William Albert Brooks Sr., 101, of 2117 Miller Ave. entered into eternal rest on September 15, 2002. He leaves to cherish his memory one son, William A. Carrie Goode Brown, 93, of Richmond, departed this life Tuesday, September 17, 2002. She is survived by three sisters, Mildred Goode Flora, Kathleen Goode Hopson and Lelia Goode Coles (Nathan); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, two sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St. A graveside service will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Garden, Chester, Va. CHEATHAM
Celeste T. "Mammaw" Cheatham, 93, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord September 17, 2002. She was the widow of Raymond P. Cheatham and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra C. Hartz. She is survived by two grandsons, Steven P. Hartz and Douglas L. Hartz and his wife, Lisa; two stepgreat-grandsons, Michael and Matthew; and her dog, Charlie Ray. She was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church and a former member of the the James River Woman's Club and Willow Oaks Country Club. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Friday 2 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. On Saturday, September 14, 2002 God called an angel home, our beloved, Isaih Abraham Cosby. In his short life, he brought great joy to many lives. Left to cherish his memories, with great anticipation in seeing him again, are his parents, Husain T. and Ebony Hicks-Cosby; his sisters, Danielle Hicks and Michelle Cosby; his brother, Eric Hicks, all of Newport News; his paternal grandparents, Dorothy and Abraham Cosby of Richmond; his maternal grandparents, Erma and Arthur Mason of Yorktown and Gloria and Larry Hicks of Newport News; his great-grandmother, Tomcena Jackson Clark of Hampton; a host of loving aunts, great-aunts, uncles, cousins and many caring friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 19, 2002 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Whiting's Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held 12 noon on Friday, September 20, 2002 in Bethel Restoration Center, 202 Alesa Drive, Williamsburg, with Bishop John Gray officiating. DAVIS
MGY SGT Frank A. Davis Jr., 82, of Richmond, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; and a daughter, Annette and is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Cowardin; a son, Richard Davis; four grandchildren, Grady and Jackie Cowardin, Carlie and Richard West. Mr. Davis was retired from the United States Marine Corps and served in Okinawa during WWII. He was also a member of New Covenant Baptist Church. His family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. JoMarie Davis, 50, of Richmond, died suddenly September 16, 2002. JoMarie leaves behind many loving family members who will miss her dearly. She was an employee of the IRS for 17 years JoMarie leaves to mourn her brother, Robert E. Davis and his wife, Anne and their children, Kevin and Cindy; her sister, Susan Bevan and her husband, David and their children, John and Chris and their wives, Brandy and Brook; her brother, Justin B. Davis Jr. and his wife, Sue and their children, Tina, Liz and her husband, Vinnie, Justin, Adrian and Thomas. FEGGINS
Departed this life September 13, 2002, Mr. Jeffrey M. Feggins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Feggins. He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Feggins; six children, three grandchildren; his father, Roosevelt Feggins Sr.; four sisters, two brothers, a host of nieces and nephews, three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. FOHL
Margaret Jane Fohl passed away September 17, 2002. Jane was born September 21, 1916 in Indianapolis, Ind. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Chloris Fohl of Richmond; her nieces, Barbara Fohl Bliley of Hampton, Sharon Fohl Hasty and Sarah Fohl Palat, both of Virginia Beach; her nephews, Richard Fohl of Richmond and Raymond Fohl of Gum Spring; ten great-nieces and great-nephews and two great-great-nieces. She is also survived by her faithful caretaker of nearly 20 years, Lula Mae Tillman of Ocala, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert R. Fohl Sr. and Margaret Wasp Fohl; her sister, Ruth Kathleen Fohl; and her brother, Robert R. Fohl Jr. Janie was an accomplished artist and loved music, horses and dogs. Janie lived with her parents in Indianapolis until her father died in 1978. She moved to Ocala with her mother and lived with her sister in Ocala until her sister's death in 2001. Just prior to Janie's death she resided with her niece in Hampton. There will be a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church in Hampton on Saturday, September 21 at 11 a.m. with Rev. George L. Oehler officiating, followed by a reception at the church. Burial will be in Indianapolis, Ind. Franklin Miles, 45, of Charles City, died September 12, 2002 after a long illness. He is survived by his daughters, Marsha and Gloria Miles of Richmond; one grandson, Ari Micah West and his devoted mother, Carrie Lorene Miles of Charles City; four sisters, Gayle Quivers and Marilyn Miles of Charles City, Brenita Wallace and Kathy Miles, both of Richmond; one brother-in-law, Jesse Quivers; five nieces, four nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and a host of friends. James Andrew (Andy) Jacobs, 37, of King William, died September 17, 2002. He is survived by Tina R. Jacobs; a daughter, Mary Katherine (Katie) Jacobs; three sons, Joshua Andrew, Zachary James and Noah Mitchell Jacobs; his parents, James and Ellen Jacobs; a brother, Matthew Jacobs and his wife, Alison, two sisters, Doris Ann and Nancy Carol; maternal grandfather, William A. Frazier; a nephew and three nieces. Remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Myriam Ammons Leadbetter, 72, a homemaker, of Gum Spring, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 18, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Knight Leadbetter; and her two sons, Leon Knight Leadbetter Jr. and Ronald Coleman Leadbetter. She is survived by her three daughters, Evelyn A. Warrens, Patricia L. Gibson and her husband, Robert and Mary L. Richardson and her husband, Scott; her daughter-in-law, Vicki P. Leadbetter; her grandchildren, Mandy, Charlie, Lance, Jonathan, Cristal, Chad and Joel; four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Billy and Wray Ammons. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21 at Gum Spring United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. LEWIS
Lemuel S. Lewis Jr., 79, of Hanover County, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 17, 2002. He was predeceased by his first wife, Florence Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Becky Lewis; children, Ron Lewis and his wife, Beth and Priscilla Lewis and her husband, William Claytor; grandchildren, Shannon Lewis and his wife, Alex and Sloane Lewis; great-grandchild, Jacob Lewis; sister, Melba Walters. Mr. Lewis retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve as Chief Petty Officer, having served in WWII, Korea and the Cuban conflict. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 40, Scottish Rite, ACCA Temple, Legion of Honor and the Elks Lodge No. 45. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. LEWIS
William A. Lewis, 82, of Richmond, died on Tuesday, September 17, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Christine; two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. Lewis Jr. and Faye and Thomas L. Lewis and Betty; one sister, Irene Garrett of Nelson, Va.; four grandchildren, Erin, Cara, Travis and Drew. Mr. Lewis was a butcher for over 53 years with A&P and Ukrop's. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday in Halifax. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 8580 Magellan Parkway, Building 4, Richmond, Va. 23227.
