Andrew Thomas Waller
Andrew Thomas Waller, 70, of Ivanhoe, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at the Fairview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Manis and Bub Stoots officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time.
He was born in Wythe County, a son of the late Thomas George and Cecile Minnie Taylor Waller. He was retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank D. Waller; and two sons, Ranny Waller and Perry Waller.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wright Waller of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Don Crockett of Max Meadows; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis S. Waller of the home, and Michael and Laura Waller of Max Meadows; two grandchildren, Ginger Hoback and Allan Waller; two great-grandchildren, Chase Hoback and Christian Waller; one stepgrandchild, Storm Bond; and six sisters, Elva Barker of Speedwell, Edna Brown of Roanoke, Amougine Barker of Austinville, Sue Porter of Charlottesville, Cornelia Bedwell of Rocky Mount, and Lois Leonard of Rocky Mount.

Virginia Wilkins Wells
Virginia Wilkins Wells of the Randolph House Home for Adults in Pulaski, formerly of Rural Retreat, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in the Pulaski Community Hospital.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel, Rural Retreat, with Pastor Edward Schaack officiating. Burial will be in Old Bellwood, Pine Bluff, Ark., at a later date.
Born in Pine Bluff, Ark., she was the daughter to Virginius Davis Wilkins and Mary Allen Wilkins, cotton plantation owners. She was educated in Arkansas schools and studied voice at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She married
Hubert Laurence Rawlins. After her marriage dissolved, Virginia traveled extensively with her mother and lived in Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Washington, D.C., where she worked in the Surgeon General’s office. While in Washington, D.C., she married
Ralph J. Wells, a Grayson County native. They moved to Greeley, Colo., where Ralph worked as a pipefitter and she was an antique dealer. Upon retirement, they moved to Rural Retreat. She was a Red Cross volunteer, a Bridge player, and Rural Retreat Garden Club president.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wells; her parents, Virginius Davis Wilkins and Mary Allen Wilkins; her son, Hubert Laurence Rawlins Jr.; and a sister, Jessie.
Survivors include a nephew, Virginius W. Haymes of North Carolina; a niece, Jessie "Pat" Williams of Ohio; several great-nieces and nephews; and many friends from Rural Retreat and the Randolph House.
Memorials may be made to the McDowell Music Club Scholarship Fund, the Grace Lutheran Church Organ Fund, or the American Red Cross in care of Lindsey Funeral Home.

Andrew Joseph Wheeler
Andrew Joseph Wheeler, 19, of Mineral, died Thursday, March 3, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident in Louisa County.
Memorial service was held Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at the Woodward Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Munsey officiating.
He was a graduate of Louisa County High School and a partner in the carpet business with his father.
His sister, Stacie Lee Wheeler, also died in the same accident.
He is survived by his mother, Debra Collier of Milford; her father and stepmother, Ralph J. and Carolyn Wheeler of Louisa County; a sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Chris Anderson of Milford; a stepsister, Megan Wilson of Louisa County; a stepbrother, Jason Young of Louisa County; her grandmother, Nancy Wheeler; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins; many other family members and friends.

Staci Lee Wheeler
Staci Lee Wheeler, 14, of Mineral, formerly of Bland, died Thursday, March 3, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident in Louisa County.
Memorial service was held Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at the Woodward Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Munsey officiating. A memorial service will be held in Bland at a later date.
She was an active member of the Bible Baptist Church in Mineral, a leader and organizer of the young children’s programs. She had attended Bland Elementary School and was a ninth grader and honor student at Louisa County High School, where she was involved in many clubs and organizations including the step drill team and drama club.
Her brother, Andrew Joseph Wheeler, also died in the same accident.
She is survived by her mother, Debra Collier of Milford; her father and stepmother, Ralph J. and Carolyn Wheeler of Louisa County; a sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Chris Anderson of Milford; a stepsister, Megan Wilson of Louisa County; a stepbrother, Jason Young of Louisa County; her grandmother, Nancy Wheeler; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins; many other family members and friends, including one of her best friends, Sherry Faulkner of Bland County.

