Rosana Viola George Scritchfield, 91, of Bland, Va., died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. in the National Memorial cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was born in Galesburg, N.D., a daughter of the late William and Sietska Terpstra George. She taught over 60 years in public and private schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gailon Eugene Scritchfield
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Richard and Connie Scritchfield Smith of Bland, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith "Billy" and LaQuita Scritchfield of Loveland, Colo.; and 12 grandchildren.

William Harlen "Pill" Gillman, 76, of Wytheville, Va., died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 8 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Chapel, Wytheville, Va. Interment will be Thursday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at the West End cemetery, Wytheville, Va.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Betsy Gillman of Wytheville, Va.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Charlie McDaniel, Elsie and Don Wright, all of Wytheville, Va., and Helen Ross of Salem, Va.; and a grandson, Michael Gillman of Wytheville, Va.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. (service time) at the Gillman Funeral Chapel.

Terry Dean Burks, 41, of Ivanhoe Road, Max Meadows, Va., died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. at Fisherman cemetery in Ivanhoe, Va., with the Rev. Rocky Dalton officiating.
He attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was employed with Hutchinson Sealing Systems.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl A. Burks Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Jessica Braxton of Speedwell, Va.; a mother, Sandra Crockett Burks of Ivanhoe, Va.; three sisters, Carla R. Burks of Wytheville, Va., Dana C. Burks of Max Meadows, Va., and Angela D. Burks of Roanoke, Va.; brother, Lyndon K. Burks of Ivanhoe, Va.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends.

Virginia Rubush Cabell
Virginia Rubush "Ginia" Cabell, of Parker, Colo., formerly of Wytheville, Va., died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at her home.
A joint graveside memorial service for Gina and Bud Cabell will be Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. at the St. Johns Lutheran Church cemetery conducted by Pastor Steve Ridenhour.
She was a lifelong homemaker, teacher and pilot. She and her husband, Bud, were married
in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Wytheville, Va., four days after D day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Derosey Carroll "Bud" Cabell, on May 30, 1998.
Survivors include three children, Ann Noel, Robert Brown Cabell, both of Parker, Colo., and Michael John Cabell of Maryland; and three grandchildren, Jeff, Erin and Mike.

David M. Hobbs, 80, of San Diego, Calif., died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. in the West End cemetery with the Rev. Robert "Bob" Billingsley officiating. American Legion Post No. 9 will conduct graveside military honors.
He was born in Tennessee on Nov. 17, 1921, a son of the late Sam and Gladys Hobbs. He joined the Navy on Sept. 11, 1941, and retired as chief petty officer on Sept. 1, 1985 with 44 years of service. He served during World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He married
, Virginia Jackson on Oct. 3, 1953, daughter of the late Lauren C. Jackson and Willie M. Jackson of Route 2, Wytheville, Va. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia Jackson Hobbs of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Bill Hobbs of Petros, Tenn.; a sister, Patsy Parker of Dotham, Ala.; his mother-in-law, Willie M. Jackson formerly of Wytheville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Mitchell Scott "Mitch" Jenkins, 20, of Wytheville, Va., died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Home Chapel, Wytheville, Va. Interment will be in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Va.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Hugh Carter and Walter Jenkins.
Survivors include his parents, Sanford and Mary Jenkins of Wytheville, Va.; three sisters, Mary Sandra Jenkins of Wytheville, Va., Maria Jenkins of Greensboro, N.C., and Tonia Conners of California; two brothers, Sanford Jenkins Jr. of California, and Shiva "Chris" Kaaba, stationed overseas; maternal grandmother, Mary Carter of Meadowview, Va.; and paternal grandmother, Edna Jenkins of California.

Robert Lee Sult
Robert Lee "Bob" "Stub" Sult, 89, of Wytheville, Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Wytheville, Va., with Pastor Steve Ridenhour officiating. Interment will be in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Va. The American Legion Post No. 9 will conduct military graveside rites.
He was the son of the late William Albert and Minnie Victoria Nickols Sult. He was a U.S. Army retired master sergeant and served during World War II in the battles and campaigns of Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe where he was decorated with three battle stars. After his retirement from military service, he was a Wytheville town policeman where he served until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Post No. 9 and was past commander of VFW Post No. 2719.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Dodgion Sult in October 1993.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Connie Lee Sult and Kenneth Baker of Wytheville, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Larry and Susan Kelly Sult of Max Meadows, Va.; four grandchildren and spouse, Crystal L. Baker and Adam Frye, Sidney Erin Sult, Robert Noah Sult and Christopher Benny Sult; one great-grandchild, April Elizabeth Frye; and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home.

Charles William "Charlie" Riggins, 58, of the Piney Community in Max Meadows, Va., died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at his residents.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel in Wytheville, Va. with the Rev. Bobby Lewis officiating. American Legion Post No. 9 will conduct military rites.
He had served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil C. Riggins.

Cregger of Max Meadows, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Jerry S. and Novella Riggins of Louisa, Va., and Roger and Lora Riggins of Catlett, Va.; two grandchildren, Katy Burnett and Kyle Burnett; two step-grandchildren, Jacob Thomas and Drew Thomas; special nieces, Pam Cregger and Lisa Shoemake; special nephew, Franklin Cregger; special great-niece, Elisha Shereé Blair; special great-nephew, Adam Shoemake; and several other nieces and nephews.

George Richard Haisch, 82, of Wytheville, Va., formerly of Laureldale, Pa., died Tuesday Sept. 3, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va.
Funeral services and entombment will be in Laureldale, Pa.
He was a graduate of Reading High School and was retired from Maiers Bakery after 25 years as a driver and salesman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Shana Quinter Haisch; his parents, Frederick and Alfaretta Horn Haisch; and a brother, Donald F. Haisch.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Frances "Fran" and Harry E. Angstadt of Wytheville, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Alan and Anne S. Haisch of Woodbridge, Va.; two grandsons and spouses, Kevin L. and Caroline Angstadt, of Rural Retreat, Va., and Christopher A. and Sherrie Angstadt, of Gastonia, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Cassandra Angstadt and Christina Angstadt, both of Rural Retreat, Va., Amanda Angstadt and Hunter Angstadt, both of Gastonia, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Ballard and Nancy Grubb Williams; two brothers, Walter Williams and Frankie Williams; two half brothers, Sidney C. Williams and Lee Williams; and a half sister, Beulah Williams Stuart.
