Neta Ogle Smith, 70, of Wytheville, Va., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel in Wytheville, Va., with the Rev. Dan Lehman and the Rev. Doug Stuart officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Va.
She was born in Wythe County, Va., a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Belisa Catron Ogle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester D. Smith; and five sisters.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Belisa "Tootles" and Dennis Dunford of Max Meadows, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas David and Anita Smith of Max Meadows, Va.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Esther and Homer Bower of Ava, Ill., Madaline Catron and Louise Reedy, both of Wytheville, Va.; a brother, Thomas W. Ogle of Flint, Mich.; one grandson, Dennis Duane Dunford of Max Meadows, Va.; one step-granddaughter and her spouse, Jennifer and Jonathan Davidson; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Home or at the residence of her daughter, Belisa "Tootles" Dunford, at any time.

Giovanna "Joan" Bretti, 96, of Bluefield, W.Va., died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield, W.Va.
A mass of Christian burial was held Monday, March 4, at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, W.Va., with the Very Reverent Patsy J. Iaquinta, V.R. as celebrant. Entombment followed at the Woodlawn Memorial Mausoleum in Bluewell, W.Va.
She was born Jan. 2, 1906, in Filadelphia, Italy, a daughter of the late Vincenzio and Mary Bretti Fraone. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, W.Va., where she was a member of the St. Anne's Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Bretti; three brothers, John Fraone, Joseph Fraone and Vincent Fraone; and one sister, Catherine Fraone.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Bretti Miller of Bluefield, W.Va., and Barbara Bretti Porter of Wytheville, Va.; one brother, Dominic Fraone of Italy; one sister, Angela Bretti of Italy; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nephews.

Larry Wayne Johnson, 53, of Garner, N.C., died Friday, March 1, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim Chong Pae Johnson.

Cecil Lewis "C.L." Martin, 74, of Galax, Va., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 3, at 3 p.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, Galax. Va., with Dr. Thomas J. Whartenby officiating. Graveside services were held Monday, March 4, at 10 a.m. at Felts Memorial cemetery.
He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in the Patterson community of Wythe County, Va. He worked along with his parents in establishing Martin's Flowers and Greenhouses as a premiere industry in Galax, Va. During his horticulture career, he held memberships in the Society of American Florists, the Ohio State Growers Association, and the Tri-State Flower Growers Association in which he held the office of president.
He was preceded in death his wife, Lucille "Lucy" Hash Martin; and his parents, Orba Chester "O.C." Martin and Norma Alverta McGrady Martin.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Louise Martin of Woodbridge, Va.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Millie and Bud Feuer, and Lois and Ed Hastings, all of Roanoke, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Pat Martin of Galax, Va.; five grandchildren, Jessica McClanahan, Amanda Martin, Jason Martin, Nicolette Martin, and Emiley Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

Warren G. "Billy" Martin, 78, of Ivanhoe, Va., died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in the Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Independence, Va.
A memorial service was held Sunday, March 3, at 8 p.m. conducted by IVA Lodge No. 173, I.O.O.F. Funeral services were held Monday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel, Austinville, Va., with the Rev. Ed Richardson officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery, Ivanhoe, Va.
He was born in West Virginia, a son of the late Tom and Hanna Porter Martin. He was a member of the Ivanhoe Pentecostal Holiness Church and a lifetime member of the Ivanhoe Fire Department. He was a member of the IVA Lodge No. 173, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and was retired from Polymer Corp. and Wythe County Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudine King Martin; two sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Johnny and Joyce Martin of Austinville, Va., Terry and Kathy Martin, Tom and Connie Martin, all of Wytheville, Va., and Mike Martin of Ivanhoe, Va.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one step grandchild and one great-stepgrandchild.
