Samuel Martin Burris, 83, of Cove Hills Drive, Wytheville, died Monday, July 28, 1997, at his residence.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at 2 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Fred Jennings. Interment will be in the Monta Vista cemetery, Galax.
He was retired from Webb Furniture Company, Galax.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Cline Burris of Wytheville, and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth Noblett Fielder, 92, of Route 1, Rural Retreat, the Cedar Springs community, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, in the Birdmont Health Care Center in Wytheville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Perkins, the Rev. Dan Moore, and the Rev. Fred E. Jennings officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Cedar Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sumet Elvin Fielder.
Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Mary Virginia and James Shupe of Rural Retreat, Shirley and Wayne Grubb of Crockett, and Frances and Willard Hackler of Galax; a son and daughter-in-law, E. Bruce and Frances Fielder of Rural Retreat; a brother and sisters-in-law, Silas and Ina Noblett of Galax, and Rose Noblett of Fries; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Services.

June Rickey Linkous, 77, of Richmond, formerly of Wytheville, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, in Richmond.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 30, at 11 a.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Randy Morris. Interment will be in the West End cemetery.
She was a resident of the Masonic Home of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil T. Linkous.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Linkous of Quinton, Dennis Linkous of Nags Head, N.C., and Edmond Linkous of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Emily Michaelis of Wytheville; one brother, Julian "Shug" Rickey of Max Meadows; and three grandchildren.

Jason Howard Riggins, 17, of Route 1, Austinville, died Saturday, July 26, 1997, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at 1 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Vernon E. Landreth and Jackie Goines officiating. Interment followed in the Bethany cemetery.
He was a student at Fort Chiswell High School.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcia Lynn Parks.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Randall and Tammy Riggins of Route 1, Austinville; one sister, Ashley Nicole Riggins of the home; one step-sister, Elisha Rose Mabry of the home; two half-brothers, Cody Riggins and Quitan Riggins, both of the home; his paternal grandparents, Harry and Alma Riggins of Austinville; and several aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

Alma Louise Snodgrass, 81, of West North Street, Wytheville, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, 1997, at 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Fogus officiating. Committal services and entombment were held Tuesday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at the Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, W.Va.
She was born in Darbyville, a daughter of the late John and Laura White Jeffries, and was a member of the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rouser G. Snodgrass of the home; one daughter, Ann Lisa Lewis of Douglasville, Ga.; three sons, Harold G. Snodgrass of Buena Vista, Stephen P. Snodgrass of Painesville, Ohio, and John P. Snodgrass of West Farmington, Ohio; a sister, Mary Smith of Florida; a brother, Jack Jeffries of Galax; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

David Lee Batchelor, 51, of Route 3, Max Meadows, the Graham's Forge community, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, in the Johns-Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Gunter and the Rev. Bill Edmonds officiating.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hillsville, a supervisor and buyer for Pulaski Furniture Company and an avid outdoorsman. His hobby was growing roses. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Manuel Batchelor of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Melinda Batchelor of Route 3, Max Meadows, and Michael and Stacy Batchelor of Wytheville; one grandson, Justin Matthew Batchelor; his parents, Paul and Evelyn Batchelor of Hillsville; one sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Curtis Easter of Lexington, S.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Trina Batchelor of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four nieces, seven nephews, one great-niece, and one great-nephew.

Evelyn Mozelle Boysaw, 69, of Ashtabula, Ohio, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ohio.
A service will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Apostolic Faith Holiness Church of God in Christ, Griggs Road, Jefferson, Ohio, with Bishop Oree Keyes Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview cemetery.
She was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Speedwell, a daughter of Walter and Euna Lee Howard Jenkins and had been an Asthabula, Ohio, resident since 1948. Prior to her retirement in 1984, she was employed by LCP now known as ASHTA Chemicals. She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Holiness Church of God in Christ in Jefferson, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel A. Kelley, Edna A. Jenkins and Emma Jenkins; five brothers, Walter P. Jenkins, James Ernest Jenkins, Jessie C. Jenkins, John Jenkins and Charles Jenkins; and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Charles T. Boysaw of Lima, Ohio, and Larry Boysaw of Ashtabula, Ohio; one daughter, Barbara Foster of Ashtabula, Ohio; two grandchildren, Lawrence D. Boysaw and Monique Renee Foster; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Foster and Sydney Coleman; one brother, Walker F. Jenkins of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Percy Jenkins of Ashtabula, Ohio; and numerous other relatives.

Lamer R. Cox
Lamer R. Cox, 95, of Route 1, Bland, formerly of Lerona and Pipestem, W.Va., died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at the Princeton Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. at the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road, Princeton, W.Va., with the Rev. Lee McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in the Reid cemetery in Spanishburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 21, 1903, at Dunns, W.Va., he was a son of the late William Irvin "Budge" and Dorcas Ellison Cox. He was educated in and spent the majority of his life in Mercer County, W.Va. He was a member of the Bastian Union Church, Bastian. He was a retired employee of the maintenance department at Concord College in Athens, W.Va., and was a retired farmer. He had made his home for the past 16 years with his daughter-in-law, Shirley Cox.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther P. Moye Cox; a son, Charles David Cox; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son and two daughters-in-law, Leslie Earl and Charlotte Cox of Stafford, and Shirley Cox of Bland; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kathy and Bob Snyder of King, N.C.; two sisters, Pansy Meador of Beeville, Texas, and Twila Meadows of Sophia, W.Va.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Clara Cox of Millwood, W.Va.

Robert Junior Dickens, 68, of Wytheville, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, in a Roanoke hospital.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Dickens of Dublin.

Samuel L. Hager, 79, of Max Meadows, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, in the Pulaski Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Max Meadows United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Lindamood officiating. Interment will be in the Hager Family cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time.
He was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Cardwell Hager. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II and Korea.
He is survived by three brothers, Charles B. Hager of Pulaski, Thomas A. Hager of Max Meadows and William C. Hager of Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
