William Paul Ingram
William Paul Ingram, 85, of Bland died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Newberry Funeral Chapel in Bland with the Rev. Dale Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Morning Star cemetery in Bland.
He was born in Bland County, a son of the late Harmon and Sally Davis Ingram. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 87, Wytheville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Freddie Sadler, and Virginia Rakes; a brother, Leroy Ingram; and one granddaughter, Melissa Renea Ingram.
Survivors include his wife, Mary D. Ingram of Bland; a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Eugene Morgan of Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy W. "Buddy" and Joyce A. Ingram of Manassas; a sister-in-law, Allie H. Ingram of Bland; a grandson, David Kirby of Salem; two great-grandsons, Billy and Tony Kirby of Salem; two step-grandchildren, Teresa Czapp, and David Johnson, both of Manassas; and one step-great-granddaughter, Shara Czapp of Manassas.

Thomas Peilden Robbins, 91, of Sparta, N.C., died Monday, Oct. 21, 1996, in a Sparta hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Salem United Methodist Church cemetery, Independence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Robbins.
Survivors include three sisters and brother-in-law, Rosemond Bobbitt of Beltsville, Md., Virginia Robbins of Lineboro, Md., and Juanita and Gilmer Smythers of Galax; one brother and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Margaret Robbins of Independence; one nephew and three nieces.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Gillman Funeral Chapel, Wytheville.

Louise Steidley Sharitz, 90, of Asbury Center at Birdmont, Wytheville, died Friday, Oct. 18, 1996.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel at Asbury Center with Dr. Charles C. Burnett and Dr. William Rodgers officiating. Interment followed in St. John's cemetery.
She was born in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of the later Herbert J. and Bertha Lamoreaux Steidley. She was a retired banking public relations officer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert O. Sharitz; a sister, Dorothy Steidley; and two brothers, Tom Steidley and Herb Steidley.
Survivors include four nephews and wives, Thomas C. and Nina Steidley of Maitland, Fla., Richard A. and Hilde Steidley of Winter Park, Fla., Tom Butt of Columbia, S.C., and Hal Butt of Baton Rouge, La.; two nieces, Bonnie Cook of Charlotte, N.C., and Dorothy Sharitz Ward of Huntsville, Ala.; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John's cemetery Fund, c/o George Johnstone, 2605 N. 4th St., Wytheville, Va. 24382.

Vernon Kieffer Sharitz, 84, of Wytheville died Monday, Oct. 21, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. in the St. John's Lutheran cemetery conducted by the Rev. Dr. Charles Burnett.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church where she joined in 1927.
She is survived by her sisters, Afton R. Sharitz of Wytheville; and several cousins including, Kermit K. Riggle of Pulaski.

Peter Joseph Walsh, 59, of Route 1, Sugar Grove, (the Cedar Springs Community) died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Groseclose Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Dover-Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a retired sheet metal worker, Union Local No. 104 of San Francisco, Calif., and a member of the Circle of Friends Ruritan Club of Wytheville.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Patterson Walsh; one daughter, Marta Walsh of Alameda, Calif.; one son, Timothy Walsh of the home; one sister and brother-in-law, Anna Mae and Sam Toia of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service, at the Groseclose Chapel United Methodist Church. Following the services the family will receive friends at the home of Hazel Delorto.
The family requests that those who prefer, may make memorials to the building funds of the Cedar Springs United Methodist Circuit Churches.

Louise Christley Buchanan, 81, of Pulaski, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. at Barnett Funeral Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Mike Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the McGavock cemetery.
She was born in Max Meadows, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ollie Craddock Mabe Christley. She was a member of the Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Forest Buchanan; a son, Fred Lee Buchanan; and a sister, Florence Allison.
Survivors include six daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Bobby Viars of Thomasville, N.C., Barbara and Don Corvin of Route 4, Wytheville, Malinda and Tommy Sult of Baltimore, Md., Nancy and Ernest Johnson of Roanoke, Marjorie Vaught of Pulaski, Ollie and Earl Smith of Valdese, N.C.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel and Pam Buchanan of Max Meadows, Steven A. and Reta Buchanan of Route 2, Wytheville, Philip G. Buchanan, James and Deborah Buchanan, all of Route 4, Wytheville; one sister, Winnie Martin of Wytheville; 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Gussie Davidson Fagg, 68, of Pulaski, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, in the Winston-Salem, N.C., Baptist Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Pulaski with the Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Thorn Spring cemetery, Pulaski County.
She was born May 20, 1930, in Wythe County and was the daughter of the late Jasper Pierce and Mattie Safewright Davidson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ray Fagg Sr.
Survivors include one son, David Ray Fagg Jr. of Pulaski; three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Carolyn) White and Mrs. Roger (Brenda) Moore, both of Max Meadows, and Mrs. Gary (Linda) O'Dell of Pulaski; one sister, Mary Maxwell Ling of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Steve Davidson and Robert "Bob" Davidson, both of Pulaski; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jordan Elliott Hall Sr., 82, of Wytheville, formerly of Comers Rock, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Tony Holley and the Rev. Fred Jennings officiating. Interment followed in the Comers Rock cemetery.
After retiring from the Chrysler Corp. in Detroit, Mich., Hall and his wife moved to Wytheville from Sterling Heights, Mich., to be near their families. Shortly afterward, he began working as an agent for Grayson-Carroll-Wythe Insurance Company of Galax, retiring from there after 20 years because of illness.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Smith Hall of Wytheville; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Joe Sutherland of Elk Creek; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jordan Elliott Jr. and Rita Hall of Wytheville, and Cecil Gerald "Jerry" Hall of Burbank, Calif.; one sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Howard Beller of Leesburg, Fla.; a granddaughter, Susan Hall of Massachusetts; three grandsons, Mark Sutherland and Lyndon Sutherland, both of Elk Creek, and Artie Hall of Wytheville; and four great-grandchildren, Chad Sutherland, Cindy Sutherland, Lance Sutherland and Brittany Sutherland, all of Elk Creek.

Corbet Looney, 86, of Bastian, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, in the Kegley Manor Nursing Home in Bastian.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Green Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Allen Ashworth and the Rev. Lee McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow in the Bogle cemetery in Bastian.
He was born in Bastian, a son of the late Hickman and Vicie Stiltner Looney. He was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Chloe Kidd Looney; and a daughter, Glorena Rogers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bob Dunn of Beckley, W.Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dallas E. and Betty Looney of Bastian; eight grandsons and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was born in Round Bottom, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Linnie Kinser Wilson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joice Belcher Lilly.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph W. Belcher of the home; a son, Wilson Belcher; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

John Thomas Carter Sr., 86, of Wytheville, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. in the Grassy Spur Church of God, Bishop, conducted by the Rev. Carl Schrader. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour before service time.
He was a retired textile foreman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Brooks Carter.
Survivors include five daughters, Sally Marie Canter of Towson, Md., Victoria Lewis, Virginia Carol Dennis, Frances Peggy Brooks, all of Baltimore, Md., and Gwen Stella Clowers of Wytheville; four sons, John T. Carter Jr., Virgil F. Carter, both of Wytheville, Jackie Ray Carter of Baltimore, Md., and Bobby Wayne Carter of Towson, Md.; a sister-in-law, Helen Martin of Orlando, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her parents, James H. and Shirley Ann Marie Jones Davidson of Wytheville; one sister, Chanel Davidson of the home; maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Donald Lee Jones and Dreama Lou Wright of Wytheville; maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Shirley and Paul Hawkins of Alabama; godparents, Billy and Debbie Shoemaker of Rural Retreat, and Jennifer and James Hill of Barren Springs; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
