Mary Freeman Dorsey, 87, of Wytheville, died Sunday, July 5, 1998.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles Burnett officiating. Interment will follow in the West End cemetery.
She was born in Wythe County, a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Perlina Winesette Freeman. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a retired bookkeeper with Leggett Department Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor M. Dorsey; two sisters, Lawnie Freeman and Roberta Crowder; four brothers, Sam Freeman, Edd Freeman, Bill Freeman, and Jim Freeman; one niece, Bernice Crowder; and one nephew, Larry Freeman.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret G. Freeman of Austinville; one brother, Raymond F. Freeman Sr. of Max Meadows; seven nephews, Foster Freeman of Durham, N.C., Mike Freeman, Charles Freeman, Leon Freeman, Duane Freeman, Joe Freeman, and Ralph Freeman, all of Wythe County; four nieces, Mary Jane Richardson of Wytheville, Ann Ashworth of Houston, Texas, Brenda Brewer and Linda Riddle, both of Wythe County; great-nieces and great-nephews, Laura Beth Freeman, Katherine Hurst, Tammie Jackson, Pam Midkiff, Nicole Hager, Jeff Freeman, Ryan Freeman, Robbie Freeman, Will Freeman and Eric Freeman; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Krista Freeman, Kristen Midkiff, Brooke Hager, Stephanie Hager, Laura Blevins, Lisa Blevins, Brandon Freeman, Gage Freeman, and Ryan Anthony Freeman II; special friends, Helga Ryan, Gary and Marlene Stevens, Debra and Carey Berg, Sara Poole, Edna Kegley and Mike Polakoff; and a host of relatives and friends.

The Rev. Alex Gravley, 74, of Fries, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Blue Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 1, at the Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bill Linkous and the Rev. Edward Wood officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
He was born in Wythe County on Feb. 10, 1924, to Ed and Effie Crowder Gravley. He was a retired minister with the Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness Conference with 44 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Boyles Gravley of Fries; two daughters and son-in-law, Phyllis and Eddie King of Route 3, Wytheville, and Delores Edwards of Galax; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Brenda Gravley of Fries; one sister, Norma Isom of Fries; his father- and mother-in-law, Russell and Ethel Boyles of Fries; six grandchildren, Eddie King Jr., Jason King of Fort Chiswell, Amy Semones, Justin Edwards of Galax, Bryan Gravley and Brett Gravley, both of Fries; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia Doss Spraker, 76, of Ivanhoe, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, in the Lewis Gale Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel in Austinville. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery.

Preston Lea Campbell Sr.
Preston Lea Campbell Sr., 86, of Rural Retreat and formerly of Charlottesville died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1996, at his home.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 30, at 11:30 a.m. at Monticello Memory Gardens with the Rev. Alexander L. Darby officiating.
Born Sept. 5, 1910 in Long Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Grant Campbell and Ethel Lea Campbell, and the husband of the late Virginia Cloud Stoneham. He was an attorney with the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. for 25 years. He was a graduate of South Kent Prep School in South Kent, Conn. and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1936. He was a member of the Farmington Country Club, confirmed in the Episcopal Church and a member of St. David Anglican Parish.
He is survived by three children, Mary Campbell Trinnaman of Los Angeles, Calif., Preston Lea Campbell Jr. of Rural Retreat, and Campbell Hawkins of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary Price Campbell of Charlottesville; a brother, Grant Campbell Jr. of Charlottesville; and six grandchildren.

Jack M. Lamm of Tucker, Ga., died June 30, 1996, in Georgia.
Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran cemetery with Pastor Edward Shaack officaiting.
He was the son the late Hallie and Ernestine Felty Lamm.
He is survived by one son, Eric Lamm of Georgia; four daughters, Leslie Lamm, Kimberly Lamm, Noel Lamm Adams, and Amy Lamm, all of Georgia; former wife, Elaine Lamm of Georgia; and an aunt Mrs. Randolph Felty of Wytheville.

Eva King BeCraft, 85, of Roanoke, formerly of Wytheville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, in a local hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 2, at 1 p.m., at Oakey's North Chapel, Roanoke, with the Rev. Albin P. Crutchfield Jr. officiating. Interment was held at 3:30 p.m. in the West End cemetery, Wytheville.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wytheville, and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Roanoke. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran women's group and sang in the choir. She was graduate of Kings Grove High School in Crockett and attended Martha Washington College in Abingdon. She worked at Spiller Elementary in Wytheville and in the Roanoke City Schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Volney G. King and Josephine Copenhaver King; her husband, George William BeCraft, a long time employee of the Southwest Virginia Enterprise and the Wythe County News; three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include a son, Robert "Bob" V. BeCraft of Roanoke; a daughter, Carolyn B. Day of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Clark A. BeCraft and Ginger B. Mitchell of Roanoke, and Angela M. Day-Giallorenzi and her husband, Tom Giallorenzi, of Salt Lake City, Utah; many nieces and nephews; and many friends at the Big House in Roanoke and at Family Dance in Boones Mills.

William Henry "Bill" Hall, 76, of Wytheville, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Kenneth Fogus officiating. Interment will follow in the West End cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 9.
He was born in Wytheville, a son of the late Ernest and Bessie Jackson Hall and was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Goodman Hall of Wytheville; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Stamper, and Brenda and Ronnie Joe Rodgers, all of Wytheville; two step-daughters, Mary Frances Parris Grubb of Columbia, S.C., and Kathleen Parris Wheeler of Wytheville; two stepsons, Edward Parris of Greenville, S.C., and Fred Parris of Dublin; a sister, Mary Sue Funk of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Ricky Rogers, Mary Rogers and Stacy Rogers; and six stepgranddaughters and eight stepgrandsons.

She was the widow of Lewis Greek Huddle.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Huddle Kincer.

The Rev. Dave Sanders McKinney, 72, of Wytheville, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 3, at 3 p.m. at the Morning Star Church of God with Bishop Tony O. Carter officiating. Interment followed in the Oakwood cemetery.
He was born in Elk Creek, a son of the late Verna McKinney and was retired from the Norfolk & Western Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Pastor Mary A. McKinney of the home; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Sandra and Chester Robinson of Galax, Patricia and Rudolph Kyle, Freddye and Guy Hall, Debbie McKinney, and Mechelle McKinney, all of Wytheville; a son and daughter-in-law, John Larry and Frances McKinney of Wytheville; two sisters, Mattie Mae McKinney of Independence and Sena Rose Jackson of Elk Creek; one brother, Harry Smith Jr. of Wytheville; and 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Robert Norville Smith, 69, of Route 1, Hiwassee, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, in the Pulaski Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Marion, N.C. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Kathleen Elkins Smith; one son, John Michael Smith of Snowville; two daughters, Elizabeth Yvonne Gravely of Wytheville and Wanda Smith Puckett of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; his mother, Sue Smith Anderson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Jan Hendrix of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and one brother, Jerome Smith of Charlotte, N.C.
