Harold Lyons Fisher, 89, of Wytheville, Va., died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 28, at 1 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel, Wytheville, Va., with the Rev. Dr. Donald Stansell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Va.
He was born in Wythe County, Va., a son of the late Elbert Wesley Fisher and Linda Brown Richardson Fisher. He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Wytheville, Va., and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired store manager with Wythe Farm Bureau Co-op.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lawson Fisher.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Harold Fisher of Summit, N.J.; and one daughter, Mary Virginia Fisher of Wytheville, Va.

Kate W. Hash, 71, of the Grubb's Chapel community of Independence, Va., died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Alleghany Memorial Hospital, Sparta, N.C.
A graveside service was held Monday, May 27, at 11 a.m. in Grubb's Chapel cemetery with Wilson McGruger officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Hash.
Survivors include four daughters and son-in-law, Mattie and Preston Edwards of Bedford, Va., Rosa and Kenneth Moxley, Shirley and Mike Jones, all of Rural Retreat, Va., and Luemmia and Steve Rosenbaum of Independence, Va.; three sons and a spouse, Dwight Hash, Dewey and Anona Hash, and Arthur Hash, all of Independence, Va.; two sisters, Stella Dowell of Independence, Va., and Myrtle Testerman of Galax, Va.; one brother, Luther Woods of Independence, Va.; a son-in-law, Allen Funk of Elk Creek, Va.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one stepgrandson.

Randall Wythe Kemp, 50, of Barren Springs, Va., died Friday, May 24, 2002, in the Columbia Pulaski Community Hospital, Pulaski, Va.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel, Austinville, Va., with the Rev. Dale Akers and the Rev. Mike Bond officiating. Interment followed in the Bond cemetery.
He was a member of Calvary Chapel Church and was retired from Sears.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jane Bond Kemp; and a sister, Brenda Kay Kemp.
Survivors include his wife, Sherri J. Kemp of the home; one son, Buck Kemp of the home; one daughter, Hannah Emma Jane Kemp of the home; one stepdaughter, Hope Eades; his father, Malcolm Wythe Kemp of Barren Springs; two sisters and brother-in-law, Karen Sue Tabor of Christiansburg, Va., and Bessie Ellen and Robby Pence of Dublin, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard French and Rebecca Kemp of Barren Springs, Va., and Donnie Keith and Charmayne Kemp of Pulaski, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Evelyn Groseclose Pickett, 92, of Blacksburg, Va., formerly of Ivanhoe, Va., died Monday, May 25, 2002, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital, Christiansburg, Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, at 3 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel, Austinville, Va., with the Rev. Ruthanne Henley officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery, Ivanhoe, Va.
She was born in Wythe County, Va., a daughter of the late Marvin C. and Martha Lawson Groseclose.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Pickett; two sisters, Cecil Childress and Hazel Hudson; and two brothers, Olen Groseclose and Raymond Groseclose.
Survivors include one brother and a sister-in-law, Elwood and Geneva Groseclose of Ivanhoe, Va.; a special nephew and his spouse, Chip and Sue Groseclose; a special great-nephew, Mark Groseclose; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ada Dell Arnold, 83, of Wytheville, Va., died Friday, May 10, 2002, in the Edgemont Center, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 13, at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Anders and the Rev. Joe Carrico officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
She was born in Wythe County, Va., a daughter of the late Benjamin and Nannie Parks Arnold. She was member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Cecil Arnold; a sister, Anna Mae Jones; and five brothers, James Arnold, Lawrence Arnold, Willie Gray Arnold, Elmer Arnold and Marvin Arnold.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Young of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Lenney Arnold, and David Leon Arnold, all of Wytheville, Va.; four sisters, Rose Shupe and Lillie Arnold, both of Fries, Va., Elizabeth Turner of Max Meadows, Va., and Ethel Smythers of Wytheville, Va.; a brother, Cloyd Arnold of Cooksville, Tenn.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Harry Douglas Grubb
Harry Douglas Grubb, 70, of Wytheville, Va., a resident of Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin, Va., died Monday, May 27, 2002.
Graveside service will be Thursday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at the West End cemetery with the Rev. Donald Stansell officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 9.
He was born in Radford, Va., a son of late Harry Brown and Mary M. Crockett Grubb. He was a former maintenance supervisor with Tuttle Electric and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Catherine Wainwright.
Survivors include a daughter, Reva Christine Grubb Neel of Wytheville, Va.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Rolfe Christian and Joyce Ann Grubb of Blacksburg, Va., and Mark Fulton and Xora Grubb of Fort Worth, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Friends may visit at the home of his daughter, Reva Neel, at any time.

Frank W. Peoples
Frank W. Peoples, 94, of Pitman, N.J., died Thursday, May 16, 2002, from cancer at home.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home Mantua, N.J. with the Rev. Dan Cooper officiating. Interment was in Harmony Methodist cemetery in Jackson, N.J.
Born Sept. 15, 1907, in Bristol, Tenn. he was a son of John H. and Mattie Godsey Peoples. He spent his early years on the family farm in Wythe County, Va., graduated from Max Meadows High School and attended William and Mary College. He worked for Hercules, Inc., for many years starting as a lab chemist and retiring as safety and personnel director at Hercules in Gibbstown, N.J. He was a member of the Pitman Church of Christ and a 50-year member of Wytheville, Va., Masonic Lodge. He often hunted with dogs and judged bird dog field trials.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Hendrickson Peoples; his parents, John H. and Mattie Godsey Peoples; and a sister, Virginia Peoples Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Leonardi Peoples of Pitman, N.J.; children, Gayle P. Shiner of Slippery Rock, Pa., John "Jack" Peoples of Westmont, N.J., Russell Peoples of Claremont, N.C., Frank W. "Bill" Peoples Jr. of Monroeville, N.J., Janice Oliver of Woodbury, N.J., and Antoinette Phyllis Harlin of Bear, Del.; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a niece.

Violet Kathryn Stoots, 82, of Austinville, Va., died Monday, May 27, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.

She was born in Belmont County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary Emma Martin Surratt. She was a member of the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Dean Martin and Virginia Lawson; and four brothers, Glenn Surratt, David Surratt, Dan Surratt and Charles Surratt.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Charlie T. "Mike" Stoots of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Roger Burnett of Staunton, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Wilma Stoots of Wytheville, Va.; four grandchildren, Karen Legg, Michele Comer, Mitchell Burnett and Cheryl Burnett; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Comer and Emma Comer; and two sisters, Avis King of Austinville, Va., and Mary Edwards of Bladensburg, Md.

Paul Lowman Sr., 71 of Hasty School Rd., Thomasville, N.C., died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in a tractor accident.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at Southgate Baptist Church in Thomasville, N.C., with the Rev. Chuck Garner officiating. Interment will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery.
He was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Davidson County, N.C., a son of the late John Brantley and Hallie Medlin Lowman. He was owner of Paul's Mill Supply and Lowman Trailer Park. He was a member of Southgate Baptist Church and the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John C. Lowman; and a sister, Minnie Frost.
