Billy Mac Fisher
The Rev. Billy Mac Fisher, 62, of Route 3, Wytheville, the Piney Community, died Monday, March 29, 1999, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1, at 2 p.m. at the Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bobby Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion cemetery. American Legion Post 9 will conduct graveside military rites.
He was born in Wythe County, a son of the late Robert and Ruby Harmon Fisher. He was a member of Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the Appalachian Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as pastor of the Rural Retreat Pentecostal Holiness Church, Hill Top Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pulaski and Snowville Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was licensed in 1974 and ordained in 1976. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Korea and a retired employee of the New Jersey Zinc Company.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy Coleman Fisher of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dewey and Lorene Fisher of Wytheville, and Barry and Pam Fisher of Max Meadows; two granddaughters, Malinda Fisher and Kristin Fisher; three step-grandsons; one step-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Balaire Powell of Ohio, Ruth Arnold and Lillie Slate, both of Wytheville; two brothers, Dallas Fisher of Texas, and McKinley Fisher of Max Meadows; special friends, Geneva and Kathy Roberts, Elbert Jones, Reed Fisher, and Elvia and Ram Dunford; and a special niece, Sherri Stafford.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 31, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Home or at the residence at any time.

Lillian Coulson Jennings, 84, of Austinville, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Waddell Nursing Home in Galax.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Jack King and Jimmy Canup officiating. Interment was in the Thomas Beasley cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elsie and Sam Ryan of Austinville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Gloria Jennings of Cary, N.C., Montie and Carolyn Jennings of Bastian, Garland and Linda Jennings of Austinville, and Joseph Glen and Jean Jennings of Hillsville; a brother, James Coulson of Max Meadows; two sisters, Mittie Bowman and Vergie Stone, both of Austinville; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Retired MSG. Alden Welford Miller Jr., 77, of Max Meadows, the Graham's Forge Community, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at his home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Fogus officiating. Interment followed in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery. American Legion Post 9 conducted graveside military rites.
He was born in New Port, N.Y., a son of the late Alden W. Sr. and Emily Guller Miller. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years and was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was a member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret C. Miller of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Stephen Hanna of Baltimore, Md.; one son, Terry Miller of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Carolyn Heins of Monticello, N.Y., and Nancy McLarney of Smallwood, N.Y.; three brothers, Robert Miller and Stewart Miller, both of Florida, and Edward Miller of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.

Gilbert Wesley Nicholson, 70, of Crigger Road in Rural Retreat, died Friday, March 26, 1999, in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
Funeral services were private.
He was born in Versoilles, Ky., a son of the late Gene and Susan McIntosh Nicholson. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by a daughter, Tamri Jean Nicholson of Arizona; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley Allen and Janet Nicholson of Tehachapi, Calif., and David Wayne and Johanna Whalen Nicholson of Rural Retreat; two sisters, Ruth Whalen of Texas and Joyce Nicholson of Illinois; four brothers, Charles Nicholson of Tehachapi, Calif., Gene "Sonny" Nicholson of Locust Grove, Ore., Johnny Nicholson and Jerry Nicholson, both of Lexington, Ky.; and 13 grandchildren.

Thelma Fisher Phillippi, 99, of Rural Retreat, the Cedar Springs Community, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, in Evansham Manor in Wytheville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Perkins officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
She was born in Wythe County, a daughter of the late William H. and Serena Phillippe Fisher. She was a retired teacher with the Wythe County School system, a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and U.M.W., and a former member of the Rural Retreat Senior Citizens. She was a correspondent for the Cedar Springs Community in the Southwest Virginia Enterprise for 30 to 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlo P. Phillippi; three sisters, Anna Ruth Fisher, Nancy Mozelle F. Stroud and Bertye Jane Fisher; two brothers, Charles King Fisher and William Ryburn Fisher; one half brother, Ellis M. Fisher; one niece, Donna Jean F. Mitchell; one half niece, Bessie F. Bowers; and one half nephew, W. Dale Fisher.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Molena S. Fisher of Wytheville; two nieces, Peggy Joyce F. Wojekoski of Wytheville, and Frances F. Manfredo of Fresno, Calif.; one half niece and spouse, Maxine F. and Paul Humphreys of Rural Retreat; two nephews and spouses, Charles K. Jr. and Roberta Fisher of Carmichael, Calif., and W. Douglass and Betty Fisher of Hayden Lake, Idaho; three half nephews and spouse, Arleigh Steele Fisher of Wytheville, Shaylor W. Fisher of Monterey, Tenn., and Dr. E. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late James and Hannah Pearman. She attended Poplar Camp Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar F. Seagraves, who is at Edgemont Center in Wytheville; one daughter, Wanda S. Lowman of Thomasville, N.C.; one brother, Thomas Pearman of Pulaski; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was born July 6, 1910, at Bastian, the daughter of the late Wiley W. and Effie Gray Kidd. She was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Hollybrook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Burke Bailey.

She was born in Bland County, a daughter of the late Walker Blair and Cornelia Ann Burkehead Pauley and was a member of the Bland United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah Dillow and Larry James Putnam of Harrisonburg, and Rachel Dawn Dillow of Wytheville; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Dillow of Princeton, W.Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Maryann and Gerald Runnels of Lufkin, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas W. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Grubb; and one daughter, Vivian Hale.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth Mills of Princeton, W.Va., and Louise and Walter Scott of Vinton; one sister, Mozelle G. She was born in Lodi, the daughter of the late George and Gertie Wills Moore. She was a member of the Rural Retreat Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Irby Moore and Ernest Moore.
Survivors include one brother, William M. "Bill" Moore of Mountain City, Tenn.; a niece, Mary Ann Walsh of Kingsport, Tenn.; and a nephew, Rick Moore of Mountain City, Tenn.
