Eugene "Gene" W. Puckett, 66, of Cumming, Ga., died Wednesday, July 1, 1998.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 4, at 3 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel in Cumming Ga. Interment will be in the Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
He was a native of Wythe County and had retired from Coca Cola Bottling after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Wade Puckett.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Hall Puckett of Cumming, Ga.; children, Peggy and Curtis Linn of Commerce, Ga., Rita and Tony Jinks of Acworth, Ga., Rickey and Teressa Puckett of Aragon, Ga., Mickey and Teresa Puckett of Cumming, Ga., Dorris and Jacky Nix of Pendergrass, Ga., and Morris and Trina Puckett of Dawsonville, Ga.; 26 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Puckett of Wytheville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Eula Louise Morrison Thomas
Eula Louise Morrison Thomas, 68, of Max Meadows, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 4, at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Allen Ashford officiating. Interment will be in the West End cemetery.
She was born in Wythe County, a daughter of the late Roncie P. and Eula Fisher Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Porter Thomas.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Sandy Thomas of Route 1, Max Meadows; a sister, Mrs. Andrew "Joyce" Cassell of Ceres; a brother, Roncie D. "Buddy" Morrison of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home, or at the residence of her son, Doug Thomas, at anytime.

Dewey F. "Slick" Cline Jr., 60, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at FirstHealth Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel in Southern Pines, N.C., with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating.
Born in Cripple Creek, he was a son of Dewey F. Cline Sr. and Ida Wright Cline. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a woodworker by profession.
He is survived by his wife, Ann P. Cline; a son, Charles B. Cline of Pearisburg; his mother, Ida W. Cline of Max Meadows; two brothers, Robert Cline of Fort Chiswell, and Frank Cline of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Ellen Mabe of Ohio, and Edna Fulton of Max Meadows; and one grandson.

Lucille Mills Copenhaver, 81, of Crockett, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Rance Edwards. Interment will be in the Kings Grove Church cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Andrew Bowman and Margaret Grubb Mills.
She is survived by her husband, John S. Copenhaver of Crockett; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patty Copenhaver and her fiancé, Dale Umberger, both of Max Meadows, and Barbara and Haywood Lantz of Marion; one sister, Josephine Cruise of Port Richey, Fla.; a granddaughter and her husband, Sherri and Larry Dunn of Roanoke; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Dunn.

James H. Edmonds Jr., 41, of Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Weaver's cemetery in Bristol, Tenn.
He was a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, and had made his home in the Bristol area for the past 28 years. He was a graduate of East High School, a member of the All-Star Track Team, a former employee of Flav-O-Rich, Inc., and a member of Weavers Union Church.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Bishop Edmonds; his mother, Mrs. James H. (Irene) Edmonds Sr. of Bristol, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. David (Joni) Stanley and Mrs. Steve (Judy) Wyatt, both of Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, Jerry Edmonds of Bristol, Tenn.; two nieces; six nephews; and several relatives of Wythe County.

George Edward "Pete" Gray, 64, of Crockett, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy G. Gray of Crockett; his son, William Michael Gray of Fort Chiswell; a grandson, Jon E. Stella Ruth Ceary Davidson, 80, of Rural Retreat, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Barry Losey officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Lutheran cemetery in Cripple Creek.
She was born in Cripple Creek, a daughter of the late Joseph Patrick and Stella Campbell Moore Ceary. She was a member of the Wytheville Baptist Church and a member of the Laura Harrison Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rivers de Laittre Davidson Sr.; and a daughter, Samuela Dare Davidson Smith.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Bill Campbell of Centreville, Tenn., Agnes Davidson and Thomas Croxton of Baltimore, Md., and Kathryn Snead and James Williams of Roanoke; one son, Rivers D. Davidson Jr. of Rural Retreat; three sisters, Cecile West and Pearl Woods, both of Rural Retreat, and Iris Cook of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pearl Lou Hall, 81, of Abingdon, formerly of Rural Retreat, died Friday, July 31, 1998, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service was held Monday, Aug. 3, at 3 p.m. at the Blue Springs United Methodist Church cemetery in Camp with the Rev. Michael Hoyle officiating.
She was born in Grayson County, a daughter of the late Haga Harrison and Flossie Jane Blevins Griffin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ruben Hall.
Survivors include four sisters, Ada Curtis and Katrina Bawgus, both of Johnson City, Tenn., Mary Faye Griffin of Elizabethon, Tenn., and Betty Jean Cox Edwards of Blountville, Tenn.; one brother, Roy David Griffin of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Peyton Anderson Barnett
Peyton Anderson Barnett, 79, of Marion, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Marion, with the Rev. Michael Glass and the Rev. Jim Pollack officiating. Interment followed in the West End cemetery in Wytheville.
He was born July 2, 1919, in Wytheville, a son of the late D. Lee and Ethel Anderson Barnett. He was raised in St. John's Episcopal Church in Wytheville and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. He was a graduate of the Fishburne Military Academy and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. In 1947, he and his wife, Nancy, moved to Marion to take over the Barnett's Funeral Home which was started in 1946 by his father. He served three consecutive terms on the Marion Town Council and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Johnny Sanders.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy W. Barnett of Marion; two daughters and son-in-law, Becky and Glenn Glass of Knoxville, Tenn., and Betsy Rouse of Dallas, Texas; one brother, D.L. Barnett of Wytheville; three grandsons and spouses, Lee B. and Tyra Sanders of Dallas, Texas, Glenn "Chip" Glass of Chicago, Ill., and the Rev. Michael Anderson and Charlotte Glass of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Curtis Stephen Blair, 70, of Route 3, Wytheville, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at 1 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Don Crockett and Jack King. Interment will be held in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Ivanhoe.
He was retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Delores "Sissy" and Harry Ayers of Wytheville; one son and daughter-in-law, Earnie and Susan Blair of Wytheville; three sisters, Juanita Williams of Richmond, Elizabeth King of Wytheville, and Easter Brammer of Bassett; two brothers, Herbert Blair of Max Meadows, and Clyde Blair of Ivanhoe; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Teddy Joe Burris
The Rev. Teddy Joe Burris, 63, of Independence, the Carsonville Community, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at his residence.
A graveside service was held Friday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Summerfield cemetery with the Rev. Richard Collins and the Rev. Gene Webb officiating.
Born Oct. 26, 1934 in Grayson County, he was the son of Sam C. and Pauline H. Lane Burris. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was also an evangelist for 41 years, serving all people and denominations in much of the U.S. and around the world.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Burris of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Bitha and E.J. Rector of Galax; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Inez Burris of Amelia, and Mickey and Elizabeth Burris of Fairfax; his father and mother, Sam C. and Pauline Burris of Route 1, Independence, the Carsonville Community; and five grandchildren, Darren Rector, Jamin Rector, Kimberly Paige Burris, Abby Burris, and Michael Burris.