Anthony Michael Wright, 39, of the Hollybrook community in Bland, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in White Gate with the Rev. Jimmy Conley and the Rev. Henry Allen Conley officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain Field cemetery, Hollybrook.
He was born Sept. 4, 1960, at Pearisburg, a son of Minnie Burton Wright of Bland and the late Tony Ralph Wright.
He is survived by his mother, Minnie Burton Wright of Bland; one son, Anthony Mason Wright of Dublin; one daughter, Ashley Marie Wright of Dublin; two brothers, Kenny Wright and Christopher Wright, both of Bland; his paternal grandmother, Verrena Wright of Bland; a special aunt, Rosa Shewey of Bland; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Alma Parks Cassell, 80, of Rural Retreat, died Saturday, June 12, 1999, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy E. Blevins officiating. Interment was in Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.
She was born in Grayson County, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Addie Cornett Parks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kermit Cassell; and one son, Mack Curtis Cassell.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane C. and Doug Fuller of Mineral, and Gloria C. and Dennis McMillan of Crockett; two sisters, Hassie Lee Yonce of Maryland, and Carol Montgomery of Pennsylvania; four brothers, J.C. Parks of Arizona, Ralph Gene Parks of Idaho, Willard Parks and Ford Parks, both of Maryland; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

James Edgar "Dag" Davis, 78, of Route 3, Wytheville, died Monday, June 14, 1999, in the Pulaski Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel in Austinville with the Rev. Donald White officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul cemetery.
He was born in Wythe County, a son of the late John Lewis and Laura Belle McRoberts Davis, and was retired from Coleman Furniture Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Ellen Wright Davis; a sister, Willie Spencer; and three brothers, Slicer Davis, June Davis and Woodrow Davis.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruby Jahanahmadi of Greensboro, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Raymond and Cheryl King Davis of Greensboro, N.C., and Jamey and Jill Burris Davis of Route 3, Wytheville; a stepson, William Douglas "Jack" Wright of Crawfordsville, Ind.; four sisters, Lillian Arnold of Max Meadows, Ruby Burchett of Ivanhoe, Eunice Davis of Austinville, and Dorothy Robinson of Max Meadows; a brother, John Davis of Max Meadows; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sid Cook.

She was born in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Michael Junior and Alice Josey Wright Jones.
She preceded in death by several sisters and brothers and her husband, Edgar McPearson Jones.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Geneva Waller of Ivanhoe; a stepson, Horace Jones of Lebanon; and seven stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ella Sue Bogle Bish, 81, of Littlestown, Pa., formerly of Ceres, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, in Brethren Home, New Oxford, Pa.
Private funeral services were held. Interment was in Mount Carmel cemetery in Littlestown, Pa.
Born July 1, 1926, in Ceres. She graduated from high school in Ceres and was retired from the Federal Trade Commission, Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew N. and Louvenia Pruett Bogle.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Richard K. Bish of Littlestown, Pa.; one sister, Selma Weaver of Silver Spring, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

Ella Hancock Pauley Blankenship, 82, of Route 2, Bland, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Newberry Funeral Home in Bland with the Rev. Doug Hyndrich officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Hill cemetery.
She was born in Bland, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Humphrey Hancock.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chafe Pauley; and a son, Ralph Wayne Pauley.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Blankenship of Bland; a son and daughter-in-law, Earnest and Clara Pauley of Powhatan; three grandchildren, Penny L. Pauley of Powhatan, Betty P. Estrada and Wanda P. Nichols, both of Chesterfield; and three great-grandchildren.

Nancy Nichol Eskridge, 80, of Birdmont Manor, Wytheville, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. David G. Coffey Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood cemetery.
Born June 28, 1917, in Pulaski, she was a daughter of the late Nancy Nichol Eskridge and Allen Taylor Eskridge Sr. She was employed in the business office of Appalachian Power Co. for 30 years. She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and was active with the College Alumni Association, was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Currin Eskridge Combiths of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. William P. (Ellen) Groseclose of Eden, N.C.; one brother, Nichol Eskridge of Hollins; and ten nieces and nephews.
