Claudine Richardson Kitts, 82, of Bland, Va., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at her residence.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 1:45 p.m. at the Highland Funeral Service Bland Chapel, Bland, Va., with Bland Chapter No. 41, Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Highland Funeral Service Bland Chapel, Bland, Va., with the Rev. Doug Hyndrich and the Rev. Josephine Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the Temple Hill cemetery.
She was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Bland County, Va. She attended the Bland United Methodist Church and was a past matron and member of Bland Chapter No. 41, Order of the Eastern Star, for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff J. and Lavada Jane Eagle Richardson; a brother, Fred A. Richardson; and a half sister, Loetta Richardson.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew W. Kitts of the home; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ida Mae and Robert Burton of Bland, Va.; a niece and spouse, Wanda Burton and Robert Reynolds of Clarksville, Tenn.; and several other close family members.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 24, from noon until 1:45 p.m. (service time) at the Highland Funeral Service Bland Chapel.
The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorial donations to the Bland United Methodist Church, Bland County Rescue Squad or Bland County Volunteer Fire Department.

Bobby Lee Osborne Jr., 40, of Crockett, Va., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, Va. with the Rev. Clayton Hounshell and the Rev. Oscar Ayers officiating. Interment will be in Pugh cemetery, Volney, Va.
He was born April 26, 1962, at Seaford, Del.
He is survived by his parents, Bobby Sr. and Freida Parks Osborne of Crockett, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Renee Osborne of Cripple Creek, Va., and David and Robin Osborne of Wytheville, Va.; a special friend, Debbie Segal of the home; and several nieces and nephews.

Ethel Wynn Roberts, 70, of Crockett, Va., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in the Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Salem, Va.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 2:30 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel, Rural Retreat, Va., with the Rev. Jerry Creasy officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church cemetery.
She was born in Wythe County, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Charles Roberts; her parents, Joseph Edward and Hazel Brown Wynn; and a sister, Evelyn Malone.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, James William Roberts of the home, and John and Joyce Chapman of Sugar Grove, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ralph Bonham of Sugar Grove, Va.; two brothers, William B. Wynn of Rural Retreat, Va., and Earl Wynn of Wytheville, Va.; four sisters, Elizabeth Monahan and Helen Bass, both of Speedwell, Va., Rita Hundley of Hayes, N.C., and Gladys Havens of Crockett, Va.; two grandchildren, Joe Bonham and Ralph Bonham II; and one stepgranddaughter, Jackie VanSwearingen of the home.

James David "J.D." Crockett, 66, of Richmond, Va., died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Richmond, Va., and Thursday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Crockett's Chapel United Methodist Church in Cripple Creek, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Porter Crockett; and his parents, Robert Brown and Margie Crockett.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sheila Crockett of Powhatan, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Mark Moon of Lanexa, Va., and Leslie and Mike Wrighter of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Jim Crockett of Cripple Creek, Va.; four sisters, Adrienne Underwood of Cripple Creek, Va., Dane Suthers and Adair King, both of Crockett, Va., and Eileen Pack of Wytheville, Va.; and four grandchildren.
He was born April 2, 1936, in Cripple Creek, Va. He graduated from Emory & Henry College, Emory, Va., and Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University), and served in the U.S. Army. He dedicated his career to human services, was director of human services in Washington County, Va., and was an officer of the Virginia League of Social Services Executives while in Washington County, Va. He became director of the Western Region of Department of Social Services, was assistant director for regional operations and finished his career as assistant director for Division of Licensing Program for the state of Virginia. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Richmond, Va., past master of JOPPA Lodge No. 40 and member of Scottish Rite Temple. He was a member of director's staff, past director, and chaplain of ACCA Temple, and member of Court No. 16 Royal Order of Jesters.
The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home in Glen Allen, Va. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Helen Virginia Howk Hensley, 78, of Wytheville, Va., died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel in Wytheville, Va., with the Rev. Harold Coleman officiating. Interment will be in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery.
She was retired from the Jafree Shirt Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester D. Hensley; her parents, Charles Terry and Della Jones Howk; one son, Elmer D. Hensley; four sisters, Rita Kirby, Sue Stroupe, Ada Martin and Mozella Hensley; and three brothers, Robert Howk, Raymond Howk and Howard Howk.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ronnie C. Quesenberry of Max Meadows, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Sharon L. Hensley of Wytheville, Va.; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Nancy Hall of Wytheville, Va.

Ima Rae Burkett Pearson, 72, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2003, on Flight No. 5481 at Douglas International Airport, Charlotte, N.C.
A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, North Myrtle Beach, S.C., with the Rev. Dr. Christopher D. Carlisle and the Rev. Robert Emory officiating. A funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 18, at Calvary Baptist Church, Ware Shoals, S.C., with the Rev. Robert Emory officiating. Burial was in Greenville Memorial Gardens, Greenville, S.C.
She was born in Bluefield, W.Va., a daughter of the late Phillip and Marie Givins Burkett. She was a nurse anesthetist for 27 years at the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, S.C. She was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, North Myrtle Beach, S.C., where she served several organizations.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Frederick "Larry" III and Lana Pearson of Carlisle, Penn.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Elizabeth Pearson and Alan Todd of Barstow, Calif., and Paula Rae Pearson of Ware Shoals, S.C.; one sister, Loretta Grimes of Rocky Gap, Va.; six grandchildren, Heath Pearson and Laura Pearson, both of Carlisle, Penn., David Todd, John Todd, Ashley Todd and Vanessa Todd, all of Barstow, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Paul Justin Billings, 81, of Old School Road, Wytheville, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Anders officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service time.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was retired from New Jersey Zinc Company with 36 years service, He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ollie Billings.

Mary Shockley Humphrey, 84, of Fort Chiswell Road, Max Meadows, Va., died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at her residence.

She was born in Wythe County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Stella Wyatt Shockley. She was a member of Galena Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Hazel, Emma, Lena, Helen and Sarah; and three brothers, Elmer, Woodrow and Sam.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Woodrow W. Humphrey of the home; five daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Bill Hric of Greensboro, N.C., Charlotte and Walter King of Wytheville, Va., Kaye Carter and Jerry Williamson of Greensboro, N.C., Sue and Dickie Bishop, Ann and Howard Manley, all of Max Meadows, Va.; four grandchildren, Anne Carter of Greensboro, N.C., David Manley of Columbia, S.C., Amy and Joe Walls of Max Meadows, Va. and Jason Manley of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Grace Moor of Wytheville, Va.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Frankie Shockley of Salem, Va.

John Henry Hurley, 50, of Bland, Va., died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at his residence.

He was the son of the late Charles Edgar and Elizabeth McLemore Hurley. He was an employee of Williams Manufacturing and was a well known local musician.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Hurley; and a sister, Nancy Lou Hurley.

Gussie Lee Ingo, 65, of Wytheville, Va., died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, Wytheville, with the Rev. Bob Billingsley and Jack King officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.
He retired from the Radford Powder Plant in 1997 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church and the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge No. 232.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank and Zola Akers Ingo; and a brother, Joseph Elmo Ingo.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen Fisher Ingo of Wytheville, Va.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Kathleen Ingo and Zelda and Eldridge Felts, all of the Piney community of Wythe County, Va.; a sister-in-law, Marilee Ingo of Blacksburg, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
