Mary Morgan Stoots, 66, of Austinville, Va., died Monday, July 8, 2002, in the Roanoke Community Hospital, Roanoke, Va.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel, Austinville, Va., with the Rev. Gary Cope officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany cemetery, Poplar Camp section of Wythe County, Va.
She was born in North Wales, U.K. the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Rogers Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Stoots.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Anne Stoots of Austinville, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Eric and Wynn Stoots of Collinsville, Okla.; three grandchildren, Erica Michelle Callahan, Maryanne L. Stoots and Andrea Denise Stoots; a sister, Dolly Burchell of Petersborough, London, U.K.; a brother, John and Una Morgan of Australia; niece, Kathryn Price of Wisconsin; a special friend, Beatrice Surratt of Austinville, Va.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William R. and Sharon Stoots of South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Linda Stoots Lawson and David of Wytheville, Va.; special-in-laws, Deniske and Richard Albin of Texas; great-uncle, C.T. "Charlie Mike" Stoots of Austinville, Va.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Swanson and Ellen Stoots; special friends, Pauline Stevens and family of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends in the U.K. and Australia.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home.

Anna Kincer Frye, 81, of Wytheville, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 1996, in a St. Stephen's, S.C., nursing home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosewood cemetery, Rural Retreat.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bill Palmer of Bonneau, S.C., and Patricia and Darrel LaRue of Independence; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Teresa Frye of Roanoke; two brothers, Ellis Kincer and Clifford Kincer, both of Wytheville; a sister, Ozelle Hale of Dublin; and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Treva Sue Burnette Harris
Treva Sue Burnette Harris, 53, of Gulfport, Miss., formerly of Carroll County, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, in the Gulf Port (Miss.) Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel in Austinville with the Rev. Berlin Hanks and the Rev. Holly Phillips officiating. Interment follow in the Oak Grove cemetery, Carroll County.
She was born in Carroll County, a daughter of the late Emmett Wesley and Alta Coulson Hanks Burnette. She graduated from Woodlawn High School. She was an executive secretary for the State Department of Marine Resources for the state of Mississippi. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lula Belle Burnette; and a half-brother, Ubert Hanks.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy H. Harris of the home; three sons, Brian Griffen of Spring, Texas, Charles Griffen of Arlington, Texas, and Randy Harris of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Dorothy Burnette of Austinville, and Rev. Berlin and Opal Hanks of Snow Creek; and six grandchildren.

George W. Huddle
George W. Huddle, 75, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, in Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Border City, Nev.
He was born in Ivanhoe on March 13, 1921. He worked for the City of Las Angeles, Calif., and lived in Carson, Calif., until he retired from the Department of Water and Power. He was a Navy veteran, having served on aircraft carrier USS Franklin during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elliott Huddle Sr. and Maud Hartly Huddle; and a brother, John E. Huddle Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Burns Huddle; two sons, Mike Huddle of Las Vegas, Nev., and William "Bill" Huddle of Indonesia; one brother, Barton J. Huddle of Portsmouth, Ohio; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews in Wythe County.

Gay McGuire Kelley
Gay McGuire Kelley, 70, of the Mechanicsburg Community, Bland, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with the Rev. Homer D. Sawyer and Rev. Benny Peyton officiating. Burial was in the Mechanicsburg cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
She was born Oct. 13, 1926, at Mechanicsburg, a daughter of Flora Harman McGuire of Bland, and the late Joseph Edward McGuire. She was a retired Registered Nurse from Bland Correctional Center. She attended the Bible Holiness Church in Christiansburg.
She is survived by her mother, Flora Harman McGuire of Bland; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sandra Kelley of Bland; two brothers, Keith McGuire of White Gate, and Tommy McGuire of Bland; one sister, Betty M. Vest of White Gate; and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Brandon Kelley of Bland.

Rex F. Painter
Rex F. Painter, 76, of Cripple Creek, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church, Cripple Creek, with Rev. Joe Carrico officiating. Burial followed in Fleming cemetery.
He was an active member of Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church in Cripple Creek. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge for 54 years, former member of Wythe County Electoral Board, former member of the Wythe Lions Club and the ASCS Board. He retired from the Virginia ABC Board after 22 years of service and was a prominent Wythe County farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Whitman Painter of Cripple Creek; one daughter and son-in-law, Beth Painter and Dick Willard of Cripple Creek; one brother and sister-in-law, Blair S. and Jean Painter of Cripple Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

William K. "Bill" Ratliff, 33, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Ratliff of Wytheville; his mother, Inez Ratliff of Wytheville; his father, Raymond Ratliff of Wytheville; one brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Bonnie Ratliff of Wytheville; and two sisters and brother-in-law, Pat Ratliff of Chester, and Robin and Sonny Fisher of Wytheville.

Lillian "Tillie" Scott of Ceres, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Newberry Funeral Chapel in Bland with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating.
She was the daughter of the late John and Olive Pennington Samples. She was a retired supervisor for the Department of Social Services.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Sue Scott Morehead of Dumfries; two sons, Ralph Woodrow Scott Jr. of Wytheville, and Thomas Lee Scott of Bland; four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Ken Baker of Wytheville.

Edna Amanda Hodge Alderman, 81, of Barren Springs, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Riverview Church of God with Rev. Wendell Gaffney, Rev. Bruce Hagy and Rev. David Allison officiating. Interment will follow in the Alderman Family cemetery.
She was born in Wythe County, a daughter of the late William and Suzanna Lawson Hodge and was a member of the Riverview Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Heath Alderman; a son, Robert Thomas Alderman; and a daughter-in-law, Louise Dalton Alderman.

Jean Allen Anderson, 72, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, in the Lynchburg General Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Mucha officiating. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.
She was born on January 28, 1924, in Rural Retreat, the daughter of the late William and Stella Grubb Allen. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Lynchburg and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was the widow of the late Frank Anderson Jr.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Brinda Anderson; two daughters and son-in-law, Jan and Tony Johnson, and Sherri L. Anderson, all of Lynchburg; two grandsons, Jarod and Jason Johnson; a stepgrandson, David Phelps; a step-great-granddaughter, Taylor Phelps; two brothers, Robert Con Allen of Brooklyn, Wis., and Fred Allen of Joppa, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

Eileen Dooley Booth, 90, of Roanoke, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, in a Roanoke nursing home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. Interment followed Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Booth cemetery in Wythe County.
She was the widow of Ernest Bryan Booth.
She is survived by a son, Herbert Gary Booth of Florida; a sister-in-law, Willie B. Eversole of Austinville; a brother-in-law, Bruce E. Booth of Salem; a sister-in-law and husband, Edith and John Martin of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Hazel Booth of Christiansburg; a nephew and wife, Robert S. and Meda Booth of Austinville; and several other nieces and nephews.

Ethel Martin Brewer, 78, of Speedwell, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. in the Speedwell United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Patricia Edwards and the Rev. Joe Carrico. Entombment will be in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Rural Retreat.
She was a daughter of the late George T. and Verlie Roberts Martin and was a member of the Speedwell United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward O. "Tobe" Brewer.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Wanda Brewer of Wytheville; two sisters, Ona Parks of Rural Retreat, and Ruth McAllister of Huntingtown, Md.; one brother, R.C. Martin of Mount Jackson; three grandchildren and husband, Melissa and Cliff Arnold, Rhonda Brewer, and Ryan Brewer, all of Wytheville; a great-grandson, Dakota Arnold; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the owner/operator of the Lawn Magic Super Vac service and was a member of the Christiansburg Moose Lodge No. 1470.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Edward Caviness; and father-in-law, Warren Morris.
