Lewis R. Williams Jr., 75, of York, S.C., died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002.
Graveside service will be Sunday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m. in the Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, S.C.
He was the son of the late Lewis Sr. and Lena Fisher Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Umberger Williams of York, S.C.; two daughters, Linda W. Ray, and Sandra W. Dickerson, both of York, S.C.; a son, Michael Anthony Williams of York, S.C.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Charles Jackson, Lee and Fred Brown, and Carol and Johnny Crabtree, all of Wytheville, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Mildred Williams, and Jack and Barbara Williams, all of Wytheville, Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in York, S.C.

Lois Albert Hall, 98, of Wytheville, Va., formerly of Pulaski, Va., died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Asbury Center at Birdmont, Wytheville, Va.
Memorial funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, at 8 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va., with the Rev. Hugh Springer officiating. Interment will be private.
Born April 28, 1904, in Pulaski, Va., she was the daughter of the late Nannie Hufford Albert Isiah Rector and Nannie Hufford Albert. She was a retired executive housekeeper for both Radford Community Hospital and Pulaski General Hospital. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pulaski, Va., where she was the oldest member and lifetime member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. "Pop" Hall; and a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Hurst.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Hall Tourney of Pulaski, Va., Sally Hall Buchanan of Richmond, Va., and Sara Hall Ausbon of Lamirada, Calif.; one son, Roy A. Hall of Okanowaha, Japan; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. (service time) at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home.

Justine King, 68, of Ceres, Va., died Sunday, July 7, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Ceres, Va., with the Rev. Bruce Shelton and the Rev. Ruthanne Henley officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time.
She was born in Bland County, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Charles King; and her parents, Olen P. and Clara Umbarger Hanshew.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Gary Sadler of Bland, Va.; two sons, David Anthony King and Steven Eric King, both of Ceres, Va.; three grandchildren, Laura Victoria Leonard of Ceres, Va., Melissa Annette Sadler and Jerrod Matthew Sadler, both of Bland, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Justin Tyler Leonard and Taylor Nichole Leonard; a sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Lee Tate of Ceres, Va.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Larry R. and Donna Hanshew of Ceres, Va.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Highland's Bland Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, Wytheville, Va. Interment will be in the West End cemetery, Wytheville, Va., with Dr. Barry W. Losey and Clarence Marshall officiating.
She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Bessie Turner Bowman and was a retired insurance claims agent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Shelton.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and David Lovingood of Chesapeake, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Carolyn Shelton of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; four sisters and brother-in-law, Nellie Bausell of Wytheville, Va., Iva Manley of Austinville, Va., Frances Jefferson Bowman of Wytheville, Va., and Bettie and Arthur Inman of Fredericksburg, Va.; a brother, Douglas Bowman of Wytheville, Va.; grandchildren and a spouse, William and Sherry Haskins, Angela Shelton and Amy Shelton; a great-grandchild, Morgan Haskins; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

William P. "Bill" Carpenter, 77, of Wytheville, Va., died Sunday July 14, 2002.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 18, at 3 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, Wytheville, Va., with Father Rene Castillo officiating. Interment will be in the West End cemetery, Wytheville, Va.
He was retired division manager of Camcar-Textron Va. Operations. He was a member and past president of the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce, member and past president of the Wytheville Golf Club, former member and past president of Wytheville Lions Club, former member of town of Wytheville Planning Commission, past board member of Va. Regional Industrial Development Authority, former chairman of Wytheville Community College Education Foundation, and vice president and co-owner of Southwest Specialty Heat Treat. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret C. Carpenter; and his parents, Walter and Anna Lamphear Carpenter.
Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Donna C. and Theodore "Chet" Anderson of Orange County, Calif., Margaret C. Sutherland, and Susan C. Hudson, both of Richmond, Va.; four sons and daughters-in-law, William A. "Bill" and Barbara Carpenter of Great Falls, Va., Michael S. "Mike" and Pamela Carpenter of Acworth, Ga., David P. and Joan Carpenter, and Daniel J. "Danny" Carpenter, all of Wytheville, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jack Gardiner of Cranston, R.I.; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Dee Carpenter of Warwick, R.I.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Beulah Oleta Harris, 86, of Glade Spring, died Monday, March 6, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.

She was the widow of James A. Harris Sr. and was a member of the United Methodist church.
She is survived by a son, James A. "Jamie" Harris II of Glade Spring; two grandsons, Jason Harris and Jeremy Harris; two sisters-in-law, Ann Parker of Chilhowie, and Lola Parker of Marion; and several nieces and nephews including a niece, Margaret Lowder of Wytheville; and a great-nephew, Chip Wright of Wytheville.

Donald J. "Jim" Holbrook, 78, of Route 1, Crockett, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, in the Veterans Care Center in Salem.
Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, March 7, at 3:30 p.m. in the Speedwell United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating. Graveside military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post No. 9.
He was born in Crockett, a son of the late Camiet and Virgie Poe Holbrook. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmo Holbrook, Fred Holbrook and Robert Holbrook.
Survivors include a sister, Juanita Hackler of Independence; a brother and sister-in-law, Julian and Bonnie Holbrook of Route 3, Wytheville; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Henry Huddle, 72, of Council Bluff, Iowa, formerly of Rural Retreat, died Monday, March 6, 2000.
Funeral and burial will be held Thursday, March 9, in Council Bluff, Iowa.
He was born in Rural Retreat, a son of the late Alex and Dorcas Dutton Huddle. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Huddle of Council Bluff, Iowa; and several cousins.

Sylvia Mae King Jackson, 72, of Ivanhoe Road, Max Meadows, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel with Jack King officiating. Interment followed in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
She was born in Wythe County, a daughter of the late Sherd S. and Blanche Delby King.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bob Lewis, the Rev. A.C. Ashford and the Rev. Don Crockett officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
She was a member of the Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack D. Harmon; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Elsie Jones.
