Giordono, May 2009; a sister, Catherine Smith; and a brother, John Cootes.
At Mrs. Fisher’s request, she will be cremated.
The family will receive friends Tuesday June 28, 2011 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service Chapel.
Burial will be private at Oaklawn cemetery Bridgewater.

Emory Allen Ritenour
HEDGESVILLE - Emory Allen Ritenour, 60, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at City Hospital.
Mr. Ritenour was born on Jan. 6, 1949, in Strasburg, and was the son of the late Roy A. Ritenour and Winefred M. Stinson Ritenour.
He is survived by two brothers; Marcus and Winston Ritenour, of Strasburg; two sisters, Alma Jenkins, of Strasburg and Janetta Hepner, of Manassas.
A graveside service was be held on Tuesday, July 7, at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas.

Janet Dawn Wilson
STRASBURG - Janet Dawn Wilson, 74, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Consulate Health Care.
Mrs. Wilson was born on Nov. 30, 1934, in Mathias, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Alston and Mary Delawder Williams. She was married
to the late Allen Lee Wilson.
She is survived by two sons, Larry A. Wilson of Va. and Roger L. Wilson of Durham, N.C.; three daughters, Wanda Hildreth of Fairfax, Melinda Norton of Lynchburg, and Christie W. Boyce of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Ordale Williams of Everett, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Monday, July 20, at Heishman Family cemetery in Wardensville, W.Va. by the Rev. Ben Murray.
Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock was in charge of arrangements.
Charles Wesley Baker
QUICKSBURG - Charles Wesley Baker, 69, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Baker was born on Aug. 29, 1939, in Covington, and was the son of the late Albra and Irene Bowling Baker. He was a millwright at Local No. 1831-1548 in Baltimore, Md. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961. He was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, where he served as a moderator and trustee. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 166 in New Market and Masonic Lodge No. 77 in Monroe, W.Va. On Aug. 27, 1986, he married
the former Patricia Lohr who survives.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon L. Harrison of Elkton; a son, Douglas Harrison and wife Melissa of Broadway; a brother, Arden Baker of Sweet Springs, W.Va.; two sisters, Jean White of Charlotte, N.C., Phyllis Maddox of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters, Emily Lam, Jessica Harrison.
A memorial service was conducted Sunday, July 12, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ by the Rev. Robert Edwards and George Nickels. Burial was in Emmanuel cemetery in New Market and was private.

WOODSTOCK - Willard E. Catlett, 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
A graveside service was conducted July 1, at United Church of Christ cemetery in Mount Jackson.

William Randolph Cook
STRASBURG - William Randolph Cook, 36, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Frederick County.
Mr. Cook was born on Dec. 5, 1972, in Manassas, and was the son of Jennings Cook of Strasburg and the late Frances Pearl Cassell Cook. He was employed as assistant crew leader at R.R. Donnelley, Strasburg and a member of Strasburg Moose Lodge No. 403.
He is survived by his father; two sisters, Melissa Cook Jones and Theresa Cook, both of Strasburg; two nephews, Tyrese Cook and Anthony Cook; three nieces, Destiny Jones, Jasmine Cook and Zanna Jones.
A funeral service was conducted Saturday, July 11, at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg with the Rev. Perry Waters officiating.
Burial was in Gravel Springs cemetery in Frederick County.
