Charles Martin Hicks, 77, of Brownstown, Mich., died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the Oakwood South Shore Medical Center in Trenton, Mich.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock, Mich., with the Rev. Lloyd Locklear of Woodheaven Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial was at Huron Valley cemetery, Flat Rock, Mich.
He was born May 25, 1925, in West Virginia, a son of the late Kenneth S. Sr. and Bessie May Gillenwater Hicks, formerly of Rural Retreat, Va. He was a retired maintenance welder for McLouth Steel with 32 years of service. He was a member of Woodhaven Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Hicks; and two sisters, Willie White and Heneritta Hicks.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Christine Blessing Hicks of Flat Rock, Mich.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles M. and Suzanne Hicks of Trenton, Mich., and Don and Rebecca Hicks of Woodhaven, Mich.; two daughters, Zoie C. Kern of Topeka, Kan., and Marty C. Mohamed of Trenton, Mich.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Blanch Hicks, and Kenneth S. Jr. and Loretta Hicks, all of Salem, Va.; a sister, Bess H. Summers of Flat Rock, Mich.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Joan Louise Stohr Gonda
Joan Louise Stohr Gonda, 68, of Wytheville, Va., died Sunday, July 7, 2002.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 10, at noon at St. Maryšs Catholic Church in Wytheville, Va.
She was the daughter of the late Carl and Phyllis Yottes Stohr.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew William Gonda Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Gonda of Wytheville, Va.; two sons and daughter-in-law Cdr. Philip Andrew and Aimee-Christine Gonda of Memphis, Tenn., and William Gonda of Asheville, N.C.; sister, Carolyn Wood of Scottsdale Ariz.; and two grandchildren, James Andrew Gonda of Memphis Tenn., and Stephen Philip Gonda of Memphis, Tenn.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 10, from 10:30 a.m. to noon (service time) at St. Maryšs Catholic Church.

Elsinda "Susie" Albert Hicks, 79, of Austinville, Va., died Saturday, July 6, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8, at 8 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home Chapel, Austinville, Va., with the Rev. Jerry Long officiating. Interment will be held Tuesday, July 9, at 11 a.m. in the Bethany cemetery.
She was born in Leigh, Neb., a daughter of the later Ray Graham Albert and Emma Wachal Albert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Joseph "Pat" Hicks.
Survivors include a special friend and caregiver, Doris "Junior" Eversole of Austinville, Va.; two cousins, William Cisler of Nebraska, and Edward Linn of Colorado; and a special attorney friend, Archie Campbell of Wytheville, Va.

James Thomas Arnold, 63, of Wytheville, Va., died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Arnold.

Edgar Albert "Eddie" Blair Sr., 49, of Ivanhoe, Va., died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in the Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church in Ivanhoe, Va., with the Rev. Rance Edwards and the Rev. Bill Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Church cemetery.
He was born in Pulaski, Va., a son of the late Joseph Monroe and Audrey Bowers Blair.

Patrick Haymond Casey, 49, of Max Meadows, Va., died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at his residence.

He was employed at Pulaski Community Hospital in the anesthesiology department and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Haymond Casey.

She was born in Wythe County, Va., the daughter of the late Richard Spencer and Rosie Pinion Isom. She was a member of the Gunton Park Church of God of Prophecy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Herman Dunford; a son, Harry O'Dell Dunford; and a grandson, Donald Dunford.
