William H. Collins, 71, of Radford, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, Radford. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
He was born in Max Meadows on Sept. 23, 1926.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Collins; and a brother, Scott Collins.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Thomas Collins; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and William Wallace; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Mary Collins, and George Jennifer Collins; two grandsons, Michael Furr, and Andy Collins; two granddaughters, Sandra Carter and Mandy Collins; a great-grandson, Travis Carter; six step-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Rachael and Bob Davis of Max Meadows; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Lorraine Collins of Suffolk, Brady and June Collins of Radford, Sherman and Dawn Collins of Radford, Frank and Bobbie Collins of Jacksonville, Fla., and David and Doris Collins of Max Meadows; a sister-in-law, Grace Collins of Norfolk; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Linda Robinson Pugh, 50, of Bastian, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at her home.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. George W. Mowrey officiating. Burial followed in the Rose Lawn cemetery.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Woods.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Pugh Jr. of Bastian; two daughters, Melinda Smith of Flat Ridge, and Lisa Ball of Sugar Grove; three granddaughters, Ashley Meadows, Brittany Ball, and Allison Smith; her parents, Sam and Lorene Robinson of Marion; one sister, Dianna Brown of Radford; and one brother, Dickie Robinson of Dublin.

Eloise Kinser Stowers
Eloise Kinser Stowers, 79, of Route 1, Bastian, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, in a Bluefield hospital.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens cemetery in Princeton, W.Va. with the Rev. Brian Miller and the Rev. Phil Parker officiating.
Born Sept. 22, 1918, in Rocky Gap, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Stras Higgenbothom Kinser. She was a member of the Rocky Gap United Methodist Church and worked for the Bland County School Board as a teacher's aide for 18 years.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert A. Stowers of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet Stowers of Bland, and Gary and Deana Stowers of Bastian; three sisters, Nannie R. Tiller and Blanche Compton, both of Rocky Gap, and Eileen Wagner of Riner; one brother, H.M. Kinser of Bastian; and two grandchildren, Blake Stowers of Bastian and Stephanie Johnson of Bland.

Mildred Vaughan Archer, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 1996, in the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Andrew Arnold and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating.
She was a homemaker and was the widow of Frank S. Archer.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and John Brickey of Saltville, Shirley and Bill Gullion, and Debbie and Joe Rogers, all of Marion; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Juanita Archer of Christiansburg, Jerry and Dawn Archer of Atkins, and David and Suzanne Archer of Marion; one sister, Eula V. Arnold of Glade Spring; one brother, Charles K. Vaughan of Abingdon; and eight grandchildren.

Bessie Virginia Baumgardner, 99, of Sugar Grove (the Camp Community), died Monday, Oct. 7, 1996, in the Francis Marion Manor in Marion.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Blue Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Dover-Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time.
She was the widow of French Baumgardner and was a member of the Blue Springs United Methodist Church in Camp.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen B. and Felix Sidur of Ware, Mass., and Clara Mae and Jerry Mohr of Rio Rancho, N.M.; one son and daughters-in-law, Marion Floyd and Ruth Baumgardner of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Leona B. "Tiny" Baumgardner of Sugar Grove; one sister, Mary F. Gross of Bluefield; and nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Carol Huntley Luck Cassell, 58, of Wytheville, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. John M. Hawn. Interment followed in the Kimberlin Lutheran Church cemetery.
She was a school teacher in the Wythe County and Prince William County public schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Lousie Koontz Luck.
Survivors include her husband, Charles M. Cassell of Wytheville; her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Cassell Hackler and Darryl Hackler of Fayetteville, N.C.; a grandson, Martin Hackler of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother and sisters-in-law, Dr. J. Thomas and Rosalie Luck of Damascus; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda Luck Davis and Elmer Davis of Rocky Mount; her mother-in-law, Ida M. Cassell of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest "Pete" Hoback.

Robert Wayne Miller Sr., 89, of Bland, died Monday, Oct. 7, 1996, in a Bluefield hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Clifton and Rev. Ted Anders officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh cemetery.
He was born Dec. 18, 1906 in Bland County, the son of the late Charles Edward and Sarah Elizabeth Ramsey Miller. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church.
He is survived by five daughters, Katrina M. Wilburn of Bland, Janivieve Clemmer of Royersford, Pa., Christine Miller, Marie Miller, and Sue Miller; five sons, Robert W. "Bobby" Miller Jr. of Coatsville, Pa., Leon Miller of Salem, Rodney Miller of Norristown, Pa., Pete Miller and Charles Miller; one step-daughter, Evelyn Byrd Long of Ironto; and 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Richard N. Mills, 56, of Natural Bridge, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1996, in the Roanoke Memorial Cancer Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. at the High Bridge Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Glenn M. Coleman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He was born Dec. 8, 1939, in Bluefield, W.Va., a son of Elah Morgan Mills of Fayetteville, N.C. and the late Woodrow W. Mills Sr. He attended the High Bridge Presbyterian Church.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Kathy R. Mills of Natural Bridge; two daughters, Cindy L. Cates of Roanoke, and Cathy M. Hudgins of Blacksburg; two grandchildren. Allsion and John Dyer; and seven sisters and brothers, Patricia Diamond, of Florida, Thomas Mills of Florida, Rebecca Miguels of Alabama, Woodrow W. Mills Jr. of Alabama, William R. She was born in Pulaski, the daughter of the late Sam and Lizzie Vaughan Kingrea.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cassius A. Smith; and a daughter, Ruth Freeman.
Survivors include a sister, Elsie Stevenson of Pulaski; a son-m-law, William R. "Bill" Freeman of Max Meadows; a granddaughter, Ann Ashworth of Houston, Texas; a grandson, Joe Freeman of Max Meadows; a great-grandson, Eric Freeman of Wytheville; and a great-great-grandson, Gage Freeman of Elk Creek.

He was born in Max Meadows, a son of the late Samuel and Carrie Armbrister. He was a member of the Locust Hill United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary A. Jones; and four brothers, Sullins Armbrister, Neal Armbrister, Buford Armbrister, and Price Armbrister.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Alford Armbrister of the home; a sister, Eula Fink of Max Meadows; three brothers, James Armbrister, Garnett Armbrister, both of Max Meadows, and Clarence Armbrister of Bastian.

He was retired from Tabor Machine Shop, in Bluewell, W.Va.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Louise Caldwell of Pearisburg; and a host of cousins.

E. Neal Dutton, 93, of Rural Retreat, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, in the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. at Blue Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Edwards and Rev. John Blanken officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
He was a graduate of Emory & Henry College, a teacher and principal in North Carolina, and a retired farmer in Smyth County. He was also a member of the Blue Springs United Methodist Church in Camp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Bennington Dutton.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ernest R. (Marie) Wood of Potomac, Md., Mrs. Olin A. (Helen) Jungeblut of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Mrs. G. Rodney (Eva) Anderson of Glade Spring; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. and Elaine Dutton of Rural Retreat; three brothers, Clarence Dutton of Greensboro, N.C., Ralph Dutton of Charlotte, N.C., and Maurice Dutton of Rural Retreat; and nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
