Anne Lindsey Lovingood, 48, of Maryville, Tenn., died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at the family home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6632 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tenn. Graveside services and interment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mountain View cemetery in Rural Retreat with Pastor James Bangle officiating.
She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Tenn., and active in the community through involvement in school organizations and as a Girl Scout leader. She served as a substitute teacher in several South Knox elementary schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Evelyn Lindsey of Marion; and a sister, Mary L. Baumgardner of Charlotte, N.C.
Survivors include her husband, Bert Lovingood; her children, Tip and Lindsey Lovingood of Maryville, Tenn.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Dick Riggle of Wytheville, and Sarah and Tom Etheredge of Titusville, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Linda Lindsey of Newman, Ga., and Frank and Lori Lindsey of Monroe, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the memorial fund at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6632 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920.

Dallas R. Newman
Dallas R. Newman, 93, formerly of Rural Retreat, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, in the Edgemont Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church with a sunset burial and Masonic service at the Mountain View cemetery following the service.
He was an "official greeter" at the Marion Wal-mart store from the opening day until 1994. He was remembered as the man with the red bow tie, hat and suspenders. He had been a resident at Edgemont Health Care Center for four years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia King Newman; son, Roy Franklin Newman; a daughter, Daisie Newman Moore; his parents, seven brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sis and Sam Cassell of Wytheville; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Joan Newman of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Helen B. Newman of Crockett; two brothers, Dr. John Newman of Roanoke, and Garnett Newman of Chilhowie; and eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church.

Brydie Patterson Poole, 74, of Austinville, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, in the Roanoke Community Hospital.

Iva Cox Burton, 92, of Wytheville, died Saturday, May 9, 1998, in the Birdmont Health Care Center.
A graveside service was held Monday, May 11, at 4 p.m. in the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery conducted by Rev. Eddie Noe.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Burton Sr.; and a son, A.L. Burton Jr.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins; and one brother-in-law, Thomas Burton of Little Creek.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Educational Building fund.

Bonnie Dutton Copenhaver
Bonnie Dutton Copenhaver, 101, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Rural Retreat, died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Highland House Nursing Home in Fayetteville, N.C.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at the Fulton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rance Edwards officiating. Interment followed in the Kimberlin Lutheran cemetery in Rural Retreat.
She was born in Rural Retreat, on April 1, 1897, a daughter of the late William Jonas and Nancy B. Dutton. She was a lifelong member of the Fulton United Methodist Church in Rural Retreat and had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bob Garman since 1957.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl P. Copenhaver; a daughter, Elizabeth C. Ogle; a sister, Ethel D. Heldreth; and a brother, G. Hobert Dutton.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Robert Garman of Fayetteville, N.C., Margaret C. Medley of Rural Retreat, and Malcolm C. Ogle of Pulaski; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kent Copenhaver, Clyde Copenhaver, both of Rural Retreat, Hugh and Doris Copenhaver of Atkins, Randolph and Jackie Copenhaver of Wytheville; 10 grandchildren, Patty O. Parris, David Ogle, Donald Ogle, Sharyn Ogle, William Eugene Copenhaver, Paul Copenhaver, Tony Copenhaver, Dwayne Copenhaver, Karen Jackson and Ashley Garman; and 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Fulton United Methodist Church.

Minnie Vere Gentry Findlay, 87, of Wytheville, died Friday, May 8, 1998, in Birdmont Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Michael Wingard and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Sproule officiating. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.
She was born Jan. 24, 1911 in Independence, a daughter of the late John and Ella Copenhaver Gentry. She was a graduate of University of Virginia School of Nursing, a member of Wytheville Presbyterian Church, retired from Wytheville Office Supply and was a golfer and bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Campbell Findlay; a son, Harris Findlay; three sisters, Euna Faye Campbell, Thelma Crotts, and Evah Ward; and one brother, Max Gentry.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ty and Wayne Roop of Wytheville; two grandsons, Kevin Roop of Breckinridge, Colo., and Che Roop of Wytheville; a granddaughter, Mia Roop of Wytheville; a sister, Zoe Gentry of Wytheville; two sisters-in-law, Jessie Gentry of Independence, and Lu Peck of Kingsport, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby Pearl Fisher, 83, of Route 3, Wytheville, the Piney Community, died Monday, May 11, 1998, in the Radford Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, at 3 p.m. at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rae Mullins officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time.
She was born in Carroll County a daughter of the late William Giles and Susie Virginia Reynolds Coleman. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Jack" Fisher; four sisters, Claira Spencer, Lura Lineberry, Cora Aker, and Jessie Coleman; and five brothers, Raymond Coleman, John Coleman, Earl Coleman, Bernard Coleman, and Arthur Coleman.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Adrian Stoots, and Faye and Mike Callahan, all of Wytheville; a son and daughter-in-law, Claude and Thelma Fisher of Bristol; two granddaughters, Karen Stoots and Leslie Fisher; two grandsons and spouse, Todd and Jamie Henderson, and Larry Henderson; a brother, Lester Coleman of Route 3, Wytheville; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris Lillian Guin, 68, of West Jefferson St., Wytheville, died Friday, May 8, 1998, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.

She is survived by a special friend, James A. Blair of Wytheville; and several other family members and friends.

Olin Kyle Keith Lyon
Olin Kyle Keith Lyon, 75, of Lexington, N.C., died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C.
A graveside service was held Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at the National cemetery in Salisbury, N.C. with Chaplain Otay officiating.
He was born in Rowan County, N.C., on Dec. 17, 1922 to Kyle Lyon and Jennie Talbert Lyon Smith. He was self-employed as an electrician. He was a veteran of World War having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by two daughters, Becky Catron of Rural Retreat, and Kay Daniels of Richfield, N.C.; a brother John G. Lyon of Lexington, N.C.; and one grandson, Chris Catron of Greensboro, N.C.

Anne Wilkinson Matney, 82, of Speedwell, died Sunday, May 10, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at the Groseclose Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service time.
She was an L.P.N. for over 60 years.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph L. Matney Sr. of Speedwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and J.C. Caudill of Speedwell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph L. Jr. and Wanda Matney of Speedwell, and Raymond and Nancy Matney of Rural Retreat; a sister-in-law, Irene Wilkinson of Wytheville; special nieces, Anne Ward of Rural Retreat, Cathy Lovelace of Rural Retreat, Carol Coffeen of Parkton, Md., and Sandra Glennie of Bullhead City, Ariz.; a special nephew, Bruce Odum of Loganville, Ga.; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt F. "Limbo" Blevins; and her parents, Raymond S. and Willie Sult King.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Emmitt "Frankie" and Melinda Blevins of Rural Retreat; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Dix of Crockett; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jackie King of Wytheville; one grandson, Zachary Blevins; and several nieces and nephews.
