Walter Lee Gordon, 60, of Hillsville, died Monday, July 14, 1997, in the Galax Regional Hospital.
Graveside services and interment will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at the West End cemetery with the Rev. H.M. Fenstermaker officiating.
He is survived by three foster sisters, Lorene Lewis of Goodview, Harvie Markham of Fincastle, and Lois Luverne Graves of Roanoke.

Patricia Shinault L. Jennings
Patricia "Chi-Chi" Shinault Lephew Jennings, 42, of Rt. 3, Max Meadows, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, at 3 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Lindamood officiating. Interment was in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert F. Shinault; and a brother, Steven P. Shinault.
Survivors include her husband, James Walter Lee "Jimmy" Jennings of Rt. 3, Max Meadows; one daughter, Shanna Michelle Lephew of the home; two sons, Michael Shayne Lephew and Christopher Shawn Lephew, both of the home; special niece, Lorrie Ellen Blevins of the home; one grandchild, Adrienne Briann Ellerby of Wytheville; her mother, Ellen P. Shinault of Wytheville; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Ike Hamlin, Marjorie Shinault, LeJeanne and Dennis Cassell, all of Wytheville, Linda Blevins of Grahams Forge, Minnie and Charlie Creger of Rural Retreat; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Nancy Shinault of Pulaski, Jake and Belle Shinault of Piney, Jack and Susie Shinault, and Preston Shinault, all of Wytheville, Merle and Kay Shinault of Grove Port, Ohio, and Gabe and Linda Shinault of Max Meadows; 31 nieces and nephews, 11 great-nieces and great-nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Harry Paul Lindamood
Harry Paul Lindamood, 93, of Bristol, Tenn., formerly of Bland, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, in Cambridge House in Bristol.
Graveside services and interment were held Monday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at the Mountain View cemetery in Bristol with the Rev. Ralph Kidd and the Rev. Ray Davis officiating.
He was born in Bland County, and retired from Sevier's Dry Cleaning Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Grant Lindamood and Martha Kitts Lindamood; his wife, Sally Brown Lindamood; a sister, Erma Jane Foglesong; and three brothers, Rush Lindamood, Clyde Lindamood and Elmer Chloe Lindamood.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Marvin (Mayme) Neel of Bland; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the J. Stephen Lindamood Basketball Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Bland High School, Bland, VA 24315.

Greek Cassell Neff Jr.
Greek Cassell "Dick" Neff Jr., 72, of Bronxville, N.Y., formerly of Rural Retreat, died Friday, July 11, 1997, in the Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church in Rural Retreat. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Rural Retreat American Legion Post No. 29.
A native of Rural Retreat, he was owner and horseman with the Twin Lakes Farm from 1975 to 1977 and was a member of the Professional and American Horseman Association. As director of the riding program at Radford University, he was known for his direction of the Radford Redcoats and Equestrian Drill Team that performed throughout the United States. He was past chairman of the Rural Retreat Fair Association and the Lions Club of America and was a member of the United Methodist Church. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Greek C. and Lillian Cassell Neff.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Withers Neff of Bronxville, N.Y.; one son, Greek C. Neff III of Belspring; one daughter, Rebecca Neff of Ventura, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Williams of Saltville and Pat Furr of Chesterfield; and five grandchildren.

Virginia Brown Pearce of Sparks, Md. formerly of Rural Retreat, died Monday, July 14, 1997, in the Broodmead Community in Cockeysville, Md.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17, at 2 p.m. at the Bosley United Methodist Church in Sparks, Md.
She is survived by two children, Wilbur Brown Pearce, and Elaine Mitchell, both of Perryman, Md.; a sister, Louise Brown Walters of Rural Retreat; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth G. Brown of Rural Retreat.
Kenneth Dale Wagner
Kenneth Dale Wagner, 39, of Pittsboro, N.C., died Tuesday, July 8, 1997.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at the Speedwell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Phillips officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Dorothy Richardson Williams of Ivanhoe died Saturday, July 12, 1997, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at Forest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Lewis officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Ivanhoe.
She was a native of Wythe County and was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Della Mae Sutphin Richardson.
Survivors include her husband, Nile H. Williams of Ivanhoe; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Cleve Sawyers of Woodlawn, Linda and Bobby Branscome, and Phyllis and Larry Thacker, all of Max Meadows; one son and daughter-in-law, Meredith and Thelma Williams of Rt. 3, Wytheville; seven grandchildren, David Branscome, Missy Delby, Kenneth Combs, Curtis Williams, Cindy Tabor, Chris Turpin and Lori Turpin; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Winifred King of Ivanhoe, Beatrice Wampler of Wytheville and Joyce Shumate of Greensboro, N.C.

Ethel Burnett Winesette, 81, of Knoxville, Tenn., died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Kirby and lay speaker Michael Coggins officiating. Interment was in the Burnett Family cemetery in Carroll County.
She was born in Carroll County and was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Rachel Coulson Burnett; and a son, Douglas Winesette.
Survivors include her husband, Jotty Winesette of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and E.K. Coggins of Pontotoc, Miss., and Loretta and Joseph Douglas of Huntsville, Ala.; one son, Randy Winesette of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Ruth Hill of Galax; one brother, Gleamer Burnett of Galax; a special sister-in-law, Clestine Taylor of Austinville; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Fred Dennis Bard of Wytheville, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Aubrey Whitlow. Interment in the Fairview Methodist Church cemetery.
He was retired senior project manager for Nello L. Teer Co. with 42 years of service, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Schultz Bard of Wytheville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Gary Scott of Wytheville, and Jo Anne and James Fender of Salem; two sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Cynthia Bard of Durham, N.C., and Bryan Bard of Wytheville; one granddaughter, Stacy Scott; two grandsons, Jimmy Fender, and Jason Fender; a special nephew James C. Wolfe of Roanoke; two sisters Zelma Wolfe of Georgia, and Mae France of Ohio; and two brothers Waid Bard of Columbus, Ohio, and George Bard of North Carolina.

Robert Lee Blackwell, 53, of Wytheville, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Pastor Stephen Tilley. Interment will be in the Sulphur Springs cemetery in Chilhowie. The Marion VFW Post No. 4667 will conduct graveside military rites.
He was an employee of the American Screw Company and was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam War.
He is survived by three stepdaughters, Lisa M. Waller, Carolyn D. Fariss, both of Max Meadows, and Teresa L. Mize of Dublin; one stepson, David Fariss of Max Meadows; two sisters, Helen Gillespie of Chilhowie, and Carrie Lineberry of Rural Retreat; one brother, Jim Blackwell of Rural Retreat; and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Vurla Roberts Brown, 79, of Elk Creek, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Alleghany Memorial Hospital, Sparta, N.C.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 8, at 3:30 p.m. in Lebanon United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Eminhizer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Born Dec. 7, 1918, in Grayson County to Finnie and Cora Roberts. She was the widow of Clarence W. Brown.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Andy Sokol of Max Meadows, and Nancy and Joey Messer of Galax; two sons and daughters-in-law, Junior and Nancy Brown, and Richard and Brenda Brown, all of Elk Creek; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
